Is turn synching considered cheating?
I am in game 70097 and I believe that my only remaining opponent has cheated to win.
I had the advantage in the game after taking my turn while both players where present. My opponent then dissappeared and waited until 5 mins before the end of the 24 hours to take his turn. Effectively preventing me from takeing my turn.
Then he takes his second turn 5 mins later and pretty much wipes me out.
I know this is a dishonest and unsporting tactic but is it considered as cheating because if its not it should be.

Its not cheating, but yeah, it is kinda low... however:
This is why I don't play freestyle.
Why did you wait 45 seconds from your last fortification to end your turn? He attacked the place you fortified 5 seconds after you did, and you had to know his turn was winding down.. you should have ended your turn asap so that you'd have control of starting the next round.2006-09-20 10:23:32 - Phil1979 fortified Lebennin with 2 armies from Anfalas
2006-09-20 10:23:37 - Higamy fish attacked Lebennin from Ement and conquered it from Phil1979
2006-09-20 10:23:44 - Higamy fish attacked Ithilien from Lebennin and conquered it from Phil1979
2006-09-20 10:23:56 - Higamy fish attacked Emyn Muil from Ithilien and conquered it from Phil1979
2006-09-20 10:24:11 - Higamy fish fortified Minhiriath with 2 armies from North Downs
2006-09-20 10:24:18 - Higamy fish gets a card
2006-09-20 10:24:18 - Phil1979 gets a card
This is why I don't play freestyle.
Ishiro I was trying to fortify armies from elsewhere to stop him taking my territories and breaking my continents. He was taking them too soon and I was getting illegal fortification messages.
Something needs to be done about this flaw because you can effectively stop your opponent from taking a turn and that is cheating.

As I've said before, this loophole reduces freestyle to a joke. It can easily be sorted out by re-starting the 24 hours as soon as the first player to move in a round begins their turn. Everyone should get 24 hours to take their turn.
Taking an enemy on the battlefield is like a hawk taking a bird. Though it enters into the midst of a thousand of them, it pays no attention to any bird other than the one it has first marked.
Why is it cheating? Its a ciffernt style of the game. When you play any game you try to use all the rules to your advantage. If you play a game of Risk in real life and someone forgets to take their card after their turn, do you remind to take it? Or is it their loss because they forgot? some people play one way and others play the other way.

Say you and I are the only two people left in a freestyle game, but I have to act first. That means you have no choice but to wait for me to make my move. Therefore I can wait until 23 hours and 55 minutes into the round to take my turn and end it quickly. Then in those last few seconds you actually miss your turn (since it has to occur within the 24 hour period) which means I'm the first person to act in the next round as well. So you didn't get a chance to play at all that day and I played twice in a row. That's not a strategy IMO, its bullsh*t. That would be like playing a home game but never giving the other person the attacking dice...then sayig "whoops, its my turn again" and going twice in a row.
So in a game of football your team is ahead by 3 points with 5 minutes to play, they sould give the other team the ball to give them a chance to tie the game? Or in baseball the intentional walk should not be given to the oposing teams best batter like they used to do to Barry Bonds the past couple of years?
If you are waiting 23hrs and 55 mins to win the game the game is probably pretty close to being over anyway, and if not you aren't leaving yourself much time to make decisions if the plan doesn't go as planned.

If someone won a card at the end of their turn on a game of risk and I took them all away and stopped him having one then I would be cheating.Evil Semp wrote:Why is it cheating? Thats what happened here. I was stopped from taking my turn. By a flaw in the game and some scumbags dishonest tactics.
Firstly, Are you aware this is not football???Evil Semp wrote:So in a game of football your team is ahead by 3 points with 5 minutes to play, they sould give the other team the ball to give them a chance to tie the game? I really dont think you understand the concept of what is being said here. My cheating opponent ended his turn seconds before me. Then it was his responsibility to go first. He waited until just before the 24 hour period to take his turn. I had a 5 min opportunity to take my turn which I was obviously going to miss. So I go down as missing a turn. Then at the end of that round my opponent can take his second turn.
I raise another point.... In a cards game, it should be called cheating because the cards are what win you the game. By turn synching your opponent takes away the possibility of earning a card.
