Revamp the points system
Many low ranks are whining about the high ranks only playing high ranks. It's because the damn points system is wicked. When I win a game with for example 7 average 1200 points players I get like 60-70 points when I win. That is not very much, but when I lose on the other hand I lose friggin 60+ points. In my opinion that is insane.
And when you play a 8 player game you risk alot because some of the low ranks attack the high ranks just because they see them as a threat and the high rank can be out in third, fourth or even second round sometimes. So it's a big risk meeting those low ranks especially if it's more than 1 vs 1.
I don't have a good solution to this yet, but I will try as hard as I can to find a better points system.
What do you guys think?
If you have a good solution to this please post it!

Scoring Adhoc is in progress
We're working on it, and are most of the way to a scoring solution, but we've got a few bugs to iron out before we can tell Lack "this'll work."

Re: Revamp the points system
i agree , it makes me not want to play low rank players , think maybe the scale of point loss compared to rank etc needs to be reduced a bit.

Yeah, I really don't think low-ranked players like myself should really earn so many points for winning just one game Of course, maybe Colonels shouldn't earn quite as many points for defeating a cook as they do beating another colonel, but...
hmm... I have an idea:
If the lower rank wins, the point transfer is always 20, as when you beat someone your exact rank; if the higher rank wins, then the points awarded goes down as it does now. This will prevent new players from being used as point farms, but it won't cause a single win by a cook to be so devastating.
Personally, I've always liked the formula for how points are lowered for an easy win... but it shouldn't work the other way around.

My opinion doesn't matter much. But I like the points system. The reason I think it's good is because when you're at the top it shows you have more skill to out last, out think, and out maneuver your other opponents. It takes a lot more skill to get to the top then include having to stay at the top, it's tough to keep it up but... if you're good enough you'll stay there or if you drop some you will be able to get back to where you were. I like the challenge of having to keep my points and if I go on a losing streak oh well I know I'll be back eventually.

We're not saying that the point system is bad. We're just suggesting a specific change to part of the system that's hurtful. Because one loss by a high-ranker to a low-ranker is so devastating, there are two bad things that happen, to both types: High-rankers are hurt because they're destroyed for just one loss, and low-rankers are hurt because high-rankers are too hesitant to play low-rankers. (And yes, I realize that there isn't a specific boundary. I'm speaking in generalities.)JesusReigns wrote:My opinion doesn't matter much. But I like the points system. i really dont know...perhaps a revamp would be nice. but i like to consider what might happen to all the low rankers out there. they would not get nearly as much joy out of defeating a colonel and earning 60+ points because they would earn...i dunno ...let us say 20? the reward for defeating a bunch of people who play 8 player freestyle doodle earth assassin games would be much much less...and make these games less addictive then they are now...high point gains are how low rankers climb the board...it feels good...do they keep their rank? depends on their skill...once you reach corpral its more difficult to keep climbing that scoreboard and much easier to fall back down...i know it is...it took me what felt like a long time to finally climb to the rank i am now...its not going to be easy for me to keep it much less achieve the rank above it. IN the end as long as their is still a way and motivation in points for low rankers to climb that board and perhaps a less punishing blow to high rankers from one loss (100 points can be lost at max!) i fully support a new score system.

As a low ranker myself, I feel that I would be more able to climb the board if it wasn't so dangerous for high-rankers to play me. I learn more, therefore improve more in games against high ranked players. Also, I'd rather rise in rank through a series of well-earned wins with moderate gains (20 points per opponent), than one lucky game where I earn 80 points from one opponent.vrex wrote:i really dont know...perhaps a revamp would be nice. but i like to consider what might happen to all the low rankers out there. they would not get nearly as much joy out of defeating a colonel and earning 60+ points because they would earn...i dunno ...let us say 20? the reward for defeating a bunch of people who play 8 player freestyle doodle earth assassin games would be much much less...and make these games less addictive then they are now...high point gains are how low rankers climb the board...it feels good...do they keep their rank? depends on their skill...once you reach corpral its more difficult to keep climbing that scoreboard and much easier to fall back down...i know it is...it took me what felt like a long time to finally climb to the rank i am now...its not going to be easy for me to keep it much less achieve the rank above it. I think it should be changed to (Loser's score/winner's score)*10+10.
This is so much more fair, because there becomes 10 minimum points per win from each player, and if a major beats a private they will instead get 14 points instead of 8. I think its more fair
