lol,

There are no cannibals in Tasmania. As far as I know there is no evidence to suggest that there has ever been cannibals in Tasmania. Possibly there are crazy people who have eaten people occasionally in how history. Actually there was a famous bush ranger who got lost in the Tasmanian wilderness and ended up eating some of his friends to survive - but that was over 100 years ago. Australian society is just like American society except we are skinnier, more humble and more intelligent ;) (I'm joking about that last part).

Obviously you feel very emotional about this issue.

Now for a moment imagine being a Palestinian who has suffered having your home taken away from you by foreign invaders (to you), having your children killed by an aggressive military and having hundreds of thousands of your country men killed.

I'm not in anyway saying that this would justify any actions taken but can you imagine that somebody in the position I'm laying out would feel equally angry and hateful towards those people - regardless of if there were any justification relating to those actions or not?

When the 9/11 attacks happened there were 3 demands made by the terrorists.

1. US to stop supporting Israel

2. US to remove soldiers from Mecca

3. US to stop supporting dictators in the Middle East

Now I completely understand how you feel. I too feel very, very strongly that killing innocent people to further your political goals is completely immoral and intolerable and should never ever be accepted but I think it is really, really important to understand how other people feel - what leads them to these actions? I don't accept the "they are just evil" argument, I think there is more to any action than just that. Definitely they should be punished - it would be impossible to deny justice to the many victims and friends and family to the victims; and indeed not just to those people but even to people like myself who knew nobody in those attacks but still find it one of the most significant events in my life. However we also need learn from the tragedy. I'm not in any way saying that the US brought these attacks on themselves or that they "deserved" them. People should not take responsibility for other people's actions nor should they blame themselves for such abhorrant crimes however we having had this occur once, I feel we owe it to the victims to try our hardest not to let it happen again, otherwise their lives really were lost in vain. Part of the reason behind these attacks is a great feeling of injustice and hatred felt by the Islamic community, especially in the Middle East. I'm not saying that in any way that this feeling is justified - I don't know if it is or isn't. However it is pretty clear that they feel very similar to the way Roger Doger feels. I think if we could understand this, if we could appreciate our similarities and relate to each other there would be a lot less conflict in the world.

History shows us that unresolved conflicts don't go away and that the hatred builds up until the different sides get to a stage where peace is impossible. Are we building that environment for our children? Will we still be fighting the "war on terror" in 100 years? I don't think there are any easy solutions to this conflict but I think the first step to resolution is understanding each other. We don't need to agree with why they carried out their actions or approve of it or tolerate it, we just need to understand it.

why are you wearing a Marine Uniform?

first of all the palestinian thing has been happening since like forever. what about the suicide bombers. is that okay too.

I AM pro-Israel. not pro-Palestinian. War is hell everyone is a casualty and, you know why because good mommys & daddys use their kids as shields. well, a family that fights together should die together.
can you honestly say you can, in a state of war seperate a friend from a foe? can you do that?

A holy war ? and a war for a spit of land?. Israel was willing to compromise but, palestine wants it all. well, what,

Passing thoughts...

Perhaps if the U.N. would pass another resolution against the terrorists, they will stop suicide bombing. Hey, it worked for Iraq, right?

That's not a picture of me - it's a picture of Major Michael Mori. He's the defence lawyer for David Hicks - the only Australian left in detention at Guantanamo Bay. He's a very big hero of mine because I see him as one of the very few people in the world who has integrity and does what is right, not what is best for their own agendas.

I'm not questioning who is right or wrong, good or bad. I'm asking you to try to relate to how some of the Palestinian people feel. I'm asking you to understand them.

Well I think there is more to it than that. He's constantly attacked his government and the decisions of many of the people within the US military. He has stated on a number of occasions that what the US military is doing in many areas is wrong and immoral. His job was just to defend David Hicks in the military tribunals but instead he has criticised the military tribunals as being unjust, as well as the treatment of David Hicks and the validity of the Gauntanamo Bay prison. I don't think the US military would pay somebody to publically criticise them and call their actions immoral.

Sadly, I believe so...if anyone is still around.

Whether we like it or not, it is now a religious war and those never die.

He doesn't show disrespect to those people or use contemptuous words - he just says that what they're doing is a violation of US law and of international law. Although that said efforts were made to silence him at one point but they failed.
