rt games made real time
The idea is that on the 'start your own game' mode there is an option stating 'rt game' or 'international game' if 'rt game' is selected each player has 2hrs to complete their go, keeping it real time, if 'international game' is selected then the game is as normal whereby all players still have 24hrs to take their go.

Good point..... note to self: Use with Escalating games only!JerenYun wrote:What if it starts real time but everyone has to take more time? One example is when a group of friends start a game at a common location (school or work) and play for a few hours in real time, but then they go home for the evening. What then? They all get penalized?

maybe this should be added to those posting guidelines, check To-Do list before making suggestions, but how many people actualy read that......AndyDufresne wrote:Great suggestion...wait..**moves it to the suggestion area**. Also, it is so great...it's been suggested before and is on the 'To-Do' list.

I can only see one problem, thats people lives, i mean yeah they may seeem to have the time but what if its a REAL emergency? i mean it wouldent be fair would it, missing turns for lets say there parents get rushed to hospital, or there wife/sister/mum has a baby?, i mean these are all real issues and ive been in Rt's where some1 had to cut short because of a emergency.
2 hours is a bit short, lets make it 7 perhaps?
just my thought guys

Most likely, real time games will have a 'short' time for rounds. Perhaps you have to take the risk of setting up a real time. Also perhaps if a 'skip turn button' ever comes around, and you were playing with friends, you all could mutually skip turns. Who knows, all of this is just thought at the moment.

Real time with 7 hour turns? lets say a tripples game 6 players... seq... and everyone uses around 5 hours each... that is 30 hours per round...Ronaldinho wrote:I can only see one problem, thats people lives, i mean yeah they may seeem to have the time but what if its a REAL emergency? i mean it wouldent be fair would it, missing turns for lets say there parents get rushed to hospital, or there wife/sister/mum has a baby?, i mean these are all real issues and ive been in Rt's where some1 had to cut short because of a emergency.

even 2 hours would make it 12 hours oer round... I say 30min to 1 hour for each round.
and what if you have a emergency? if your parents are rushed to hospital or if someone has a baby? wouldn't you go there if you know you misses some turns and a few points in this game?
I feel really sorry for you if you priorities a few game points before them.
in this instance i suggest using the international game rather than rt so this situation wud be localisedJerenYun wrote:What if it starts real time but everyone has to take more time? i would have thought that if it was a real emergancy that the person would not care, which is more important family or points. so i stick wiv 2hrs so ppl dont disappear mid-game.Ronaldinho wrote:I can only see one problem, thats people lives, i mean yeah they may seeem to have the time but what if its a REAL emergency? i mean it wouldent be fair would it, missing turns for lets say there parents get rushed to hospital, or there wife/sister/mum has a baby?, i mean these are all real issues and ive been in Rt's where some1 had to cut short because of a emergency.

revision on time
maybe make an optional time limit for taking turns so the choice of 30 mins, 1hr, 90 mins, 2hrs etc... please express your comments about this.
Re: revision on time
I like the optional time limit idea. Esp. good for those of us looking for a quick game in gabbly.robert 24 wrote:maybe make an optional time limit for taking turns so the choice of 30 mins, 1hr, 90 mins, 2hrs etc... please express your comments about this.

If the time limit option were enacted, a strict time limit would also have to be placed on turn lengths, as timed games can easily be taken advantage of... for instance, Person A is winning, and there's 10 minutes left in the game, and he has 15 minutes to make his turn. You get the idea I think

i am a noob, so my words dont carry much weight around here.
But as far as i can tell, if everybody is online at the same time, and playing, there is no problem.
basicly everybody can take their turns as fast as they can and the game finishes quickly.
the problem is when someone is missing.
how do you get the game going and prevent it from stalling.
well, i think the answer leis with deadbeat. i am not sure what the penalty or stigma is, but it is the ready solution to make someone disappear when he has dropped out of being active on a game.
this can e.g. be an emergency, a lenghty bathroombreak or a disconnected internetservice.
Either way, its not going to happen that he is back in the game fast enough for everybody to end it.
if the penalty is sever, the persons attending should be aware of this and accept cush a game at their own peril.
if so, i see no reason to limit the play time.
e.g. why not set the time to 10 minutes, for a really fast game.
just be sure to notify this in the title
and as far as i can see, there are no obstecles safe for bruised ego's.

it isnt the game time we want to change its individual turn times because some rts can last up to 3-4hrs anyway. please read notes carefully.OnlyAmbrose wrote:If the time limit option were enacted, a strict time limit would also have to be placed on turn lengths, as timed games can easily be taken advantage of... for instance, Person A is winning, and there's 10 minutes left in the game, and he has 15 minutes to make his turn. optional time period b/w turns would be good, I love rt games, but would not join a 2 hour game for one reason. If the game goes on for more than 5 rounds (very likely) it would be time for sleep eventually (almost everyone sleeps) and then people would miss a lot of turns while they slept. I would join 8 hour limit games.
i have said this over and over the full game time is not an issue it is that ppl go in the middle and if you disappere in the middle of an rt its not an rt is it my version of rt is you start the game you finish how ever long it takes if you have a different opinion then plz sayMegatron wrote:optional time period b/w turns would be good, I love rt games, but would not join a 2 hour game for one reason. IMO:
Labeling RT games as such is a really great idea. Imposing a short stop clock is mostly unnecessary, as the"peer pressure" to play quickly has kept every RT game I've played moving along just fine. Plus, the current system allows players to mutually agree to take a break or whatever.
However, if RT players want a special turn clock, it seem to me that it should require "Real Time" play, which would be something more like 1/2 hour per turn or less ... certainly 7 hours per turn is NOT real time.

i see, so you still want a nice time limit, but as the game is labelled 'rt' everyone should have access to the game around the same time of day so that turns can be taken quickly. Or, are you saying that there would a be "stopwatch" function whereby when everyone in the game decides that it is time for a break, whether it be for sleep, work, or whatever, they could all click it (unanimous decision) and thus allow the game to be paused?
