There is a limit 100.. thats plenty.. if you lose to a 400 pt player you deserve to lose 100.tals wrote:You should be more confident against your abilitiesdugcarr1 wrote:do u guys not here what im saying,,,, 15 points LOSE AND WIN plus the gay percentage on top of that.
or at least let us have the option off who plays with us.
i for 1 dont want to talk to 100 players or write 30 emails just to set up a game and give out "specail" passwords to only the cool people.
i dont really havn't the time or am a snob enough to do it that way.
im only asshole enough to block anyone with a shitty score that i play against![]()
I'm at the moment working my way up - went to a very lowly 777 and now back to 984 and climbing, the points works well - trust me at this level 15 point loss hurts a whole heap more than 35 points to you. I think maybe the points breakdown needs to be looked at and maybe a limit set to ensure crazy losses arn't encountered. It definitely shouldn't be flat rate though.

100 would hurt indeed.. but with the current point system if you are a good enough player you'd be back up in no time because when your point total drops 100 pts you are getting alot more per win.tals wrote:Depends if he is a 400 point player because he didn't change away from freestyle quick enoughI lost most of my points (was around 1200) to freestyle games. Not playing those again
50 sounds a more realistic cap - 100 would hurt big time.

Take me off your ignore list and I'm one more person that you can;
1. win more points off of
2. or lose less points too
After reading all of the previous posts, I suppose that I'm the proverbial black sheep here...I really couldn't care less about the point system. I play games for both the strategic challenge and because it allows me some time off from other real-life issues---my 'get away' if you will. Guess I'm just a bit naive...kinda assumed most other players were that way as well...

its not that i hate it so much,, i just feel that haveing a high rank makes me a taget.
also it makes me not wanna play players with a lower rank.
i do play for the game not for the score, but the fact is the ranking is making us segragate eachother and that being said and if it is here to stay i would like to see it more fair., as it only bring dissatvantages to stronger players.

Re: lol
Dug - There are lots of Majors out there, so being a major doesn't make you a target. I once played Belzbub when he was a colonel (and I was a major) - and I definitely targeted him, as colonels were rare then.dugcarr1 wrote:its not that i hate it so much,, i just feel that haveing a high rank makes me a target
Whats more likely causing people to target you, is the feedback count you have.... Anyone who's got negative feedback into double figures, would be investigated by me if they were in one of my games.
Re: lol
Actually, if people were playing with the proper insidious logic, they would play to win first, but if they don't think that they're going to win, they would hope that the opponent with the highest score wins. They would perhaps adjust their play to minimize the risk of getting beat by a private. For example, all things being equal they might try to eliminate the private, because if they get bad dice and fail, at least that private is not in a good position to win. I don't play that way (honest!), but I wouldn't doubt that there are some high-ranking types that might.dugcarr1 wrote:its not that i hate it so much,, i just feel that haveing a high rank makes me a taget.

how about...
How about for games with many players, the longer you stay in, the less points you lose. I just lost a game after coming very close to a win, and I lost just as many points as anybody else, the other players falling out 3 and 5 turns beforehand. also, in a recent team game, my team member missed the first three turns, leaving me in the lurch, and I lost more points than him! otherwise, I think the point system is very good.

Round 100
And no end in sight, the last time a player got eliminated there was in round 16. Imagine the disparities in point losses once one of the three players that are left gets tired and the game actually comes to an end.
And besides your suggestion would cause the number of escalating cards games (which I LOATHE) to, well... escalate.

The point system is solid, and is very similiar to the game of Chess and its rankings. It does suck for me to lose 49 points and win 8, which means in public games I have to win 7x and lose once, and I gain only 7 points total, I must win 7 of 8 games, very difficult to do in the random public arena, but I do it usually, but extremely difficult. I have no problems with it at all, except they may want to bridge the gap a little. I like Scorba's idea of elite games and I play those more now, good going there Scorba, great vision for that idea. Now, Dug or someone may need to create under private games a password for 1200 to 1600 ranikngs only and that will settle the problem there. Good Luck.

Yeah, i have to agree, the point system is good.
Buy playing public you have to be prepared for anyone to join and if a low rated player joins and just happens to win, they get points.
I suggest a cap on the amount of points you can gain or lose so if a low rated player gets a few lucky dice rolls and wins, they doesn't instantly shoot up a lot of points.

there is a cap, 100 per player
if you lose 100 points, the player deserved it.
if you want some high ranked enemies then just like taunt colonols and captains into private games or start public games when everyone is on and they can join right away
