Remember that time you were getting raped up the butt? I got there just in the nick of time with my Saturday Night Special? Boy, that rapist got soft in your hole real quick, and took off running like a bat out of hell!
Those were the days...those were the days!

There are a lot of people (myself included) who are very unhappy about the patriot act, and other choices made. I am honestly suprised we have not seen a case make it up to the higher courts on the constituionality of this. I would venture to guess, that a good case of someones rights being violated that could be used, just hasn't happened yet, so we haven't seen the legal challange yet.DaGip wrote:Unless of course you have a 9-11 type of attack, then the Constitution becomes totally meaningless to everyone...Security over Liberty! As to suggs. That is a valid opinion to have, you are welcome to hate guns, or fear guns, or just think they look mean, whatever you opinion is, is great. But, if you really want to discuss the US gun laws, how about something other than flat out statements about how all guns are evil. If you want to actualy discuss US law, and what is involved in it, fine, but I would rather have a good discussion, that is not ruined by people coming in make unfounded comments, with no data to back up their stance.

And this bill passed the house already, and is moving on to Senate.
no one should say that our right is being tested.

Discussing the abuses of the Patriot Act on American citizens is another thread entirely, but the revokation of your rights to bear and keep firearms will be based on the same concept as the Patriot Act. Martial Law you would have no rights, look at New Orleans after Katrina. The military and police could just walk into your house and sieze your guns without court order. It was done all under martial law, if the entire United States were to be put under Martial Law, you would have no more rights under the Constitution. The plan is already in place, it is waiting to be executed:dewey316 wrote:There are a lot of people (myself included) who are very unhappy about the patriot act, and other choices made. Some people in the military would side with the American citizenry and the Constitution, I think.GabonX wrote:Man that would kick ass if you were in the military...
Choose your sides wisely.
Are you willing to give up all your rights? If not, then you have already chosen your side.

Yes, it is much easier for martial law to be declared in a city that was just devistated by a huricane, putting into practice nationwide would be whole diffrent matter. The thing about the constitution, is that, those are the rights you have, if our government or an invading force tries to take them, we either need to stand up, or we passivly hand our rights over.
We are probably getting way off track, as the martial law stuff falls under the posse comitatus laws, and that opens up a whole new can of worms. All that I can say, is that I hope that the next 20 years, will see our courts hearing and overturning some of the laws that have been passed.
