2013-08-12 16:22:21 - docchaos: Apparently you think that's different, that's something that didn't even occur to me
2013-08-12 16:23:38 - docchaos: I didn't *take* any of our truce-countries from you
2013-08-12 16:24:24 - docchaos: Raleigh was taken by Otnal, so I took it from him.
2013-08-12 16:29:13 - docchaos: So I did not *take* any country, because I wasn't sure if killing you was ok (that's a condition I usually include in my truces) and I was absolutely sure that attacking you (i.e. *taking* a territory) without killing you was not ok.
2013-08-12 16:29:51 - docchaos: And by country I mean territory, i.e. city on this map, old Risk-habit to call territs countries.
2013-08-12 16:36:05 - docchaos: As for waiting for your reply: I'm fully aware, that you checked on this game between your turns (and I was aware of that for quite some time), but we're on different time zones and I didn't have the time to wait
2013-08-12 16:36:52 - docchaos: Again: I can only say I'm sorry, it didn't occur to me that this was a violation of our agreement, because I worded it poorly
2013-08-12 16:37:37 - docchaos: Either way it's entirely my fault
2013-08-12 16:38:20 - docchaos: I can offer you a rematch (same map, only you, Otnal and me, maybe fitz) to make it up to you
2013-08-12 16:39:42 - docchaos: I like how you played this and you're a pleasant chat partner and I don't want us to part on bad terms
2013-08-12 16:41:43 - docchaos: I'm not sure we can find a way to fix this in this match (hence I propose a rematch...or some team games if you like), but if you have a suggestion, let me know.
2013-08-12 16:42:49 - docchaos: This is terrible, since this has been our second misunderstanding in just one match
2013-08-12 21:19:39 - nohspeak: It's alright man, there's no hard feelings. These misunderstandings happen in this game. And while I was trying to get up on my high horse and show how you could've waited longer to take your turn...I WAITED TOO LONG and missed my turn.
2013-08-12 21:21:47 - nohspeak: Completely defeating that line of argumentation. The other stuff is still valid. I hear your point on attacking vs. taking, I've thought it myself before, but ultimately fell on the side I'm on now. That attacking troop totals is the same as taking
2013-08-12 21:23:30 - nohspeak: a territory for all intents and purposes, It violates the spirit of the truce ( as well as the letter of it, since you had to press the attack button over and over and over again, to avoid auto attacking...man tedious is right,
2013-08-12 21:23:45 - nohspeak: I wouldn't have done it for that reason alone.)
2013-08-12 21:24:14 - nohspeak: : )
2013-08-12 21:25:23 - nohspeak: Really I'm just sad we didn't get to see the endgame play out.
2013-08-12 21:25:37 - nohspeak: Maybe just answer some questions for me if you can.
2013-08-12 21:26:13 - nohspeak: How many troops did you have to spend to take out his 700?
2013-08-12 21:27:04 - nohspeak: How many were you left with after taking him out and cashing in his cards?
2013-08-12 21:27:23 - nohspeak: and how many did I have before you started attacking me?
2013-08-12 21:30:03 - nohspeak: Because my bet was that having done all that, with a set to turn in on the next turn, and being able to wipe out your singles across the board that I would've come out on top.
2013-08-12 21:32:44 - nohspeak: Then again I see now that you got to turn in two sets right away replenishing a great deal of your losses, still we were close in troop count and I would've been able to eliminate your per turn income, plus my set, I think would've put me on top.
2013-08-12 23:23:10 - docchaos: test
2013-08-12 23:23:20 - docchaos: oh, I can post, great
2013-08-12 23:24:29 - docchaos: ok, before you think I'm out of my mind now: I tried to improve BOB and apparently fucked it up so I can't do anything when it's turned on
2013-08-12 23:26:19 - docchaos: Unfortunately, I didn't take a snap before my turn, so all those figures are from my memory
2013-08-12 23:26:27 - docchaos: Otnal had 600 something
2013-08-12 23:27:24 - docchaos: I think 680 or so
2013-08-12 23:28:47 - docchaos: After deploying I had about 600 more troops than you did (1200 vs 1800 IIRC)
2013-08-12 23:30:14 - docchaos: When I killed Otnal, I has almost exactly the same amount of troops as you (give ore take 50)
2013-08-12 23:31:42 - docchaos: So, I spent about 600 troops to take him out, which sounds about right
2013-08-12 23:35:12 - docchaos: I already mentioned you had about 1200 at the start of my turn, I think I got you down to 900 something by just taking everything that's not SW/SE
2013-08-12 23:36:29 - docchaos: I honestly don't know how many troops I had at that point, so I can't tell you how many it cost me to reduce your stacks
2013-08-12 23:39:36 - docchaos: I guess you're right, even though that button is labeled "assault" and has been labeled that ever since Hasbro sent a cease-and-desist, I usually call it "attack" button
2013-08-12 23:40:11 - docchaos: so it should have occured to me that I was doing something wrong, but it didn't
2013-08-12 23:40:26 - docchaos: Like I said: Completely my fault
2013-08-12 23:43:06 - docchaos: Anyway, about hitting that button over and over again: That reminded me of the old times when we didn't have auto-attacks. And a a friend of mine still doesn't use auto-attack because he doesn't trust it. I don't know how he's doing that.
2013-08-12 23:44:24 - docchaos: You know what, I'm contemplating something I done a few times so far, but never on purpose: I could start my turn, and let the time run out before I deploy
2013-08-12 23:45:03 - docchaos: Effectively wasting 240 troops and giving you another chance
2013-08-12 23:46:34 - docchaos: But since you're a freemium and me winning this game is still more likely, which means that little stunt might do nothing for you but use a spot you could use for some other game, it's your call
2013-08-13 01:14:52 - nohspeak: I'd appreciate the gesture, even though, it wouldn't matter in the end. I think we can both see we're reasonable people, and no ill will is or was intended. Yeah, I would join Premium, but I just spend way too much time with four games,
2013-08-13 01:15:20 - nohspeak: staying free is mostly a method of helping myself out of my self control problems : )
2013-08-13 01:16:41 - nohspeak: Also a rematch (not to regain lost points) but simply cause it was a high ranking, interesting set of players would be cool. Perhaps you could set it up. Though maybe invite all instead of just the last 4.
2013-08-13 01:16:49 - nohspeak: your call on that one.
2013-08-13 07:16:54 - docchaos: I can do that too, I've been dying to try out that new rematch-button
2013-08-13 07:18:28 - docchaos: And I know that self control problems all too well, I've been freemium myself for quite some time for that very reason. Thankfully I got it under control more or less. ;)
2013-08-13 07:33:47 - docchaos: gg. I decided not to do it after your reply, since you agreed that it would be just dragging this game along
2013-08-13 07:35:44 - docchaos: wow, I'm Colonel again...and by a margin of nine (I was a Colonel only once before and it was by a margin of 4 I think, so I'm improving)...can't be for long thouh. :(
