There's a poll?
I would've voted Iceland if I'd have caught it btw.

On the small map, would it help removing the ocean names?
I think it looks terrific, I'm not sure what you mean when you say it looks 'too busy' =/

I tried to put up a poll that had 2 options, Iceland and Island. However every time I hit submit, the poll's options were:

Original Blue Ocean
Iceland
New Green Ocean
Island.

No matter what. Cleared cashe. refreshed page. I was even on a different computer than my ocean color poll. Nothing worked. I guess it's some kind of bug in phpbb3. I really didn't need the poll anyway. I'm calling it Iceland. I just wanted to mess with snufkin. "Billions"...

What does this mean? The stamps are in my first post and I thought that's what was required. I don't see anyone else with stamps in their titles?

The glaciers on the small map. Could you reduce there transparency a little to blend them in? Not to much, just enought so that they dont seem as sharp as thet are now. There not a big problem so ill go and do this:

I think RJ has updated the bonuses in the small map but forgotten to update them in the big map. That's why.

I can´t see the dots over the o:s anymore (ö) on the glaciers (jökulls) and fjördurs.
And Hofsjökull is one name not two.. same thing with Myrdalsjökull.
except for that I think the small map looks perfect! (I always play small)

I don´t think you need a poll for the name.. ruben was the only one suggesting Ísland and he changed his mind?
..but I feel quite embarrassed for thinking 700 million americans spoke spanish or portugese as their first language  Its only about half a billion in the whole world.
so only around 967 million call it island- in their first language... unless you translate the cyrillic and greek alphabet, then it´s 1.15 billions or more.. and after you remove 20% (probably more) who cant read latin letters (or at all) or never heard of iceland, then it is less than 1000.000.000 unless there are more languages using island- in africa and asia.

Sorry to burst your bubble mate but it's "Islândia" in Portuguese and "Islandia" in Spanish not "Island". So forget your millions. :)

The closest you might get is "Islanda" in Italian or "Islande" in French but not even those are "Island". Maybe your fellow Scandinavians call it "Island"? I'd say that's perhaps 25-30 million people max if that was the case. :)

that´s what i said in the original post: island- including islandia and islande.. the question was whether they would be able to identify island as iceland, not the exact spelling..
The exact spelling of island is fewer - although it´s more than just the 22 million scandinavians.. standard german speakers are 100 million for example and then there´s the czechs and estonians and bosnians and croatians.. there are more but i dont have the time to check.

Just for the record, we dutchies call it IJsland :-)

By the way, You can take both names in the Map. The original name and the English name.
It doesn't bother me, when the original name is in the map or not.

I just wanna see this incredible fine graphical map to be quenched :D

And Ruben Cassar, nice to see you around here ;-)

Yea, like Marval said, you can have both names in there. If you move the title down a little, you can put the original name above it; at least try it.

Btw, Have you started the XML, do you mind if I try it (I've always been intrested in it, but never found a good simple map which could work) I would do everything except the coordinates. (But if I have enough time, I might do it.)

I think I'm going to keep just the Iceland title. It's already busy enough. I may even take out the glacier names.
Thanks for the offer firedud - but I'm going to do the xml for this myself.

Here I come, looking to give some advice and feedback because I really want this map to finish, and I'm left with nothing to comment on. :(

RjBeals, the map looks great. I personally would like you to keep the names on the glaciers, if only because without them it seems like a big white area of dead space. At least the names break it up a little bit and add to the geographical accuracy of the map.

I'm planning on making this map one of my main maps when it is finished, so I've silently followed the thread for a long time. The colors are wonderful, and I think you ultimately ended up with a great color for the oceans. :)

I wish I had something more worthwhile to say, but......you are amazing, as always.

Wow.. I'll take it Optimus. I should be posting some final images soon (to my liking that is) - and will start the xml soon as well. The xml will take some time due to all the special characters, but I'm up for the challenge.

I just noticed Langjökull isn't mentioned :?:
Also, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but a couple of territory names(in the pg14 update) still have letters that should be changed, just a few:
Skeidarársandur - Skeiðarársandur
dardalur - Búðardalur
Reykjavik&Keflavik&Vik - vík
Jokull - jökull

That I think should be the last correction from me :D
