[05-Mar-2008] Server overload this week

The database server has been under an increasing amount of stress since we've upgraded the web servers, but yesterday it just tanked unexpectedly, making the website barely useable.

A database expert from the hosting company took a look under the hood today and made some changes. Things are running better now but it's just a band-aid solution to keep the ship afloat. We are ordering a new and improved database server, which will take a few days to prepare, so please bear with us.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and soon we'll have all the horsepower to make conquering the world that much more enjoyable.

UPDATE: As advised by the database expert, the game log will only load the 50 most recent entries by default. This should be enough to review the action since your last turn. To see the whole game log from the start of the game, just click on load entire log.

maybee an idea wenn this crap happens again to just shut down cc completly ....because its no fun wenn turns take 20 min for 3 days ....

maybee think more of quality instead of quantity ??

Them new servers worked great for a little while up until the last couple weeks.

Maybe you should clean the database?

Start archiving old forum posts, deleting inactive members etc...

Yeah $25 is well worth it, I would pay more if you needed it.

Now maybe if you did not have so many freeloaders some of these problems would be easier to avoid?

While i don't know the coding behind this site, I can imagine that moving to phpbb3 is not a simple task. I'm sure most of the api has changed for user management, etc... basically, the whole site will need to be recoded.

Dustbin lid valves,BFO exhaust system,Carlos fandango wheels and ICE that makes your head implode on low volume would be nice.The go fast strips just dont do it for me.

What is the point of that?.... Then we'd have complaints from everyone about how the site is shutting down and their money wasted.. Better to be able to take some turns than none. Especially when you can't get the quality immediately.

Glad to hear the server problems are going to be done with, it's already much improved
