Concept:
Mystery Door Game. Original idea by DD2

Round 1
There are 16 mystery doors. At the beginning of each round, each and every player must PM me their door choice (from 1-16). When a player enters a door, they will encounter a unknown number of other players (all those choosing the same door). Each round only 1 player can leave the door. If no other players choose the door, then the same rule applies of only 1 player can leave the door, and that player gets a bye.

Example
So for example in round 1 if 4 different players PM me the number "2" and only 1 player PMs me the number "5" , the 4 players will be in a 4 player game, and the 1 player will get a bye. If more than 8 players choose the same door, then it will be divided in to two games and the two winners will play in another final match.

Round 1, 16 mystery doors.
Round 2, 14 mystery doors.
Round 3, 10 mystery doors.
Round 4, 6 mystery doors.
Round 5, 4 mystery doors.
Round 6, 2 mystery doors.

Once two players are left, they will automatically chose the same door. If (and only if) the last two players have played less than 3 games, the last round will be a best of 3.

Technical:
I will send PMs asking everyone for a door choice. Everyone will have 24 hours to submit their door choice to Chapcrap. If Chapcrap does not receive a door selections, then you will be automatically dropped out of the tournament without a valid excuse. Once chapcrap receives all door selections, he will post them to the thread and I will send out invites. If that invite expires, you will automatically be dropped out of the tournament without a valid excuse.

If you are freemium, it is your responsibility to have an open slot available. If you do not, you will be dropped from the tournament.

Minor Rule addition:
"The Chapcrap Rule:"
If all the players remaining select 1 single door, and any of the players have NOT played their minimum of 3 games for it to be a valid victory, then all players will play a Best of X series, where X has to be at least 3 games. Players play until any player has more wins than any other player.

Accepting Sign-ups until at least next week sometime. If I look next week and I have over 16 players, then I will start the tournament.

Is there a player maximum or sign up time limit? Just wondering.

But, I do need you to list trench or no trench.

And, with the setup, even with the precautions you are taking, I'm concerned about you participating. I think either you need to not participate or have the PMs sent to someone else.

And when it gets closer to the final, what if someone has had a byes all the way though and 3 or 4 players choose the same door and that person wins? Will everyone play the same game again? Or everyone move to the next round? There needs to be a plan for that.

Sometime next week as long as the number of players is a minimum of 16. If you need something more concrete I could possibly do that.

This tournament has been run three times before, I pretty much plagiarized his precautions for fairness. I guess I do not need to participate, but I would really enjoy it if I could.

Right, there needs to be a minimum of 3 games played. To meet this rule:

From OP:
Once two players are left, they will automatically chose the same door. If (and only if) the last two players have played less than 3 games, the last round will be a best of 3.

Edit for clarity:
Let's assume the most ridiculous happens. There are 16 players.
Player 1 chooses Door 1 in Round 1.
Players 2-16 chooses Door 2.

Player 1 advances to Round 2.
Players 2-9 (randomized) will play
Players 10-16 (randomized) will play
Both winners from 2-16 will play. Winner advances

2 players total advance to Round 2.

Since player 1 had the luxury of not playing any games, Player 1 and Player 2 will have to play a best of 3. Winner is crowned Champ
