2008-07-17 16:19:24 - Smokingdude420: and heres what a Heathen means - an unconverted individual of a people that do not acknowledge the God of the Bible; a person who is neither a Jew, Christian, nor Muslim
2008-07-17 16:27:45 - LoeNY: so I'm Heathen since I'm a Buddhist
2008-07-17 16:39:15 - Smokingdude420: opps sorry i responded to my team yeah i would suppose so since you dont acknowledge the God in the bible
2008-07-17 16:41:39 - Smokingdude420: now i dont know anything about being a Buddhist so I dont know if you its a form of Paganism but as far as I know you worship one
2008-07-17 16:41:54 - Smokingdude420: so i dont think so
2008-07-17 18:26:43 - LoeNY: Opps I responded to my team also... We don't really worship a god or goddess, "worship" in my branch of Buddhism takes the form of devotion to Buddha and to Bodhisattvas.
2008-07-17 18:27:13 - LoeNY: However, Buddha and Bodhisattvas are also like teachers. We are now students, but one day we could all be teachers.
2008-07-17 21:00:36 - Smokingdude420: oh ok so i use the term worship lightly but ok cool never knew much about it learned something new
2008-07-18 17:30:07 - Calidrmr: i learned something too! even tho i spent 3 years in Japan, never knew much about Buddhism...
2008-07-18 20:27:26 - kagetora: It helps when the country is actually mostly Buddhist. Japan is mostly atheist, with Shinto as second highest
2008-07-19 04:29:33 - Calidrmr: wow...learned something again...i thought Japan was mostly Buddhist...& now that you said it, i do remember Shinto...
2008-07-19 04:30:31 - Calidrmr: i just remember seeing alot of Buddha's around, but they also have others...The Goddess of Mercy comes to mind...
2008-07-19 05:33:02 - LoeNY: Goddess of Mercy is a Bodhisattva.
2008-07-19 05:36:43 - LoeNY: This is what I got from Widipedia:
2008-07-19 05:37:24 - LoeNY: The primary religions in Japan are Buddhism and Shint? (??, "the way of the gods"). Most Japanese people do not identify as exclusively belonging to just one religion, but incorporate features of both religions into their daily lives...
2008-07-19 05:39:47 - LoeNY: From another website: Religion does not play a big role in the everyday life of most Japanese people today.
2008-07-19 05:42:45 - LoeNY: Are they atheist, I don't know... maybe just not very religious
2008-07-19 05:44:46 - LoeNY: It is kinda like Christians not going to church. lol
2008-07-19 06:13:47 - Smokingdude420: lol well never knew that before so Bodhisattva is a Goddess and Buddha would be a God? i dont know i think im more confused now then i was before lol
2008-07-19 12:19:19 - Calidrmr: thank you for the info, eric...learning is cool...although i feel like SD, just a little confused...lol
2008-07-19 22:32:05 - LoeNY: I know... it could be confusing. Let me see if I can explain further.
2008-07-19 22:33:47 - LoeNY: Bodhissattvas are not Goddesses and Buddha is not really God. They are more than God.
2008-07-19 22:35:30 - Smokingdude420: ok
2008-07-19 22:37:15 - LoeNY: However, Goddess of Mercy or Compassion is a manifestation of Sanskrit Avalokite?vara (or Guanyin)
2008-07-19 22:38:00 - LoeNY: Sanskrit Avalokitesvara
2008-07-19 22:39:19 - LoeNY: He/she is commonly known in the West as the Goddess of Mercy.
2008-07-19 22:40:59 - LoeNY: The Buddhist canon states that bodhisattvas can assume whatsoever gender and form is needed to liberate beings from ignorance and dukkha.
2008-07-19 22:49:26 - LoeNY: God got angry with people and created mosquito. lol Buddha and Bodhisattva will never get angry.
2008-07-19 23:12:44 - Smokingdude420: hm i kinda get it but at the same time i have no idea what your talking about
2008-07-20 02:59:17 - LoeNY: Oh well, I tried... to really understand I guess you need to read a book.
2008-07-20 02:59:59 - LoeNY: Oh... Sanskrit Avalokitesvara is a Bodhisattva.
2008-07-20 03:03:11 - LoeNY: It's like set and sub-set. Dodhisattva could be (thru manifestation) god or goddess but not all God or Goddess could be bodhisattvas.
2008-07-20 03:55:51 - Smokingdude420: yeah i'd have to read a book about it to truely understand i mean i get what your saying its just hard to understand how it all fits in place i guess i dont know i cant explain it just like Paganism its difficult to explain how you feel and what you see
2008-07-20 03:56:19 - Smokingdude420: to someone who has no idea what your talking about
2008-07-20 17:50:16 - druid_cent: Paganism at it's roots is essentially nature worshipping.. it's simplified quite a bit and doesn't plumb the depths of the true meanings..
2008-07-20 17:50:40 - druid_cent: Especially since pagan's don't refer to themselves as pagan's except in the modern day...
2008-07-20 17:51:19 - druid_cent: Buddhism simplified is a religion of peace geared towards personal enlightment with the goal of attaining ultimate peace
2008-07-20 17:52:13 - druid_cent: Bodhisattvas are guides on the path...Buddha himself is just a guide, and he never meant for him personally to be worshipped..
2008-07-20 17:52:59 - druid_cent: gah.. oops.. Japanese (before being converted to buddhism and Christianity) were Shinto
2008-07-20 17:53:38 - druid_cent: Shinto is a form of ancestral worship with spirits (kamis) guiding life and events..
2008-07-20 17:58:50 - Smokingdude420: ok in the first place theirs many different types of Pagan worship yes there are some that just try to become one with nature but most worship deities as well
2008-07-20 18:04:21 - Smokingdude420: actually Paganism at its roots was worshipping gia which is a deitie not just nature
2008-07-20 18:39:34 - Calidrmr: alrighty, then...this is all pretty painful to my brain atm...lol
2008-07-20 18:57:35 - Smokingdude420: gg everyone
2008-07-20 22:11:07 - LoeNY: Very well said Druid, thanks.
2008-07-20 22:12:56 - LoeNY: Buddha himself is an example of how any human being can attain ultimate inner peace.
2008-07-20 22:38:26 - LoeNY: There are many like Buddha (and they are buddhas too) who have attain Nirvana (ultimate peace). The Buddha many people are referring to is really Sakyamuni or by the name of Gautama Buddha. He is an example in our times.
2008-07-20 22:48:32 - LoeNY: gg all
2008-07-20 22:50:05 - Calidrmr: gg e1!
2008-07-21 14:58:18 - druid_cent: Great game!
