Re: Adjacent Attacks
I actually thought this thread had died, but I am pleasantly surprised to see it still up and running after my hiatus from AA!
I agree with a lot of the comments posted through September and October (yes, I am aware that I am likely commenting on some very old news here) that having a Callouts thread would be helpful, as this thread is essentially that now.
However, I see a rather obvious reason for that. This is still a very viable option, and we generally have it all hammered out now, but every time someone brings up something new for us to discuss, we figure it out as well and adjust the rules. So it makes sense to have the thread here. It was really nice to see some "official" word on the subject too.
And by the way, you can quit berating me for the Feudal game now.
It was a sound strategy at the time. I figured with AA it would be advantageous to be able to move through a number of territories in one turn (with 3 or 4 army stacks) instead of having to deal with big neutral stacks everywhere that would take multiple turns to get through anyways. However, as has been pointed out
, I was too far behind to make up the necessary ground with AA. That's my story and I'm sticking to i.
I'll watch for more games here, and join as soon as someone posts some more.

Re: Adjacent Attacks
Guys, I'm sorry, but it looks like my partner just swept the board in this game without paying attention to the fact that it was AA. I know that sucks for all that were playing. Anyway, jotheconqueror won't be playing anymore AA games after this, (he's in the assclassic), so if there are more team games i'll have to get a different partner.jakewilliams wrote:Well none of my regular partners wants to do AA. Anybody interested in joining, please hop on my team. If you have a teammate already, PM me and I'll drop the game to make room for you.

Re: Adjacent Attacks
First I did an accidental double attack, but my comment made it look like it was intentional, so that was a huge mess to clean up. We did, but then my sitter didn't read my notes about it being an AA game and started sweeping the board. It was a great game too, well into the game with no definite end in sight.a.sub wrote:what happened?yeti_c wrote:Well the City Mogul game went to shit...

Dubs game, I'm the only one without a partner. I feel like the AA leper, can't catch a break on a partner! Anybody interested in AA dubs, hop in or PM me if you don't know the password and I'll invite you.

Anyone want to try a redo on that doubles game? I'm guessing a.sub had a sitter who didn't know the rules and just rocked through everyone.

What do you expect when you cheated your way to a game we were looking like winning.a.sub wrote:thanks for the love yeti

Dude, this has happened several times in the short time I've been playing AA. It's pretty much a given that someone will screw up. Actually that's pretty much the only way games end. The only game we've successfully pulled off was the classic art assassin, and even though the AA rules weren't broken, I still feel like that game was ruined by a retarded play (i'm pretty sure it was yours).yeti_c wrote:What do you expect when you cheated your way to a game we were looking like winning.a.sub wrote:thanks for the love yeti

Basically, until it's a setting the game sucks.

Re: Adjacent Attacks
All it takes is a little bit of attention to your games.
I have over 140 active games right now, and I've still only screwed up in an AA game one (my very first one on my first or second turn). I think it's fairly obvious it's an AA game when I look at the map, due to where the stacks are, and I know the players well enough that I tend to recognize them enough to be reminded that it's an AA game.
All my sitters know to check game chat before making a play, and if it's an AA game I make sure to remind them of the rules with the Note to Self feature.
I've played a number of games through to completion with AA, and I find the games are always a lot of fun because they require way more strategy than just positioning your armies for a big sweep and multiple takeouts. A very large portion of those games that went to completion within the rules were in the tournament that was previously won, and most of those players don't ever check this thread, yet they still follow the rules.

Re: Adjacent Attacks
The gameplay is brilliant - it's just some of the players that suck.72o wrote:Dude, this has happened several times in the short time I've been playing AA. Agreed. But until we can stop them in some way, it's just point dumping.yeti_c wrote:The gameplay is brilliant - it's just some of the players that suck.
Um, no. I had two huge stacks coming to whittle you down, as you were my target. My assassin was only one step behind me. Instead of moving away from your assassin, as everyone else had been doing all game, you cashed and autoed both my stacks, leaving 2 1s for green to kill me and win. That was retarded. Your game chat of "I told you to go the other way 72o" does not excuse you from the bonehead move.yeti_c wrote:PS - the retarded play was yours actually.
Game 5623575 in case you need your memory refreshed.
Anyhow, we'll see you on the AA battlefield again soon.
