2010-01-01 01:11:17 - wolfpack0530: quick question for you CoF and Dako. What type of game load do you like to carry. Mine is around 70 and as a result, my rank fluctuates irradically all the time. But every time i see you guys, you are holding your high rank
2010-01-01 01:12:34 - wolfpack0530: I do play alot of tourneys, and as a result lose to low rankers and lots of points go poof ect. Once you reach a level such as yours, do you play all team games against similar ranks, or do you take on all challengers at any type of game and just win at
2010-01-01 01:12:46 - wolfpack0530: a high percentage?
2010-01-01 01:13:38 - wolfpack0530: just curious, i thought i would take this opportunity to learn from two of CC's finest
2010-01-01 03:27:25 - Dako: i reached 2500 by playing only escalating 6player single games with equal rank. after that i switched to team games mostly (80%) and few other settings i enjoy.
2010-01-01 03:28:21 - Dako: i don't play singles tournaments (tried once but it was not interesting). so team tournaments only for me. And yeah, i don't play freestyle since clickies were invented and i don't use them
2010-01-01 03:29:53 - Dako: also, medals is not my goal, thou it is always a nice surprice to get one :). but anyway, i play for enjoy and not the points (but i have my goals there as well).
2010-01-01 03:44:55 - Chariot of Fire: I'm a bit different to Dakes. I've never had much success with multiplayer esc singles (I think I've won 2 of my last 40, just to give you some idea of how I leak points in that format).
2010-01-01 03:45:56 - Chariot of Fire: I'm surprised I've been able to hang on to my rank tho - it's my mission to get to February and have been a general for 1 year - coz I'm not shy of tournaments
2010-01-01 03:47:04 - Chariot of Fire: My average win earns between 10 and 16 pts, with every loss being somewhere between 26 and 40, so I have to maintain a high % (around 70%)
2010-01-01 03:48:02 - Chariot of Fire: this I can achieve by playing mostly team games as I really like the quads format and have a lot of time to spend looking at every move that's made - I think that's the key difference
2010-01-01 03:48:37 - Chariot of Fire: and I do try to avoid singles whenever possible due to the luck factor
2010-01-01 04:17:08 - Chariot of Fire: tho defending Waterloo in lufsen's 'Bring It On' challenge means I have to face any challenger, even cooks, in 1v1
2010-01-01 04:22:15 - Chariot of Fire: so I guess the secret is, pick your best format and make it constitute the majority of your games (without going to the extreme and being elitist or a closed shop)
2010-01-01 09:23:25 - Chariot of Fire: oh, and re number of games on the go....I used to play 60-70 but have now reduced that to about 20-30 since starting the clan as that can keep me pretty busy
2010-01-01 11:54:34 - Dako: my max was 50 games and now i am doind 25-35.
2010-01-01 18:04:00 - wolfpack0530: wow guys, thanks for the responses. Very enlightening. I could only dream of a 70% win lol. However, since joining O&H, i have gone from 30% up to 36% :)
2010-01-01 18:13:08 - Dako: it's not the percentage that matters but the points you get. 70% is possible only if you don't play escalating games and farm noobs a lot (like our conquerors do)
2010-01-01 18:13:44 - wolfpack0530: gl holding general for a whole year. that would be quite an accomplishment
2010-01-01 18:39:17 - Dako: and I struggle to get to stable brig before 1000 games. But for now I am happy to play with my clanmates and polish my skills. Too many things I need to learn from higher players.
