Attack Moves and Game Links Round 17 Andyf23 Attacks Babagonosh Attacks
The Luxembourg map is the tournament game, while your 1v1 games will be random maps. Premium preferred as there may be more than 4 games you will be playing in at a time. This tournament will be played in real time, and your moves will be posted in this forum.
As you can see the Luxembourg map below, it is numbered 1-19. I will take 16 players for this tournament.
You will be given 1 terr. (random.org) to start with on the Luxembourg map (Luxembourg City Territory automatically starts out neutral). Then I will randomize the player list for turn taking. It will be sequential, and you will be required to post in this thread your move. You are allowed 1 attack game per turn, unless you hold a bonus, in which your bonus will give you that many more attacks per turn. (ie, 1 attack per turn, plus you control Luxembourg City which would allow you to attack an additional adjacent terr in same round)
For example, if you start the tournament with number 7, you will own Capellan on the map. The first round you will be required to designate which terr. you want to attack (using Cap. as example, your choice would be Lux. City, Bourglinster, Mersch, Redange, or Esch). This will correspond to the person playing that terr. Since there are 19 terr. and only 16 players, there will be 3 neutral terr. to start (Lux City auto neutral at start). I will play those games, if players choose to attack a neutral terr on their turn. Keep in mind, that your attacks might not be the only game you play per round, as you may be attacked by other players on their turn in the same round.
The rules for attacking, you CANNOT lose the terr. you are attacking from if you lose the random game. You may lose it though if you are attacked by another player in the same round. The winner of this tournament will be the person who successfully conquers the Luxembourg map.
I have made the settings escalating and with a 20 round limit, for the sake of moving this tournament along. Also, it is possible to be attacked by two players at once. For example, if Luxembourg city (player C) is attacked from Capellan (player A) and from Esch (player B), Player C would have to play both 1v1 games. If both attacking players win their 1v1 games, then a 1v1 game will be initiated to determine who captures the terr. Also, it is possible for 1 player to attack the same territory from multiple attacking spots. Example, 2 (1v1) games will be made if player A attacks Capellan (player B) from Esch and Lux City in the same round because of the bonus attack associated with holding Lux. City.
As noted above, this tournament should allow for a real time feel. The sequential turn taking is only for some semblance of organization. Otherwise, it is pretty simple. You get 1 attack per turn, unless you hold a bonus, then you get that many more attacks per turn plus your 1. The legend from Luxembourg will be used for bonuses. ie Lux city +1, Ardennes +3, etc. If you control Ardennes, then you get to declare up to 4 attacks per turn.
Also, please note, you are not required to make an attack(s) on your turn, you can abstain and play defense. However, if you lose your last terr. and you are not attacking that round there is a risk you will be eliminated. You must have at least 1 terr. on the Luxembourg Map to remain in this tournament. Once you lose your last terr. and have no chance of acquiring a new terr. through attacking, you are considered out of the tournament.
First, to keep this tournament as neutral/unbiased as possible, the 3 neutral terr. to start are Luxembourg City, Troisvierges, and Clervaux. Reasoning: The two terr. at the top of the map would be strategically advantageous to a starting player. Once someone controlled Trois and Clervaux, they would be guaranteed at least 2 rounds before the possibility of being eliminated.
Also, if a terr. is attacked by 3 or more players in the same round, it will create a Mexican Standoff instead of 1v1 to declare who wins the terr. Any attacking player that does not beat the owner of the defending terr, will not advance to that game. For example, Luxembourg City is attacked by Esch, Capellan, Dudelange, and Bourglinster in same round. Esch, Capellan, and Dudelange beats the defender, this will force a 3 player random match with tournament settings posted above.
All movements need to be posted in this thread within 24 hours at the start of your turn. I will be sending PMs to everyone on a regular basis, and post the copies of those messages in this thread. You will be able to see the updated map with player names, and the list of every move made in every round in the 3 post of this thread marked "reserved" at the moment.
After every round, the turn taking sequence will change. The first player to make a move will drop to the last place the next round. This ensures that everyone has an advantage of making moves ahead of other players or after they have posted their moves. There are 16 players, therefore after round player 1 will be player 16, while player 2 will become player 1. It may sound confusing, but the lists of turns and movements will be documented thoroughly in 3rd post of this thread.
Are there any questions? If so, please leave it here as I will check this forum regularly throughout each day. Please keep in mind this will be conducted as sequential turn taking. You will post your move(s), then I will make the game, send out the invite to you as the attacker, and to the defender. I will make these games when all players have stated their moves. You will not be able to change your moves after you post. Please refrain from trying to edit your posts if you see another player making a move that you would like to counter. I am asking for integrity from every player.
I have a lot of ideas to make this bigger and more smooth, this is really a test tournament to see how the game plays without the distraction of winning/losing dice deciding your outcomes. Your hypothetical dice are the 1v1 games that constitute your attacks on the bigger Luxembourg map. Good luck, we are full, and I am awaiting privs.
Final point, if you miss your 24 hour window, you will not be kicked out of the tournament. You will not get deferred attacks, and if you return to at least 1 terr, then you can still participate. However, if you are invited to a game to defend your terr. and miss that invite, you will automatically lose that game/terr. As stated before, if you lose all your terr. you are eliminated. There is no leeway with this rule.
My clock is CST (Chicago), that is the clock that the 24 hours per thread post/per game invite/etc. I will PM everyone at the beginning of each round, and also at the beginning of their 24 hour turn to give them a heads-up. It would be wise to check this thread often to keep up.
I just realized I deleted rules pertaining to multiple attacks. There was a problem with this post when I went to edit it 3 rounds ago, it was sending me an error message about the image that it was not the right size, however it worked in the first post. Anyway, I deleted some things from this post, and now realize I deleted key rules pertaining to multiple attacks...
In order to attack a terr., you must have an adjacent terr...Also, if you have more than 1 attack, you must have that many adjacent territories. In other words, Lux City CANNOT attack Dudelange AND Frisange in the same round, but a player could attack Frisange and Esch if he owned Capellan and Lux City
Good luck to all
