How do you like the new rankings?

i like how i can now see what rank every poster is, and it suprises me, everyone who posts in ther forums are high ranking premiums, just makes me feel even worse lol

I've worked really hard over the last few weeks to secure lieutenant status to now shoot up to captain,it feels hollow and fake;and now the elusive diamond feels somewhat cheapened.

The actual rank you have is arbitrary, in my opinion. Just because you made captain or major out to be some big deal doesn't mean anything really changed. You are still ranked _______(insert number) on this site, and whether we call them all privates or colonels that won't change.

the idea is good in theory. new people advancing quicker in ranks = happy customers.
BUT (a big but) it was implemented horribly. i used to be proud to have achieved a rank of major and one of my goals was to be a colonel. now every former major is a colonel. and not only were all ranks cheapened by the inflation now they're even more cheapened by this measure. so the new ranks suck.

what should have been done was the introduction of a few intermediary ranks. this allows new players to advance quicker and it also keeps the old ranks in place so that we can still have the same goals.

Maybe it's still the same, but now you have to aim for a rank higher, i dont know...

But, adding a few ranks in between, while letting the "usual" ranks stay, or even raise a bit with 100 pts wouldve been better, imho.

DiM and Riazor both raise excellent points. I agree that an intermediate rank will be warranted soon as the CC population continues to expand. I feel like many people have commented about their ranks (and goals of desired ranks), but no one has mentioned the dispersion that is necessary to distinguish among players. The lower ranks are closer together because there are more players in each point spread. The arrangement of the ranks must be focused on fairly spreading players out in a positively skewed distribution. What you are (or were) is superfluous to where you are in rank order.

Well if you ask me i will add new 5 ranks,and put 6000 point for Field Marshal,and 5000 point for General.

I remember the shock when I got demoted from Colonel to Captain last year when the scoring system changed the first time, it was a shock to see a new rank today but a bit less of one I guess

The guys who have been around long enough to remember the older rankings (and in fact I think there may have been even older rankings in the early stages of 2006?) will remember that colonel used to be the rank most good players aspired to (with general a pipedream at 3000 - pre point inflation ). Then we switched our expectations to Captain/Major and now it looks like it shifts back to Major/Colonel...

Your not the only one who got a shock last year. I had reached 1400 points - the old captain boundary and was just on the verge of patting myself on the back. I came back from holiday and found myself a corporal!

But I worked hard and got my star back. I was on course for major and then I hit a blip but all of a sudden I've got it by doing sweet f*ck all.

I guess losing 200 points in 3 hours was punishment for resting on my newly unearned undeserved laurels

I don't think CC ranking clearly tells you how good/bad you are at playing the game, so to me, the new rankings isn't something to like or dislike because in my opinion, it still doesn't go in depth about how good/are we really are.

The new rankings may objectively be better. However I still would have liked to gain the rank of Major on the battlefield, rather than as an overnight batch update on a server. It's just not the same feeling.

Old way was better. When you make the game to easy it becomes nothing more than free handouts. Sure it feels good to rise in rank but it is nothing more than a flase sense of security.

i liked the older ones. it was something to strive for. like i wanted to get to lieutenant which was 1800 points back then, and i would have felt accomplished.. now its just bastardized. i should still be corporal 1st class

I voted old ones... before I thought sergeant and up were ones you can count on to be skilled... now I have to think they could just be corp. 1st class and are just lucky players, so now I have to think sergeant 1st class is skilled...

if you know me, changing my original train of thought is a long path to take... I'll get it down by the next time they change ranks back to the old way again
