2018-02-06 20:38:52 - MTIceman41: gg..well fought, back and forth...3 card sets were key and random being awesome
2018-02-08 13:09:14 - rousseau72: surprised you guys play with card sets but I see that is an insurance policy against bad initial luck
2018-02-08 13:09:23 - rousseau72: gga
2018-02-08 23:29:16 - random21: it can be yes. it allows for comebacks. keeps constant threats for some time. game can constantly balance for first few rounds, and whatever happens in first 3 rounds, is usually not at all significant but will set the tone for the game
2018-02-08 23:29:48 - random21: first 3 sets is more tone of the game. rounds 4-8 anything can happen
2018-02-08 23:30:28 - random21: in general, its also an anti bonus incentive as well. in this case, i think you had a rare occasion where a bonus was seemingly worth going for
2018-02-08 23:31:26 - random21: but for the most part, aside from taking a friendly and risking dropping a teammate to 4 deploy from 5 like taking yellow out in that middle bonus, or us taking china which sometimes enough to deter
2018-02-08 23:32:06 - random21: normally round 1, you see what bonuses are good for you. and you just deploy in that region to knock things out but usually not outright take the bonus, just soften the opponents
2018-02-08 23:32:43 - random21: round 2 would be securing the borders and maybe even the bonus, but usually first 2 rounds not to many significant bonuses can be secured. but by round 3 or 4 certainly that in no spoils game is a great idea
2018-02-08 23:33:08 - random21: in this case, if you get a bonus around the 3 or 4th round, and with somewhat of a buffer zone in defence it doesn't mean to much
2018-02-08 23:33:56 - random21: very easily by 3rd round 1 out of 3 has set, or by round 4 someone has mixed set. so the effort you went into getting a bonus early on if the map favoured you a good drop opponents can use max set to wipe you out
2018-02-08 23:34:47 - random21: i mean its a number of things. def gives some lee way. especially if say at one team is losing. if at 3 3 3 cards each, they all have max sets, and opponents get nothing until 5 5 5 and some of those are red sets. being down with back to back sets can mat
2018-02-08 23:34:58 - random21: matter for sure
2018-02-08 23:35:48 - random21: also, if you are down, and say all teams have 5 cards 5 cards 5 cards, and so every one trades in, it is possible that out of all 6 trade ins the losing team gets better trade ins, but also draws good trade ins immediately with their 6th card for like 4-6
2018-02-08 23:36:38 - random21: 4-6 trade ins in a row for a team. its rare, i only can think of a couple times where its happened to me. but if in the rare case all players in a game are waiting until 5th card, holding off on using red or green sets, hoping to complete blue or mixed.
2018-02-08 23:37:12 - random21: you get a crazy string of turns where each team is trading in, and then the next round after 5 5 5 5 5 5 you go to 3 3 3 3 3 3 and the trade ins keep coming. its rather chaotic and fun
2018-02-08 23:37:44 - random21: the map is large enough with good attacking paths and bonuses to absorb an array of strategies.
2018-02-09 05:47:22 - All Black Rugby: GG all
