The Epidemic of Self-Pity in Boston, MA

I've noticed over the years that Boston has a serious problem with self-pity. I'm sure you've all seen it. Remember how pre-2004, all Red Sox fans were unbearable with their constant whining and crying about how unfair things are? Have any of you ever visited Boston? You can't walk half a block without seeing someone complaining about how they're "put upon" by society.

What can we do to help the city Boston emotionally age past the infant stage? Are they just a lost cause?

This thread brought to you by the New York Football Giants.

True, they had Good Will Hunting, but prior to Bourne and The Departed, all they could complain about is how shitty Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were at acting. Even now, they complain that Jeremy Renner didn't do a good southie impression in The Town.

Fucking bitches. And New England clam chowder < Manhattan clam chowder, although good NECC would be better than any old MCC, IMO.

Not that NYC isn't full of assholes and douchebags.

This message brought to you by a proud Washingtonian.

What the f*ck does this mean?

NECC is either better than MCC or not... it can't be both.

i've heard of hating other people because of their home country, which is stupid enough.

but hating people because of their home city?

dave, you continue to astound me with your shameless displays of ignorance and bigotry

Bostonians are tied with New Yorkers as my least favorite people.

Further, these are two of my three least favorite football teams (the other being the Dallas Cowboys). It's going to be a really crappy Super Bowl watching experience for me.

In a fact finding mission about Boston, I came across this:
i'm sorry but boston totally sucks. like the girls are fine and the nightlife is fine too. but its not a real city like NY and you'll realize what I mean when you get there. i went to college there and one of thing that always pissed me off about the place is that nothing is open late, can't even find a slice of pizza past 1:30. to top it all of its FUCKING FREEZING.
Sounds like Boston sucks.

No, they are just Taxachussettes. Makes perfect sense to me

When you guys start appreciating the Patriots and stop bitching about the Red Sox, I'll stop lumping you in with the New Yorker jackasses.

I don't know anything about Boston except that:

1) They sent Creme Pies to American Generals during Christmas 1944 to give them the power to defeat Hitler - something like that anyway

2) Boston Bruins Defeat Canucks, Cause Riots - awesome Hockey team

3) the Motherf*cking Dropkick Murphys are from there

but if you really listen to their music, they have a song called Shipping Up to Boston. And the lyrics are:
I'M SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa (like a baby?)
I'M SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (like Lucille Ball?)

Who doesn't appreciate the Pats?

I live about 10-12 miles from the Stadium. I assure you based soley on the traffic patterns on game day that we appreciate our Team.

I remember reading about and then watching the Eagles vs. Pats super bowl. You guys didn't care much about it then. You're all like "aw, the sawks" etc. How about you appreciate your damn football team as much as we love ours?

If the Pats win I'll just comfort myself with the 35 World Series titles New York has won.

27 for the Yankees
2 for the Mets
5 for the Giants
1 for the Dodgers

Even if the Pats win, it'll only bring Boston's total Superbowl wins to 4. New York already has four, 3 for the Giants and 1 for the Jets.

In conclusion, Boston sucks and always will.

Also, thegreekdog, don't forget, the Patriots were actively cheating when they cheated to beat the Eagles in the Superbowl. It was only due to the efforts of the intrepid Jets under Eric Mangini that Belichick was caught. And the Pats haven't won a Superbowl since. So really, the Patriots should be stripped of all three of their Superbowl titles due to cheating.

The best tranny prostitutes are better than the worst female prostitutes. But I generally always choose a female prostitute, except in the situation when I'm presented with the best tranny and worst female. Do you understand what I'm trying to say now?

The best New England Clam Chowder trumps the worst Manhattan Clam Chowder, but in general I choose the Manhattan. I like the tomato-based flavor.

I've never been to Boston, MA - But I've been to Boston, Lincs. That's a shithole that's full of inbreds. You can't get a pizza false stop. The pizza never took off in Boston because no one has managed to make it taste nice, because they boil everything and everything has to be accompanied with Turnips.

The Deep-boiling-Pan Turnip Supreme with Turnip filled Crust is best left alone...

I figure, Boston in Amerika was settled by some of these backward morons. I figure Jim has a weird & secret love for boiled root vegetables. Jims Great great great granddads' intelligence was equal to a sheep living in Kent.

Here's what I know about New Jersey.

1) More Revolutionary War battles were fought in New Jersey than any other state.

2) They also have an awesome Hockey tradition.

3)Image
It's where George Washington crossed the Deleware to kill redcoats in their sleep on Christmas.

4) But today it looks like this:

This is bullshit New Jersey. You have forsaken your heritage.

I like to make fun of New Jersey as much as the next New Yorker, but let me say this. Most of the cast of Jersey Shore, and most people on the shore itself, are from out of the state. Some of them are from North Jersey (and the difference between North Jersey and South Jersey is like NorCal-SoCal). But the ratio of out-of-staters to Jerseyites on Jersey Shore (the show) is 6:2. Three from Staten Island (the hub of guido-dom), one from the Bronx, one from Poughkeepsie, one from Rhode Island. I've never been to the Shore, but the people of New Jersey know that it's mostly people from out-of-state coming in and giving them a black eye.

There are lots of other things to make fun of about New Jersey, like the smelly meadowlands, Newark, Chris Christie, the fact that Christie whines about how they should be the New Jersey Giants, the rampant political corruption, and their little brother complex.

Did I hear someone say "Back to Back".

Sorry you are a sore loser Greek.

We do appreciate them... of course once they win we need to focus our Chi on the Sox, Bruins, Celtics.

Do you really want to talk about the success of local sports franchises?

Has any other city had a champion in all four major sports in the last 5 years?

I don't think we have self-pit here. More likely we are cocky.
(but still not as cocky as New York.)
