You mean there are Black people on the Internet????owenshooter wrote:how many are in your KLAN?-0AAFitz wrote:Is the percentage really that small? Its kind of disappointing really.
I never knew... I thought this place was SAFE!
Maybe the percentage of Black people on CC is an accurate representation of the percentage of Black people online in general?
Besides... CC is a strategy game... we all know that's not good for Black people. They're more suited towards games like Grand Theft Auto.
I mean every word of the following, but i wouldnt take this as seriously as it seems....Im once again, just calling a bluff... a dangerous oneowenshooter wrote:YEAH, you got me!!! he is HALF CHINESE!!! how is that another black face on CC? it is a great question and an interesting thread! but hey, toss out your one minority member to show your liberal KLANS recruitment policy. ahem... nobody was saying anything about your KLAN, you just opened up the door for the question. and now, you are like the guy sitting in the conquer club HR office, looking twill in the face, saying,"hey, that remark wasn't racist, my best friend is black!" ha!!!AAFitz wrote:Kind of puts owen on the spot for klan refferences and calling our voting process racist then.Genghis Khan CA wrote:I'm in THOTA and I'm only half whiteAAFitz wrote:Im sorry if youre assuming that Thota is all white, I simply have no idea if thats the case.

No, im just pointing out that its dangerous to make assumptions about peoples races. I still dont know what the race of all the players in Thota are, and its of no concern to me.
Youre the one trying to cause trouble, use racially charged phrases, and accuse a group of open minded great guys essentially of being racists, which I think is completely uncalled for. You do it only for fun, and disregard the feelings and reputations of the players in a particular group, which is practically racism in itself.
My point was never that Genghis was half chinese and therefore thota wasnt racist..... it was that I had no idea what race he was, nor did I care, because it was not important to me, nor is it important to any player in Thota, and Id like to think its irrelevant to most on CC. It is still possible from my point of view that 4 other players come forward to say that they are African Americans or any number of races. It simply isnt important to me what their race is.
Youre assuming theres 5 players that are black on this site, whereas Id have assumed there were hundreds or perhaps thousands. I simply never gave it any thought. It also isnt important to me what the race of any player is in here. Its great that theres diversity, and Id like to see more of it. Its why I posted that Id be so disappointed if there truly were only a few black players.
You throw out the word Klan as a joke, whereas I see that word as the epitome of evil. It disgusts me to see it in print, and the only benefit I get out of it, is it permits me to vent this disgust for a group of evil and misguided men.
I never opened up any door to having thota being called a KLAN... you did it just to be funny and disregarded the people in thota completely for a joke. That seems very familiar to me for some reason... a person making fun of a group of people because of their assumed race, just for the sake of comedy... it sounds like racism to me. Saying a group has racist policies while not knowing anything about their players, or about their voting policies is simply judgemental, and obviously done for inflamitory purposes... and worse, just for a laugh.....
I joined in this conversation, because I found it unfortunate that there were possibly only 5 black players on CC. You continued it just to get a rise out of people, and try to be more funny, while ignoring your impact on other innocent players on the site.
You may find it funny, but insinuating that other players are possibly racists, or prescribe to racist policies of any kind is serious. Its a complete personal attack disguised in the form of a joke. You keep telling me you think you are winning this little exchange, and I tell you I completely disagree, because you are ignoring the actual conversation completely, and just going for the quick joke. This would be fine, but since you are ignoring how an entire group of players would react to this, you have simply sunk to a level, I hope I would never let myself stoop to for just a laugh.
You even continue to use the word Klan with a K for comedy purposes, when its obvious that several of the members are completely uncomfortable with it.
I didnt point out that GK was half chinese he did. I simply said that you were assuming the clan had racist voting policies, and shouldnt have.
I know you mean this all in fun, but throwing out such accusations to an obviously innocent group of players is simply uncalled for. You want to get away with it, and im simply calling you out on it. A group of 15 to 20 players in a population this big, that doesnt happen to, or more importantly might not include a black player, when the percentages in the population are very small, does not reflect racist policies obviously. Further, thota's players are is on the top 2 pages out of 87 pages of players, so the population its members comes from is very small. However, if you look at the many flags of the members, its obvious that many different countries are represented, and that no racism of any kind ever enters into the equation. While I do not know the race of the members of THOTA, I do know their character, and know each would be offended at even the suggestion of this.
You said you were winning this, because your posts were funnier perhaps, but labeling a group of people, in the interest of a joke, and just saying, "its just a joke" is pretty much the excuse people have used for thousands of years, isnt it? If you need to do that to win, then win... for me it just wouldnt be worth it.

dear lord. if you read ANY thread on CLANS, i always call them KLANS and say i don't want to join. i have posted it in SEVERAL of your THOTA threads and have used it countless times. i have NO IDEA why or how you think this thread is about you and your horsie dudes. it isn't. i'm in 18 games with one of your members right now, and talk to several of them on a regular basis... sooo, get over yourself and your perceived slight of your klan on my part. it was a serious thread about a serious question that has yet to be answered. and i have only seen 4 black faces on CC, 1 of which was fake. you can say hundreds, you can say thousands, but you can't prove it, can you? this is not about you or our PM's, it is a question i posed and took the piss out of you and your clan based on your response and then back pedaling to justify THOTA's membership (which is hilarious, who cares how you select your members? if i were interested, i would apply, right?). anyway, you need to relax, you are beginning to crack!!-0AAFitz wrote:

Now youre just backpedaling... it is funny that its almost exactly the response I told you should post though...owenshooter wrote:dear lord. if you read ANY thread on CLANS, i always call them KLANS and say i don't want to join. i have posted it in SEVERAL of your THOTA threads and have used it countless times. i have NO IDEA why or how you think this thread is about you and your horsie dudes. it isn't. i'm in 18 games with one of your members right now, and talk to several of them on a regular basis... sooo, get over yourself and your perceived slight of your klan on my part. it was a serious thread about a serious question that has yet to be answered. and i have only seen 4 black faces on CC, 1 of which was fake. you can say hundreds, you can say thousands, but you can't prove it, can you? this is not about you or our PM's, it is a question i posed and took the piss out of you and your clan based on your response and then back pedaling to justify THOTA's membership (which is hilarious, who cares how you select your members? if i were interested, i would apply, right?). anyway, you need to relax, you are beginning to crack!!-0AAFitz wrote:

But Ithink my "you should cut down on the caffeine" would have been much funnier though.
I know youre joking, and you know im joking... however, you did specifically say that THOTA had racist voting policies. It just went a bit too far.
And Im completely with you, I truly hope there are more black players in here. It would be a damn shame if there weren't.

check the time of your PM and the time of my post. i don't need writers. and i never said there was anything racist about THOTA. you just claimed that there were mass amounts of black players on CC and i simply asked how many of these massive numbers were members of THOTA. the only policy i know of in THOTA is the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. and we already covered that... and i'm dead on serious. i really wonder how many black players are on here.AAFitz wrote: it is funny that its almost exactly the response I told you should post though...
i never thought in terms of race on CC before, perhaps nationalities, but not race. and then i saw a new black face, and realized i only knew of THREE black players on CC... so i asked... is that so bad?-0
p.s.-i own you in this thread, just like i own THOTA on the battlefields of CC... my victories are littered with your members bodies...

I never said you copied what I told you to say. I simply said my suggestion was better, which was sent before I read your response. I obviously guessed your response perfectly before you even posted it...... though I was expecting it to be funnier ... you my friend were owned.owenshooter wrote:check the time of your PM and the time of my post. i don't need writers. and i never said there was anything racist about THOTA. you just claimed that there were mass amounts of black players on CC and i simply asked how many of these massive numbers were members of THOTA. the only policy i know of in THOTA is the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. and we already covered that... and i'm dead on serious. i really wonder how many black players are on here.AAFitz wrote: it is funny that its almost exactly the response I told you should post though...

I honestly don;t think many black people play risk.. let alone on a computer.... who knows really but this racial stereotype may even stretch to all board games..
I've played Dominoes and cards with West-Indians but if you've ever played dominoes with a West Indian you'll know that is more a contact sport than a game!
So in short I think Brothers prefer Yahtzee!

aside from the GRAND THEFT AUTO comment, i'm not sure what brothers play, anymore! i mean, dominoes, pitching pennies, billiards, sure... but i just don't see BOARD GAMES and RISK being high on the list of games played by the majority of black people...-0jiminski wrote: So in short I think Brothers prefer Yahtzee!

I told a lie earlier, on reflection i did also play risk with a Rasta once..but to be honest he was only humouring me by playing.
He'd never say it because he is a humble man but i am pretty sure he hated the experience.
Grand Theft Auto comment?
Agreed AA, but over the last couple pages only a few of you are actually posting on-topic. If it continues in that manner, it'll be moved, which would be a shame, as I'd rather read intelligent conversation on this topic.
I would guess the only way to tell is to make a thread/poll and assume that's a sample of the population. But then again, people here don't vote polls correctly anyway, so can't really trust those answers anyway.

all i know is, there is no way to figure it out without asking everyone on the scoreboard their nationality and ethnic makeup, and we all know that isn't going to happen. it is just a really interesting sociological question that can span across many nationalities!!! you can't discount that i have only seen 3 REAL black faces on CC, and one fake one, you just can't. perhaps CC is like Seinfeld or Friends for the internet... you know... they live in manhattan and never see any black people.. well, that was true of seinfeld until they brought in the johnny cochran knock off... and no, i didn't watch that show... -0

Yes, youre right of course...my black and white comment, was just something I couldnt help but throw in there.wicked wrote:Agreed AA, but over the last couple pages only a few of you are actually posting on-topic. Owen definitely brought up an interesting point. I naturally assumed there would be at least hundreds of black players in here, and statistically, Id be astonished if there werent close to that. On the other hand, not many discuss race, and as mentioned, I have no idea of the races of the players in half of my clan.
Ive grown very used to the fact that there are many players from different countries, ages, races and backgrounds in here. Without a doubt the diversity is what makes the place great.
Unfortunately, there have been some players that have obviously crossed the line into racist posts, so I would possibly guess that some may decide to keep their race personal, so as to just avoid some ignorant child from trying to elicit a response.
Personally, putting myself in Owen's shoes, if I were black, and had only found 5 other black players, Id be somewhat disappointed. Granted, Id probably console myself on the fact that they were probably just doing something more productive with their time..... not to say such an activity actually exists.
ditto re: mayonnaise appreciation commentjiminski wrote:Just in case you were refering to me Wicked; my posts were related to the likelihood of black people playing CC. and were based upon my real-life experience... that has to have a baring on who plays CC.
I personally would never have found CC unless i loved Risk first.

i found both of your comments valid and humorous. especially jiminski, he brought up the sociological aspect of black people and board games. i have never played a board game with a black person outside of my family. parlour games? yes... cards? yes... i thought it was more of the attempted bad humor comments Wicked must have hit upon while catching up on the thread. i think it is interesting!-0khazalid wrote:ditto re: mayonnaise appreciation commentjiminski wrote:Just in case you were refering to me Wicked; my posts were related to the likelihood of black people playing CC. and were based upon my real-life experience... that has to have a baring on who plays CC.

I think there are lots of reasons that there is a very small minority of black faces on here.
Culturally i think black people are less predisposed to board games which are generally indoor pursuits.
It needs to be cold for you to get bored enough to play a boardgame which includes more than 2 people. (the Scots love Monopoly!)
Now you say that Ausies and Texans play but they inherited the habit from their nippier ancestors!
Also, and specifically related to CC, i would say that black people on the whole have less access to computers!
Regrettably, I think that it is still true to say, Black people occupy a disproportionate total of the poorer people in 'developed' societies.
And Africa is buggered.. An English inventor (Trevor Bayliss from memory) for example invented the clockwork computer to get around the problem electricity supply. They are still expensive never-the-less and who wants a computer when what they really need is a drink!
