show: phase 1
The 24 teams will be split randomly in 6 groups of 4 teams. In each group, each team will play the remaining 3 teams on 5 maps: - Classic escalating, sun - Poison Rome, no card, fog - Drugs war, no card, fog - Berlin 1961, no card, sun - Arms race !, escalating, fog After the 5 games “battle”, the winner will be credited with 2 points and the loser with 0 point. In other words, team 1 and team 2 will play 5 games. The winner of the "battle" will be the team with most games won (3, 4 or 5) and will get 2 points. It will be credited with the same number of points if it wins 5-0, 4-1 or 3-2. However, number of games won will be used in case temas end up phase 1 with the same number of points. Each team will play 15 games in the first phase. Invitation for the 5 games battles will be sent every 10 days, or even every two weeks. Idea is to maintain the average game load at or below 5 active games at a time. Assuming the tourney starts pretty soon, the first phase could be over by the end of November. After the first phase, teams will have either 6,4,2 or 0 points (3 games won, 2 games won, one game won or 0). The two first teams advance to the second phase. In case two teams have the same number of points, the number of games won will first be used to determine who advances. For example, if three teams have 4 points, one has 12 games won, another one 11 and a third one 10, the teams with 12 and 11 games won will advance.Update : tie braker rules phase 1: As registration order was considered as unfair tie breaker by tournament director, I had to update the rule. We will then do as follows: in case of tie between two teams, the winner of the battle between these two teams will advance : battles are on 5 maps, so there will always be a winner. This will solve the question of tie between two teams. If three teams have the same number of points and of wins, then we will establish a ranking between them based only on the games between these three teams. For example, if we have Team A, Team B, Team C and Team D in a group, we might have A winning its three battles and then B, C and D winning 1 "battle" each. If B, C and D have won exactly the same number of games, we will then see what happens taking account only of the games between these three teams. (They will have one battle won each but maybe not exactly the same amount of games won). If this is not sufficient (= there is still a tie between the three teams), we will see how won more games on the first map (classic), if it is not sufficient we go for the second map etc. If we still have no clear order, each of these teams will have to meet each other on battles made on three maps : -Classic escalating, sun -Poison Rome, no card, fog -Drugs war, no card, fog It may also happen that, if we only take account the games between the three teams, we have a clear number 1, but still a tie for the second place. In this case, we will simple take account of the result of the battle between the two teams to decide who moves and who stays. Invitation for the six games will be sent to the three teams simultaneously. If this is not sufficient, we will do it again.

In phase 2, the 12 remaining teams will be placed in different groups depending on their score in the first phase : the 12 teams will be placed in order 1 to 12, according to the number of games won (and then according to registration order). In group 1, we will have number 1,8,9 In group 2, we will have number 2,7,10 In group 3, we will have number 3,6,11 In group 4, we will have number 4,5,12 Within each group, each team will meet each other on 10 maps: 1. Classic escalating, sun 2. Poison Rome, no card, fog 3. Drugs war, no card, fog 4. Berlin 1961, no card, sun 5. Arms race !, escalating, fog 6. Holy roman empire, no card, sun 7. Egypt Nubia, no card, sun 8. Battle for Irak, escalating, fog 9. France, no card, sun 10. 8 thoughts, escalating, fog After the 10 games “battle”, the winner will be credited with 2 points and the loser with 0 point. In case of draw (5-5), there will be one point for each team. Each team will play 20 games in this second phase. Invitation for 5 games will be sent every 10 days, or even every two weeks. Idea is to maintain the average game load at or below 5 active games at a time during phase 2 too. Phase 2 might well end in January or February 2012. Tiebraker rules for phase 2: the following criteria will be taken into acount (in that order) to determine the winner within each group: 1. number of points 2. number of games won 3. yellow cards received during phase 2 (for this criteria obviously, if you have 0 and oponent 1, you win). 4. games won classic during phase 2 (it can be 0,1 or 2) 5. games won on Poison Rome during phase 2 6. games won on Drugs war.... 7... 13 games won on 8 thoughts 14 points in phase 1 15 games won in phase 1 16 games won on classic during phase 1 17 games won on poison during phase 1 18 19 20 21 Tie breaker on classic.
show: phase 3
The phase 3 will be pretty straightforward: direct elimination. Battle between two teams will be on 9 maps (to be sure we have a winner). We will use maps number 1 to 9 of phase 2. Don't forget 12 hours rule! The final will be between the two winners. The two losers will fight on maps 1 to 5, and winner will be third of the tournament.
