Coming from a whinny teenage brat, your repeated personnal attacks (at the risk of sounding cliche: You started it. Not that you care, "you know what you are talking about". For you it seems, "Facts be damned, I have my patriotism to uphold and self-absorption to maintain".
I ask again, are you an accurate representation of the typical Frenchman or some sort of fringe radical? Anybody care to add their two cents worth? I've thrown in all I care to.
In 1900, only 11% percent of the people living in Alsace-Lorraine spoke French as a mother language.
In 870, the Treaty of Meersen gave the region to the Holy Roman Empire, which was a primarily German nation. Since then, France has tried to suppress the native culture and in very recent times, succeeded to some degree.
Not you were ever concerned with the truth of the matter.

No believe me, the thing is here,I don't need to save "face". You're clearly so incorrect, and desperately clutching at straws by frantically googling away to drudge up stats you don't understand on a country you probably can't point out on the map, this whole exercise has just become an elaborate joke at your expense for me.
I'm sure you have plenty more theories about the UK rightfully belonging to Denmark or something because of 1066 though, eh?

No, no, Mustard, you don't understand: I appreciate the annals of Alsatian history may not interest you greatly, but believe me, even Ignotus, a lily-livered lefty jellyfish if there ever was one found Jenos' pseudo-historical bullshit funny. There is no 'debât' here, only a monkey who knows about as much about France as he would were he some Bush Jr./Miss Teen South Carolina cross-breed arguing against, however wrong you think me on other issues, an at least thoroughbred Hexagonian. No anti-Southern slur intended by the way Neoteny, you know me better than that, but I can think of no two mongoloids of sufficient calibre to describe quite how retarded Jenos sounds to anyone with a clue about French history.Dancing Mustard wrote:Ohhhh

I don't have a clue about Ancient French History... nor do I have an opinion on who is 'winning' this debate. All I know is that it's great fun to watch.

Re: Turkey and EU
I mean, to give you an idea, he's sort of saying that French culture is Frankish (and that somehow justifies a German Alsace-Lorraine, y'know, that patch of land we fought a world war I seem to recall they lost over). So, that'd be like me claiming that Britain is Norman because of 1066: it's clearly more complex than that, but of course, Jenos has read the coloured world history encyclopedia for children in which he saw France coloured in a yellowish shade, and so considers himself expert on the matter.Dancing Mustard wrote:I don't have a clue about Ancient French History... nor do I have an opinion on who is 'winning' this debate. It's really not that interesting. Just a blurb about a girl whose boyfriend was attending college at U of SC. Long story short, GA > SC.
Is it just me, or have my posts been a lot more testosterone driven recently? What is that about?

Ironically enough, I learned the USC kid actually had to have that operation. Your name isn't Matt, by any chance, is it? Because you're weirding me out...

There were indeed multiple meanings to that expression, including the one that nobody would have known about had GT not mentioned testicular removal.Napoleon Ier wrote:Oh! Oh...you mean...GA>SC in terms of...the size of the native trouser snakes?

Re: Turkey and EU
seriously wtf happen this thread it was a debate about Turkey joining EU for about 10 posts.
My opinion is NO. I think that Turkey has a long way to go really.
"Joining the European Union is linked to strict conditions and involves the new EU member states carrying out a number of duties. Before effective negotiations can begin the new EU member states must fulfil 3 criteria, which are:
1) To have stable institutions that guarantee democracy, a constitutional state, the rights of man, and respect for and protection of minorities.
2) To have a workable market economy and sufficient potential to stand up to competition and to market forces operating within the EU.
3) On joining, to be capable of fulfilling the obligations arising out of their membership and in particular to support the aims of political, economic and monetary union. In technical jargon this is called the adoption of acquis communautaire. Which means that they must convert the whole of the European social, economic and environmental legislation into national law and guarantee the effective application of them"
1) definatly not at the moment
2) possible but a bit more stability might help convince me
3) Turkey has always been very independant hard to see it conform to EU rules so quickly
anyway Turkey has enough enemies in the EU to ensure it will be a long time before they get even seriously considered

Also a reason why 1 and 2 don't matter at the moment as any person with just a slight knowledge of euro-politics knows it'll be a long time before turkey joins the eu.multiplayertim wrote: anyway Turkey has enough enemies in the EU to ensure it will be a long time before they get even seriously considered
