i wrote this in anotehr topic:

i think i finely know what this bug is about look to this:
you have got 5 cities, and i think the xml makes this fault, its combining every option:
5 citys = 4 armys
4 citys + 1 city = 3 + 0 = armys
3 citys + 2 citys = 2 + 1 = 3 armys
2 citys + 2 citys + 1 city = 1 + 1 + 0 = 2 armys
3 citys + 1 city + 1 city = 2 + 0 + 0 = 2 armys

is a total of 14 armys

I made them all capital letters to match the font graphics on the map. Sorry if it's annoying. Hopefully the new/revised xml will be replaced soon.. Thanks all.

I agree its a nice map but all those capital letters has to get a thumbs down
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

Yeah, I say change the XML so it's not all caps.

Other than that, incredible map. Glad this one got quenched.

I'd honestly prefer the letter case to be normal. :)

I'll change the xml to be upper/lower case today. I'll post the revised xml here when I get it complete.

Above is the link to the revised XML with upper / lower case names. I think almost everone would appreciate replacing the current xml with this one. This was the most recent xml document with the <overrides> to fix the citta bonus bug.

I don't think the XML has been updated. I was deployed with 2 cities at teh beginning of the game
http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=1027758
and did not receive the bonus of +1.

It's weird - I have played 3 games on Italy and received the correct bonus each time.

Here are my games links:

Game #958302
Game #998852
Game #1015929

Widow,

I figured out your problem. You haven't actually begun your turn yet. You will receive the appropriate bonus when your turn comes.

It is BOB that has a problem with partial pairings bonuses. Until you get the full group, BOB won't indicate that you have earned the partial bonus. AND, to top things off - when you do get the full group, BOB then indicates that you get the group bonus PLUS all partial bonuses. This is also an issue with the Pearl Harbor planes groups.

I'm thinking of a "revamp" on my first map... Italy.

The Nobodies - there has been discussion in the italian forums about an italy map. I think Lupo or some of the folks were not happy with this map. I'm guessing it's gameplay/accuracy. For this revamp, I would like to focus on graphics only - not gameplay.

Is this allowed?

Yes, the discussion was about gameplay and accuracy.
For us Italians this map do not reflect exactly the vision we have of our country.
But i think that what we had in our mind can't be called a "revamp", it's more a new italy map. (for which is very hard to find a real support)
What's wrong with graphics? :?

I can do better.

As far as accuracy - i understand. Some region borders were moved, and some cities were not in the correct place. I can do better here also. I may give it a go.

in a map revamp, there are no changes to connections. regions can be renamed and moved and their shape changed, but they must always connect to the corresponding region or regions on the new map, otherwise games in progress (as well as logs of finished games) will be completely upset. the germany revamp is an example of one where most regions were renamed and moved.

personally, i dislike the gameplay on this map because its small size ought to make it most suitable for 1v1, yet player 1 usually has a 4-3 deployment advantage because he starts with 12 regions and player 2 normally has only 11 because he loses 1 region by the time he plays his first turn. on a small map, it's really difficult to turn things around if u have a 1 troop disadvantage every turn. we can overcome this by making 1 city start neutral, though this need not be tied to the revamp process and u need to have more than a single complaint about it before u feel that u have to do something. having said all of the above, the map has an attractive pastel colour palette that i'd like any revamp to retain (at least in part) and, being the only italy map, i still play the odd game from time to time.

ian. :)

With these GP issues present, why not make a new italy map RJ with teh help of the Italians in the forum.

New GP
New GFX
New Map.

This will make everyoen happy (keep the old and make a new)

RJ here a list of things, but i'm going to use more my italian heart than my brain...

  • the lack of the Apennine Mountains, they could be a good impassable for the "Centro" and the "Sud", their presence influence connections between the two different side of the boot.
  • Milan, it is the most important city in the north (the biggest metropolitan area in italy), well know in all the world for fashion and finance, but it's out of the cities bonus (due its position near torino - i think). :(
This page is not perfect but it can give you an idea. ;)
  • Po river,it isn't the Po river.http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Po_bacino_idrografico.png.
  • Venice on the land?
  • Our division of Nord,Centro, Sud e Isole is different:
Also some important archipelagos are missing:Egadi ,Pontine,Tremiti
  • Connection Naples-Sardegna, here a page with all the water connections with the island Scroll down the page.
  • Adding ponziane and maybe Capri, you can add those 2 to "overheat" the game in the Tyrrhenian Sea (sardegna border with them instead of rome and Naples(?)
But, as said, i have a different italy map in my mind... ;)

I absolutely love this map. Take note map makers. This is a fine example of a canvas that is not overworked. Clear, simple, and very pleasing to the eye. The drop shadow on Italy is all the thing needs to give it interest.
Nice one R.J. =D>

There was support for a new Europe map a couple of years ago - which triggered my foray into mapmaking... why not start a new project: "Italia" ;-)

Spoken like a true Italian :)

Thanks for the list - all very important. Too bad you weren't around a few years ago when I made this. If i try to incorporate some of this into an Italy map, it would change gameplay for sure. So maybe an "Italia" map like Benn suggests is the way to go. I'll think about it.
