im not sure given some of the things it looks like that role can do, whether or not its valuable to have diplomats around or whether or not it is playing with fire.

It is a lie. Please find this proof you speak of and PM me or post it here. I think you've got it wrong.lord voldemort wrote:no its notClive wrote:g is a lie...

to me it sort of seems like we have an endless civil war scenario here. I mean you find out someone isnt in your faction, and i would assume to a point (though id have to reread the outline again to make sure) you probably want to be the last faction standing, or have some ally of yours be the last one.
So in theory anyone who comes out as other than town should get jumped on by anyone other than those in the immediate group or as current allys.
But heres (where in my mind at least) it all goes to shit.
If koesen was spamalots diplomat was he the only one who had that kind of power? Seemingly he probably was as i cant imagine clans have a number of joats in their ranks.
So if thats the case youd assume spamalot was essentially dead to rights in as far as improving their position, because if recruiting is the key to shifting those alliances....at least one of their recruiters (if not the only one) is now dead.
Which brings us to cat at hand mr cena and his rules.
If he is a diplomat, and theres not a lot of reason to assume hes not...lynching him eliminates his faction from moving forward farther (or would seem to give it a pretty big hit). Now in the short term thats probably good for town and other factions since anything that weakens your non allies is probably good for you.
But in games like these id think in the long run if you arent picking away at each faction a little at the time (from the town perspective at least) you are hosing yourself.
Hence i dont know if i can vote for cena.

Requesting you to elaborate on this. And I asked him to roleclaim because if he is scum (a highl likelihood at that point), he is not generally good at fake claiminggot tonkaed wrote:But in games like these id think in the long run if you arent picking away at each faction a little at the time (from the town perspective at least) you are hosing yourself.
And now that he has claimed at belonging to a faction
unvote vote cena

the issue seems to be, if you start jumping at factions, especially diplomats (though this seems to be almost an accident as much as anything) what happens when only one or two groups have diplomats? Those groups seemingly have a better shot at overpowering and its gg town.CrabNebula wrote:Requesting you to elaborate on this. However, the more diplomats there are in the game, the more people are recruited from town/other factions. Assuming that there are more town than the factions combined, it would be more town that are converted than the other factions. And it would be disastrous if it is not stopped or the rate reduced.

7 different factions...if there are even 3 people in each group (which im sure there probably would have to be at least...i cant see only having 2, though i suppose its possible) then 20/32 left are faction members. The percentage play seems to suggest people will be recruiting (should they choose to - im not sure entirely how the role works, if you can recruit every night or not) then its most likely factions balance themselves a little bit.CrabNebula wrote:However, the more diplomats there are in the game, the more people are recruited from town/other factions. Well yes its upto debate whether they have 2, 3 or more but I assumed 2 since its the lowest number possible.

personally i find 3-4 more likely than 2-3, given that its probably easier to set up a game with non-vanilla roles with fewer town roles to hand out and more standardized group roles to give out.CrabNebula wrote:Well yes its upto debate whether they have 2, 3 or more but I assumed 2 since its the lowest number possible.

Unvote, vote: cena
FOS: anyone not wanting to lynch cena, his scum buddies I assume.
Leaving any recruiting role alive is a bad idea, period. The 50% chance of death is bullshit I bet, a last-ditch effort to save his skin.
The key to any game with many small factions, as already pointed out by g_t I think, is to get rid off small bits of each whenever it becomes convenient; especially the faction's recruiter. In my opinion if you don't agree with this you're part of their little scum group and trying to protect your buddies.

Oh and the g_t/hecter thing, if g_t was scum and made said slip up, hecter would be dead today. g_t is more then a smart enough player to cover his tracks if he screwed up.
Also, no need for modkills in my opinion, seems like an honest mistake.
I once sent pm's to the wrong people in a game when I was the godfather about who we should kill, mistakes happen. And with g_t and hecter I can see neither of them wanting to drop it and not reply to the pm from the other person for fear of looking like an idiot/scum.

Um.. no. Chances are if he can improve relations between factions, he would be third party.mr. incrediball wrote:i.e. you belong to a faction.cena-rules wrote:ill say my role but not faction or name

not if most of the factions want to kill each other.Minister Masket wrote:Hardly. There's 7(?) factions, so that would put the town:ratio out of balance, yes?mr. incrediball wrote:

The town would get killed in the process, so according to your logic, all factions would win.
Not a very probable prospect, yes?
