2008-04-22 01:58:45 - lunatic96: it's just our way of showing love
2008-04-22 18:12:10 - hwhrhett: lol, you guys dont really understand how to play esc do you?
2008-04-22 18:54:14 - hwhrhett: yup, gg guys
2008-04-22 18:54:30 - lunatic96: green what happened? I thought you understood how to play escalating games?
2008-04-22 18:54:34 - lunatic96: but you're the first out?
2008-04-22 18:54:40 - lunatic96: so strange...
2008-04-22 18:55:16 - hwhrhett: lol, hey, im not being an ass about it.... and it wasnt meant towards yall as an insult
2008-04-22 18:55:31 - hwhrhett: but thanks for being condescending towards me about it. anyway, gg again
2008-04-22 18:55:32 - lunatic96: i know just kidding around
2008-04-22 18:55:57 - lunatic96: I pretty much rely on luck to win escalating games
2008-04-22 18:56:13 - hwhrhett: yeah, i noticed
2008-04-22 19:01:31 - redtide: lol
2008-04-22 19:01:57 - netspyman: i dont like escalating games
2008-04-22 19:02:48 - hwhrhett: lol
2008-04-22 19:02:53 - hwhrhett: escalating is my favorite :-)
2008-04-22 19:03:30 - hwhrhett: the key to escalating games, is that continents dont matter, and dont waste any of your armies attacking anything but 1's, and dont cash unless you have 5 cards or your going to kill someone that will allow you to cash again
2008-04-22 19:03:51 - hwhrhett: redtide knows how to play escalating well i believe :-)
2008-04-22 19:04:02 - netspyman: lol like i just did
2008-04-22 19:04:47 - redtide: hw the only thing I disagree with is holding contis - if you can get and hold one in the first couple rounds, it can make a difference
2008-04-22 19:05:02 - redtide: esp. if you can get it w/out losing much
2008-04-22 19:05:03 - hwhrhett: yeah, when you used 20 armies to get an extra bonus of 12?
2008-04-22 19:07:55 - redtide: nie blue
2008-04-22 19:07:57 - redtide: nice
2008-04-22 19:08:33 - redtide: so this is a great example of when getting a bonus is really dumb
2008-04-22 19:09:00 - redtide: oh well, gg
2008-04-22 19:09:49 - netspyman: yea this is why i hate escalating
2008-04-22 19:10:00 - redtide: why?
2008-04-22 19:10:17 - redtide: I used to think it was all luck, but after playing enough realized just how much strat goes into it
2008-04-22 19:10:41 - hwhrhett: yeah.
2008-04-22 19:10:58 - hwhrhett: so two of yall dont like esc, why enter a specifically esc tournament?
2008-04-22 19:11:25 - lunatic96: it's not a specifically esc tournament
2008-04-22 19:11:31 - lunatic96: only 2/4 games are esc
2008-04-22 19:11:44 - netspyman: there not all esc games
2008-04-22 19:12:00 - lunatic96: I think it's smarter, at least in 4 player esc games to cash in a set of cards as soon as possible
2008-04-22 19:12:02 - netspyman: gg blue well played
2008-04-22 19:12:22 - netspyman: yea i have noticed that
2008-04-22 19:12:29 - hwhrhett: but the longer you wait lunatic, the more the cards are worth.
2008-04-22 19:12:31 - lunatic96: because the card trade in value doesn't start getting really high until the 5th or so turn in
2008-04-22 19:12:53 - hwhrhett: well, every little bit can make a difference in an escalating game
2008-04-22 19:13:14 - hwhrhett: and if you cash last on this round, then 3 rounds from now you will cash last again, it adds up
2008-04-22 19:13:31 - lunatic96: yeah but you're going to have to turn in eventually and in a 4 player game if you go first you're more likely to get a bigger turn in the second time you turn in
2008-04-22 19:13:44 - lunatic96: I mean, it's worked both times I've done it so far this tournament
2008-04-22 19:14:19 - hwhrhett: word, well good luck with that.
2008-04-22 19:14:28 - lunatic96: I just think once the turn in value gets about 10 you can start building chains
2008-04-22 19:14:36 - hwhrhett: i would recommend that if you want to learn about escalating, read wacicha's escalating for beginners, its very educational
2008-04-22 19:15:44 - netspyman: i like no card games its more skill
2008-04-22 19:17:36 - lunatic96: no cards games tend to over reward conservative play
2008-04-22 19:19:00 - lunatic96: people can just build up armies and not attack until they have an easy way to grab and hold a territory bonus
2008-04-22 19:19:17 - lunatic96: flat rate at least forces people to attack
2008-04-22 19:25:05 - hwhrhett: everytime i play anything other than escalating, it turns into a build game, thats why i like esc. :-) because after 16 rounds, someone is going to win :-)
