2009-10-20 05:43:48 - Master Fenrir: Can I ask something? This map with no spoils and fog, did you basically spend the first 5 turns or so setting up to take a bonus and stacking up the 6-9 stacks around them for protection?
2009-10-20 05:50:31 - Chariot of Fire: It's a tricky one to answer, coz there's a combination of so many things. I guess in order of priority it would be as follows:
2009-10-20 05:54:43 - Chariot of Fire: 1. Deprive the oppo of any perceivable bonuses (so we set blue up to hit PzrGrenadier15, a bonus orange happened to own on the drop). 2. Identify which of yr team are closest to gaining a bonus and feed them and move off the spots they need.......
2009-10-20 05:56:33 - Chariot of Fire: ........hoping the oppo hit yr solitary 1 which wd have to be taken anyway. And 3. In a no-carder find a safe spot (as I did) and just deploy and fort yr team mates. It's just as good to have 1 terr and a 3 deploy as it is to have 11 terrs n a 3 deploy
2009-10-20 05:59:13 - Chariot of Fire: and whilst those rules apply to any map, there's an additional benefit on this one of taking the south (less terrs to take control of, n everything can be anchored on 9th Panzer & VII Infantrie - a tactic that eventually paid off for us.
2009-10-20 06:01:29 - Chariot of Fire: hope ths helps/explains. It's a great map to become proficient on, but be wary of careless team mates who can't read roman numerals very well, lol (not applicable in this game - my mates did great - but I've seen it happen). The terminology can confuse
2009-10-20 06:06:07 - Chariot of Fire: and if it helps to identify where u went wrong it was probably when u didn't capitalize on the strong position u held on 18th Volks, V Panzerarmee & Army Gp B. A push south from there wd have found our soft underbelly, but u guys often deployed in the NW
2009-10-20 06:08:32 - Chariot of Fire: .....where u didn't have good bonuses going for u (apart from one time that slate took Armoured with cracking dice in Rnd.2)
2009-10-20 06:10:44 - Chariot of Fire: you'll be able to learn a lot when the game finishes and the fog is lifted
2009-10-20 06:11:37 - Chariot of Fire: anyway....great playing with u guys - it was a fun experience and always a challenge on a map such as this. Nice to get the grey matter working
2009-10-20 06:24:50 - Master Fenrir: I didn't expect such a thorough response. : ) Thanks, CoF.
2009-10-20 10:08:30 - brian fletcher: not blowing our own trumpet. and we do appreciate your advice. but in blitz`s battle of annihilation tournie. we won 7/7. now whether that was just good luck, good teamwork, or simply we hadnt played a team as good as yours
2009-10-20 10:10:07 - brian fletcher: is anyones guess. but its always nice when an outsider can spot where we went wrong and give us a few pointers.... thanks and well played
2009-10-20 10:17:24 - Dako: Also, what CoF posted is true for quads and maybe trips on Ardennes. When you are playing dubs and trips it is more important to secure different small bonuses (and there is a lot of them) and let your opponents rush to break all of them.
2009-10-20 10:18:30 - Dako: At this map there are a lot of 'joints' where a bunch of terrs connect to the outer world. It's not only south/north but also smaller parts. It is important to spot strong ingluence of your team at such parts and work from there.
2009-10-20 10:19:26 - Dako: Reinforcements is one of the most important parts in team games - here it has double value I think - again cause of this joints. If you manage to conentrate the force of your team in one join and hold some bonuses - you will be able to strike
2009-10-20 10:20:21 - Dako: down the opponent and still be able to preserve your bonuses. When it comes to dubs/trips it is important to let 2 players hold about 15 terrs so they can deploy a lot. It is not a good idea to keep someone as deployer only in Esc games, thou or dubs game
2009-10-20 10:21:55 - Dako: It is easy here to hold 6-7 terrs with 2 borders only and have +2 or +3 bonus inside. You just need to develop ti from the start and not to be afraid to attack teammate for a later bonus (if you are sure you can keep it).
2009-10-20 10:56:18 - Daryth: hmmm. 20 beat just 7 lol
2009-10-21 06:31:25 - Dako: gg
