i think that you should connect the island in the yellow area to the purple territory. I dont like those territories that can only be attacked one way. i think that they arent useful and just waste space on the map, so please connect them. thanks,

Ok, Version 2:

Changes:
1) Added ports.
2) Removed certain sea routes.
To do list:
1) Territory names.
2) Large map.
Is everybody happy with the port anchors? Also, are they placed on the right territories?

I like the look of this map - nice and crisp and clean.
1. I agree with edbeard that you should try and keep to the physical boundary of Panama, without needing bits of Columbia/Costa Rica
2. I think that the port sybol is a bit too black for the map at the moment - either make it slightly grey, or reduce the opacity slightly.
3. I'm not overly keen on the font you've used for the title... it doesn't quite fit with the look and feel of the rest of the map.
4. You've misspelt Costa Rica
5. You could have the ports as seperate territories (ie not part of the land territories)
6. I'm not sure the gameplay is very balanced at the moment - I haven't had n in-depth look, but Columbia looks very strong and easily defendable... you could easily expand into Darien, and hold both continents with defences in 3 territories (both ports and in the red country on the green border)...
7. I still think you should include the canal...

1. I added those because the map has hardly any territories. I don't see it that big of a problem. In the Europe Map, it has parts of Africa and Russia. In the Montreal Map, it has parts of Monteregie and other places. I just don't really see how it will matter too much, except making the map have more territories, which is a good thing.
2. Ok, thanks, I will lighten the port symbos.
3. Ya, it will eventually be changed. I just haven't found the right font yet. Thanks.
4. You're correct. I will fix that.
5. I don't really like that idea too much, but if everybody else likes the idea, then theres not much I can do except do it.
6. I guess if Oaktown ever decides to look here, I guess he will help out with the gameplay. But I have no idea what it should really be worth.
7. No, canal. If I do, it will not be a territory as suggested a little bit ago.
Thanks again for all the help.

If you were to zoom in, then you'd have plenty of space to add more territories to meet what you have now, or possibly get more.
You don't see France with parts of Spain or Germany with parts of Netherlands.
Also, do you realize that people complain that the Europe map has parts of Africa in it?
If you're not going to take out those territories then at least don't call it Panama. Call it Panama Region or something.

To everyone voting for the canal:tenio wrote:I vote canal
that is why the US helped panama to become a country
what would adding the canal do for the map?
A blue line across the countries, confusing people?
A rediculously small country?
A "here be the canal---->" label on the map?
Seriously, besides the panama=canal link that everyone seems to have, what would it do for the map either for gameplay or graphics?
Also, a second issue. With the ports on each side, wouldn't people assume that since there would be a canal painted on, that ports on both sides could attack eachother, because the canal links the two oceans?

uh, it would be an impassable??? anyways i would never have even heard of panama were it not for the canalwcaclimbing wrote:To everyone voting for the canal:tenio wrote:I vote canal

On the map, it says that all ports can attack other ports on the same ocean. Even if I had the canal on the map, it still wouldn't make both sides the same ocean.wcaclimbing wrote:Also, a second issue. One of the biggest complaints about the Europe map is that it has bits of Africa and Russia in it.lanyards wrote:Thanks for all the help Mr. Benn. I really appreciate it.

Sorry all about not having an update for about a month, I have been really busy. But I will try to get updates from now on as soon as possible.
Version 3:

Changes:
1) Added some of the territory names, just to show what they will look like when they are all in.
2) Added the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean labels.
To-Do List:
1) Finish territory names.
2) Large map.
3) Comments?

I think your map could be ready for the main foundry, but I don't think putting a request in the thread title is good form. There's lots of people waiting to be moved. Let the cartos do their jobs. You JUST made the 2nd update so give them time.
On to the map. I'm still miffed about this map being called 'Panama' but including areas from two surrounding countries. It's quite possible to make a map with only this country. Or, at the least this shouldn't be called Panama since it's not only Panama. I'm not hugely concerned with the canal, but it appears many other people are.
I'm not sure the title quite fits with the look you have in the rest of the map.
I think you could save a bit more space by decreasing the thickness of your thicker borders by a point or two. At the very least it might look a bit better.
Do you plan on having army circles? This might work without them. Another space saver possibly.
Maybe add a bit more glow to your territory labels since the Golfito label doesn't look good when it crosses a border and I think that's going to occur quite often on this map.

To get your idesa stamp we still need the following:

It does say that they can only attack ports on the same ocean.Wisse wrote:nice map, but why can the anchors attack all anchors, it is strange that they can attack unconnected terretories at the other side of the land, if i were you i would have mad 2 different collored anchors or something like thatalso the sea does look blurred
