i'm supportive of using the préfecture names, even if the map boundaries are based on the départements. to most non-french people, département names (for example bouches-du-rhône or yvelines) mean nothing, while they are much more likely to have heard of the corresponding préfecture names (for example marseille or versailles).pamoa wrote:About gameplay maybe instead of the département names can we put the préfecture (main city) names

i started this thread and i like the idea of using the préfecture names instead of the départements. i think that would be fun too. i like both actually.
i might add: the argument for using the préfectures is that many people might not know the names of the départements... that was part of my reason for wanting a map listed accurately by département--to help me and others actually learn the départements. however, learning the préfectures is also very educational, so, for that reason, i like both methods.
i'm very excited to hear that this is finally taking off. i can't wait to play the board!
