1.5 pounds of red cherries, with stones
1.5 cups of sugar
2.5 cups of vodka
1 cup of brandy
Combine vodka, brandy and sugar in a large bowl. Cut the cherries slightly to open, leaving the stones. Put the cherries in a large container and pour the liquid mixture. Stir well, cap tightly with lids and leave in a warm place for about three months. Strain the liqueur through a fine cloth, discard the cherries and pour into bottles.
Edit: If you try making it, it is best to leave it slightly longer and give the jar a tip every other day to break the sugar down. A great drink for Christmas.
Tried making this a few years ago. Extremely lethal as it is so nice, you forget you are drinking alcohol. So you can finish a bottle of very quickly before it hits you.
