kind of typical CC fashion to not address something like this... doesn't shock me... arguments were made in the past about the offensive/racist nature of the confederate flag and it was considered an invalid complaint... guess those feelings must still prevail or they might have made some sort of official announcement, given the plethora of confederate flags that abound about the site... i don't have an issue with them on maps, just like the historic nazi monikers on maps.. i do take umbrage with the use of them in sigs, avatars, etc... but as long as CC's old rulings still stand, i'm not going to chase after individuals. this is something team CC should not address and just assume is going away. they could have dealt with it years ago when it was brought it, but they ignored it... the south isn't rising again and the confederate flag is offensive/racist..-Jn

Yeah. Being a privately owned site, they could and should remove racist and offensive symbols, but it seems CC is still content to be haven for racist and threatening people and opinions. Why they would stick to it even now is beyond me. The inconsistency is bizarre, but unsurprising. Things have not changed much, apparently.

The confederate flag was brought into play when the south decided to leave the US, then again during segregation times (I dont remember exactly when they used it, I just know it happened at some point) and the third time we see the flag in our nations history is when gays get the right to be married. If that isn't proof that it is used to support segregation then I don't know what is.

That being said the only way the confederate flag is a problem is if you let it be a problem. If you see the flag and just turn a blind eye and don't give the people that use the flag the attention that they want then they will stop using the flag.

my opinion and a lot of you probably disagree with it

That is actually a racism act in progress that is segregating a minority. Raising a flag that is symbolic for racism is just trying to get rise out of people, if you don't give it to them then they will eventually stop using it.
