2010-02-24 00:38:34 - yankeesfan88: i really should have read this before taking my turn
2010-02-24 00:38:46 - yankeesfan88: thanks for the tips anyway
2010-02-24 00:53:52 - Coleman: I like the fog dynamic on this map that's why I was complaining, the planes also serving as eyes is nifty. gl all
2010-02-24 00:54:00 - Coleman: lol I already said that, yay memory.
2010-02-24 00:59:16 - Coleman: Robinette I must confess I didn't believe you because of your rank so I looked at all your old games and this really is the first conquest style map you've played on. O.O My mind = blown.
2010-02-24 20:11:31 - natty dread: meh... i've been having really ugly dice all day. i wonder if it has anything to do with my chinese horoscope?
2010-02-25 02:45:19 - Robinette: lol, yup, i didn't even know that these were referred to as 'conquest maps'... are there alot of these?
2010-02-25 02:46:14 - Robinette: wow... i suppose the bigger question is, are there other types of maps out there... i mean, other than normal play and 'conquest' ?
2010-02-25 02:50:47 - Robinette: so i get a card for bombarding, even if i didn't take it over.... i remember that from playing Peral Harbor, lol, but it was 1/2 way thru before i discovered it... there isn't so much bombarding on that map, just a few AA's that can do it.
2010-02-25 02:51:52 - Robinette: but then... i suppose you already knew that, huh? *smiles, slightly embarrased*
2010-02-26 13:08:15 - natty dread: maps can be divided in roughly 3 categories, based on drop: "standard" maps that start with random drop all over the board (like classic), "conquest" maps that start with starting positions (like this map, feudal, new world) and mixed which have starting
2010-02-26 13:08:34 - natty dread: positions and rest of the territories random (like third crusade).
2010-02-26 13:10:16 - natty dread: yeah, you get spoils for bombarding neutral troops, for some reason. it's a strategy some people use on conquest maps, they stay put and build their stack while getting cards from bombarding neutrals. i don't much like that strategy myself, but it works
2010-02-26 13:10:37 - natty dread: for some games.
2010-02-26 15:43:16 - Robinette: ok, i notice all but 1 of you have completly left your home base... and ender plays after me, so maybe it will be ALL of you....
2010-02-26 15:44:05 - Robinette: feels a little freaky, but i suppose i should do the same (not sure why, especially this early)
2010-02-26 15:45:13 - Robinette: isn't that the only way we receive 3 to start our turns?
2010-02-26 15:47:29 - Robinette: lol, i couldn't see the harm in maintaining some homeland security,,, i just HAD to leave a few there, lol
2010-02-27 04:50:04 - Robinette: so natty, i'm really at a loss trying to figure out to what end the posturing should be right now,,, from what u said before it sounds like the action will be at the center, is it the bonus? or the ability to take over another "base" ?
2010-02-27 04:51:10 - Robinette: i mean, i get that it is key to an elimination, but that is certainly not till round what? 10? 15? or so???
2010-02-27 23:03:52 - natty dread: well... it's a fast paced game, with the spoils growing. as i said, there's no point in going for the paf until you know you can take it and you can use it to eliminate someone. it takes some planning, some good timing and some good luck...
2010-02-27 23:04:47 - natty dread: the best way is to let someone else take out the neutrals and then take it from him... of course, if you do that, you'll want to make sure your commander won't be vulnerable.
2010-02-27 23:06:43 - natty dread: however the commanders get 3 troops autodeployed on them each turn, so it's quite safe to move your troops out from the commander at the beginning.
2010-02-27 23:08:06 - natty dread: the best thing i like about this map is that it has so many different strategies. you can go for the plane and just bombard for cards and build on your commander. or you can take one of the central polish commanders, like cyan has done, and then just wait
2010-02-27 23:11:29 - natty dread: for a good opportunity... some like to storm paf as quick as possible, but i don't think it's a very good strategy, since you lose troops taking out those neutrals.
2010-02-27 23:12:26 - natty dread: if we compare this to classic esc., i think the biggest difference in game dynamics is that there's less strategy involved in positioning your troops to kill someone, since pretty much everyone is accessable through the paf. but the rest of it is pretty
2010-02-27 23:12:41 - natty dread: similar: you build your troops and wait for a good opportunity to take out someone...
2010-02-27 23:13:24 - natty dread: i'm sorry if i'm being a bit incoherent, i've been having a nasty headache.... :p
2010-02-27 23:33:23 - Robinette: thanks, that helps alot... i'll just keep my eyes open,,, let me know if i'm missing something i should see.
2010-02-28 02:04:21 - Coleman: I'd like to thank all of you.
2010-02-28 14:28:16 - natty dread: you're welcome, both of you :p
2010-03-01 15:42:33 - Robinette: well now... THAT's certainly an interesting development
2010-03-01 15:44:09 - Robinette: it's not terminator... and it's too soon to run the board... is he planning to take the neutral bases? that's what i would do i think.
2010-03-01 15:45:11 - Robinette: lol, like i know,,, lol....... help me out here, i would like to understand all the angles
2010-03-02 14:31:33 - natty dread: i guess he's just trying to block anyone else from eliminations...
2010-03-02 14:32:26 - natty dread: perhaps also wants the bonus... or maybe he doesn't know what he's doing and just goes by touch'n'feel... who knows... ;)
2010-03-03 05:03:45 - Coleman: This is not what I expected to see by my next turn.
2010-03-03 14:15:30 - yankeesfan88: I can't help but think my elimination was a bit premature, but this has been an interesting experience either way.
2010-03-03 14:15:34 - yankeesfan88: gg guys
2010-03-03 15:59:16 - Robinette: mnnnn... well, barring the cursed 2 pair... this has a very predictable sequence, so i simply must cash...
2010-03-03 16:00:49 - Robinette: but doing so sets up Coleman for a pretty clean shot at you natty... so perhaps yankee is right... but it's all new to me, so i'm still observing (and learning)
2010-03-03 16:01:45 - Robinette: sure wish i knew who had 2 pair....
2010-03-03 16:08:15 - Robinette: Am i seeing this right? jd is dead either way, right? lol... what a train wreck, lol
2010-03-03 16:11:28 - Robinette: well... maybe that will change things... ;o)
2010-03-04 03:39:49 - Coleman: It took slightly more troops than I would have liked.
2010-03-04 04:20:00 - Robinette: whooooo.. look at you with the 3 card set, too bad you didn't get to cash it, lol
2010-03-04 04:21:25 - Robinette: still would have had you though, even without the double cash... but it would have been tougher, especially with the 3 card cash..
2010-03-04 04:22:00 - Robinette: Anyway, thanks for the game all... oh, and thanks for the points too... hehehee
2010-03-04 06:10:09 - Robinette: although 57 pts for a 6 player game is pretty weak, lol
2010-03-06 20:40:35 - natty dread: heh... i sucked at this one. gg though
