Is giving away information during a fog game acceptable?

Its frowned upon and could be gronuds for a negative.

But i odnt play fog so im not 100%

i believe it is acceptable, meaning you will not be banned for it, BUT, the players you are playing with might get pissed, which will result in sudden negative feeds. So, as a frequent fog player, i would not suggest it for sake of sportsmanship.

I consider it a legitimate strategy, especially if the information that you're supplying is false. You can use the fog to further your own cause while casting doubt on anything other information being supplied when people find out that you were lying. It adds another layer of strategy to the fog.

That would only work in noobish games, since experienced players could easily find out you are bluffing.

if people neg you for it they are just mad cause they probebly lost afterwards

i absolutely find it a legitimate aspect of strategic play. might i also mention that it is just as easy to lie about board information as it is to reveal the truth.

Completely legit and if I ever get to play a fog game (I'm freemium with no free slots and my games tend to go on a looong time) I would be very surprised if no information about positions was exchanged at all during the game.

i dont really play fog, i only tried once and didnt like it that much, but i think the people you play with might get mad...depending on the person, of course. it probably does add some more interesting strategy to the game, but ive got my hands full even without lying to people and trying to coordinate stuff my way.[/b]

I've been burned and used this to my advantage before. Generally I take no reliance on what others are saying during fog games unless I can verify by what I can see.

As long as you reveal the same information to everyone (eg. in the chat) I can't see any problem with it.
As already pointed out there is nothing saying you can't be something of the following:

Out of your mind

Lying, decieving

Ironic

Crazy

etc.

Being that, to certain limits, is not forbidden.

on second thought, it could be considered strategy. If there is EVER ANY rule against any specific strategy, I'd bet Lackattack would see bankruptcy coming at him like a freight train.

Fog of War should not be about giving away information whether it is truthful or otherwise. It should be about finding an opponents weakness and attacking through it blitzkreig style and hoping its not a trap!
