2015-01-08 03:16:46 - william tennant: It's all water under the bridge.
2015-01-08 03:17:11 - william tennant: I do have to say that I'm disappointed you are just suiciding against me josh when I offered over and over to work together.
2015-01-08 03:17:24 - william tennant: I would much more appreciate playing this one out.
2015-01-08 03:17:52 - william tennant: In a fog game, you certainly can't know what I'm seeing or what plan I might have had.
2015-01-08 03:18:48 - william tennant: Regardless, I appreciate you talking it out, and I appreciate your apology. I apologize to you for my strong language, sincerely.
2015-01-08 03:19:28 - william tennant: Bob, I think it's awesome that you actually took the time to mediate this, not many people would have done that.
2015-01-08 03:20:03 - william tennant: I play lots of team games and am in a clan. So most of my team games are with clanmates.
2015-01-08 03:20:10 - william tennant: It would be fun to try some outside of the clan.
2015-01-08 03:20:22 - william tennant: I would play any map. We could even start with this one as we all seem to know it well.
2015-01-08 03:23:33 - william tennant: [josh, if you're so convinced Bob has this won, why don't you suicide against him so I can play it out?]
2015-01-08 03:34:32 - bobzimmerman: Cool. I will set something up. It will be interesting to share strategies. Josh, Will has a point. If he still has hope, you should probably focus on slowing me down.
2015-01-08 03:39:46 - bobzimmerman: And, Will, you can attack in the north anytime you wish. I free you from the one round notice. I think I have enough back up to handle an assault.
2015-01-08 03:40:04 - bobzimmerman: If you wish to wait, I will wait as well.
2015-01-08 04:37:30 - joshzam: Trust me, if there was any chance of turning this around, i'd give it a go. I'm not one to quit or give up. ever. But Bob has more than 10x my troops and that's just on my small border!
2015-01-08 04:38:18 - joshzam: I know how many castles he has and how large his stacks are from watching his forts. There's no way. I had a choice to hit bob and lose or hit wt and lose. It's just a points thing now.
2015-01-08 04:38:48 - joshzam: I'm in a clan, too, and play a bunch of team games that way. Mostly wars. But am always looking to play more and with new people.
2015-01-08 18:42:12 - william tennant: again, though, Josh, if you were so sure, there was no harm in suiciding against bob.
2015-01-08 18:42:42 - william tennant: It's just not super cool after everything that went down to go all out against me, when you could just as easily go all out against the leader? I don't really understand it.
2015-01-08 18:43:10 - william tennant: You don't know what I was holding in reserve, how can you be so convinced in a fog game?
2015-01-08 23:11:31 - joshzam: The log tells us all exactly how many castles you have and how long you're holding them and how many troops you fort (and don't fort) each turn. It's not really rocket science.
2015-01-08 23:12:07 - joshzam: And again, I didn't want to hit the leader and risk letting you win because of the point differential. I would never throw a game if there was the slightest chance of winning.
2015-01-09 03:49:30 - bobzimmerman: Will, I believe you took me up on my offer by hitting Dorpat. Josh, I assure you Will has a pretty nice stack on my border.
2015-01-09 03:56:19 - joshzam: Four rounds will tell ;)
2015-01-09 03:56:27 - joshzam: Not that I'll be around to see it...
2015-01-09 03:59:13 - joshzam: 57v22. That's how many troops you each collected last round. And that was before bob massacred wt. I just can't stand false modesty.
2015-01-09 18:24:23 - william tennant: what is false modesty here? I'm confused.
2015-01-09 18:24:54 - william tennant: And I'm talking about what *could* have happened if you had not suicided against me.
2015-01-09 18:25:07 - william tennant: Obviously you have eliminated any remote chance that I have.
2015-01-09 18:25:26 - william tennant: I'm looking forward to playing triples with you guys but I'm really disappointed in your actions in this game Josh. I really just don't get it.
2015-01-09 18:26:32 - william tennant: horrible dice that round did not help.
2015-01-09 18:27:26 - william tennant: If you say you didn't want to "risk letting me win" then you're admitting I had a chance!
2015-01-09 18:27:29 - william tennant: I don't understand you@!
2015-01-09 18:28:05 - william tennant: And why are you telling me about the log again? I know how to read the log. And again"it's not rocket science" sounds so condescending.
2015-01-09 22:39:23 - bobzimmerman: I think the false modesty was mine.
2015-01-09 22:52:05 - bobzimmerman: I think helping assure that the higher ranked player win to minimize your loss is a legitimate strategy. It's not a meaningless suicide. I personally would rather let players fight it out to the end regardless of rank.
2015-01-09 22:55:52 - bobzimmerman: And sometimes we just don't get the other guy's thinking no matter how hard we try to communicate. No wonder there are wars!
2015-01-10 00:58:55 - joshzam: I should probably explain myself better. First, yes bob, the false modesty was to you. ;) Talking about wt's nice stack on your border when we both know that it pales in comparison to your reserves.
2015-01-10 00:59:23 - joshzam: I mean, come on! I'm not sure why you even mentioned it at this point. Politics can safely be thrown out the window when you're cruising to a victory in round 27.
2015-01-10 01:01:10 - joshzam: And wt, I'm sorry if I sounded condescending. I was trying to emphasize how easy it was for me to be sure about your reserves in response to your question. You said I didn't know what you were holding. I'm pretty sure I do. It's like counting cards.
2015-01-10 01:01:18 - joshzam: I didn't mean any offense.
2015-01-10 01:02:27 - joshzam: As for the "suiciding", I insist that I was out of the game. And as bob pointed out, my strategizing to minimize point loss is totally legit. I know that not everyone cares about points or rank. I just happen to be one of the people who do.
2015-01-10 01:03:38 - joshzam: So even though I was convinced that bob was going to win this game about five rounds ago, there would be no logical reason to then hit him. I knew that I wasn't going to win, so I wanted to put the nail in my coffin. But I wanted to cut my losses.
2015-01-10 01:06:14 - joshzam: It was never personal! I don't play that way. I play to have fun and to win. I wouldn't want to ruin someone else's fun. I'm sorry if you thought that it was personal. I really was trying to make you lose, but only because of math.
2015-01-10 01:06:18 - joshzam: Does that make sense?
2015-01-10 03:02:44 - william tennant: yep, it all makes sense Josh. All well put, and definitely helps me understand your position.
2015-01-10 03:03:23 - william tennant: I would still rather play it out, no matter what (there are always miracles) but I agree with Bob that suiciding against a lower ranked player is a legitimate strategy.
2015-01-10 03:04:27 - william tennant: It was obvious when you suicided that Bob had a 99% chance to win the game, but I'd still like to play it out! And frankly, on the 1% chance that I could have won it would have been a memorable battle and you wouldn't have lost too many more points.
2015-01-10 03:05:11 - william tennant: I didn't think it was personal though. And thanks for taking the time to explain.
2015-01-10 03:05:17 - william tennant: gg Bob
2015-01-10 04:47:24 - joshzam: gg
