logic fail, would it not be in our best interest to send maps where we perceive the biggest difference between our skill and yours in our favor? Just because we are confident does not mean that it is the best decision as a home map.

what do you think does Nadal more like/enjoy to play match vs Federer (example for both players top skilled) or he more like/enjoy to play a match vs someone outside of top 100 (example for big skill difference)? I am sure that he more likes/enjoys his matches vs Federer.
The same here, what I want is having top class challenges (in games which I will be in, I am not speaking for other games). if I notice that you have some top CC players on particular maps which I also like to play, you may be sure that you will receive that maps like our home maps. for example, you may also expect feudal epic. I know you have Ninja Champion, maybe the best CC player on that map (who had regulary spanked my ass in our feudal games) but I am not affraid of having top class challenges, I wish to have it as much as possible. I believe you are also not affraid to play top class challenges instead of challenges on some anonymus maps where maybe you know some strategic detail better than rest of the site.

TheSpaceCowboy wrote:Our map selection has been planned out. We may or may not send Hive, but will both clans adhere to sending it in the first set if it is sent? Is there an agreement on that? Those games take months.

I have never seen an agreement that hive games going on 1st set, nor I would agree on that. hive games usually do not last longer than some other quads maps (cMAN, FNA, World 21, ww2 Europe, Supermax...). here are just a few the newest examples from my hive games which prove it:

KORT- FOED: Game 9326894 Hive ended 26 days ago
Game 9326897 and Game 9326895 Cman, FNA still ongoing. FNA will be ongoing a lot more days.
all 3 games started at the same time.

KORT- AOC: Game 8767821 Hive
Game 8768900 Forbidden City
FC lasted 35 days longer than Hive and both games started at the same time.

so I do not see problem of delaying whole challenges because of hive games. Hive may be the longest lasted game (just like many other quads may be), but very rarely it really is the longest lasted game, especially in quads mode.

our main reason to decide in which batch send which games is players' (un)availability. if we have hive team defined and one player is on vacation in some batch, then better send it in another batch IMO. having strictly decided batches when we have to send some games may cause not sending the best team, due to someone's vacation, or sitter joining by some player , what is considered unfair, so better have more flexbility in deciding when to send which games.
I see that TOFU sent 5 quads in batch 3 in quarterfinals, so if you agreed in quarterfinals to have free choice of gametypes per batch for each clan which caused half of TOFU quads sent in last batch, then I do not see why we should now agree to send hive or quads in early batch.

:-s Right. Send hive when you want to. Bruce merely suggested sending longer games first, when convenient to do so. That makes sense, and we agreed to it. You were on that PM. Why the debate?

I guess some clarification on any agreements might be in order. In theory, there could be 4 hive games going from the third round that could postpone the finals for some time. With 350 territories, it is the sore thumb of CC maps.

Bruce, I hope you don't mind if I quote your PM, but I don't see why you would. It's a reasonable PM and clarifies both our positions.

Bruceswar wrote:BTW just to make sure we are all on the same page. All quads do not have to be sent in batch 1, but would like to get some of them started as they take longer. If you guys and gals wish to space out the quads to lighten to game load that is also OK. KORT will not be sending all quads in round 1.

Moe, I agree that despite Josko's proof of exceptions, hive can last a long time. I would hope that KORT is reasonable enough to try to do all within their power not to postpone the finals by sending the longest games first, when it is convenient. Based on the PM's from Bruce, I feel that they are. Both sides have agreed to leave game types sent each set up to the discretion of each clan. It's what we did with TOFU and it really is most convenient, because of working around vacations, as Josko said.

Josko, when do you intend to send hive? If the first batch is not convenient, will it be in the second batch?

Ugh, of course it is more fun to play people equal to your skill in a single game...but the ultimate goal of playing a challenge is to win. You can bet your ass we are going to send the games we think we have the biggest chance to win whatever those are. Also i dont know anything about tennis but i do know that in just about every other sport people scout their opponents and try to base their strategy on the weaknesses they see in that scouting, and i can only assume this is the same in tennis. Oh and dont go acting like we are afraid if you dont see maps that you would have expected based on both sides having skill on the maps. This is a strategic game, it would be a shame for you to judge us for using strategy.

Oh and just because two games of hive finished before other games does not make it a general rule. The game could be over faster in terms of the winner being decided and then players taking the turns quickly while in the other games it is still up in the air so people are taking more time to perfect their turn. Even then Hive could be filled with more active players and be 30 rounds but finish in 30 days where C-Man is filled with less active players and goes only 15 rounds but takes 60 days. I havent even looked at the games to see if either of these happened but it is possible. There are many factors that contribute to game length other than just map size.

Less debate. More trash talk. I don't think any actually believes that all this back and forth is really truthful. KORT will not be sending HIVE, nor will they send Feudal Epic. We will not actually do any of the things we have said we will do. Let's move on.

You were joking about that right? Hive and Epic that is. We usually play hive 2 times. We try to space it out in batches.

Hive is generally not our longest game given the settings we use. Triples generally last longer than quads, but that is another story. You guys should be less worried about the time Hive will take, and more about winning the challenge overall. ;) O:)

The joke was that it's a paradox. By saying we will not do anything we said we will do, the statement negates itself. It's just not funny if I have to explain it. Thanks for ruining my attempt at wit. Put your helmet back on Bruce.

Yes, there is an unspoken agreement to send the longest games first. The spoken agreement was "let's send most of the quads in the first or second set", and telepathy took care of the rest. It's so weird melding minds with a cow.

we plan to send it in 2nd batch probably, for sure not in the first batch, because we have some vacations in 1st batch (which cause we cannot have hive team which we planned). the only reason why I preferred that to be unspoken agreement is that it can always happen some unplanned vacation for some member of our hive team just about batch 2. chances that it happens are not so huge (maybe 10%) but as long as any chance that it happens exists it is better to not have strictly defined restrictions for something that is not so important in whole war (the way of sending home games).

however, if you really think that a hive game started in batch 3 can delay the whole challenge a lot, I am ready to have official agreement to send hive games by both clans (if any) in batches 1 or 2.

Don't worry about a possibility of delaying the match with something like that. We plan what to send primarily around vacations as well. At this point, if we are waiting on 1 game to finish, this will have been an epic challenge. We should all be so lucky.

The joke was that it's a paradox. By saying we will not do anything we said we will do, the statement negates itself. It's just not funny if I have to explain it. Thanks for ruining my attempt at wit. Put your helmet back on Bruce.

That's not a paradox!

as new challenges starts where old ones ends, let's start this one where our last meeting ended. I believe Empire enjoyed wearing their old sig ;)

I love that sig. You will have to replace quite a few people on there, however. Chuck, Chephren, and Toxic Mickey are not active/with us right now. How about some love for mk, jj, space, ninja, and the rest of the gang.

Oh, and why do I think that on-line ass-spanking of the ladies is as close as you've gotten?
