No, he's in the process of developing his entire draft. He's just putting it out there for the modified theme, gameplay, etc. Still a draft.sailorseal wrote:I say it's a idea can a mod do a

Re: Battle of Yorktown (new version) V3
you still have yet to provide a solid draft that you can work from, and until you have one, i do not think that there is anything else that can be said

Look, he said this, then I said this, so don't say anything if there's nothing to say.the.killing.44 wrote:.44tlane wrote:this is my newest version - it is a work in progress

Look, stop commenting on this while he's working on it. You're obviously just bitter at him for disclosed reasons. Let him finish the draft — I was helping him with it after school and it's improving.sailorseal wrote:I saw him working on it during history today and he has still not added ANY names, please tyler get busy!the.killing.44 wrote:No, he's in the process of developing his entire draft. Re: Battle of Yorktown V4
to clear up the flags a little-
I do not know much about xml, i have not worked on that, so tell me if it will not work
I had thought that the flags would be separate territories, that is my idea, and they can attack all territories they are touching, also, i have not added this in the map yet, but i thought of the idea that there would be on flag from each country that can bombard the other flags(only the other ones that can bombard)
if this is not clear tell me, and if you have any better ideas, i would like to hear them

it would work on the xml, you just need to specify which flag is whichtlane wrote:to clear up the flags a little-

Re: Battle of Yorktown V4
The font is kind of hard to read, I do not understand how the flags work, the wire impossibles are hard to see, add more impossibles, make more ports and this will be a great map...
Re: Battle of Yorktown V4
The good, the bad, and the ugly...
Good: your command of the basic visual elements is coming along: territory color, use of texture, borders aren't perfectly smooth but are getting there, coastline looks nice. And you've created a map with over 50 territories that doesn't seem squished, with is no small task.
Bad: font is difficult to read. Took me several passes to find the barbed wire. Southern region looks next to impossible to hold... on fact, so does SL, NN, W, and P. The only good places to start are on the northern islands. Legend seems a bit cluttered.
Ugly: the impassable gray turds... what are those?
Overall impression: I don't know much about the Battle of Yorktown, and this map doesn't teach me anything; not that a CC map should be a teaching tool, but it should give an overall impression of what actually occurred. The Battle of Yorktown involved artillery bombardments, a siege, entrenchments, the creation and cutting of supply lines, and ships patrolling the river... none of this is reflected in this map.
While I think that it is certainly more complex than what you want to do here, you may want to take a look at the Waterloo map for some inspiration. The use of artillery is something you may want to look into, as it was decisive in many revolutionary war campaigns.

Re: Battle of Yorktown V4
i think that historical maps should have actuall territory names, otherwise, it could be any yorktown

Re: Battle of Yorktown V4
tlane....this could turn out to be a good map, i see that you're working on the improving the grahics, so here are some things that might help to improve the map.tlane wrote:...
Current version V4
[A. tert = territory (my short-speak)]
1. the barbed wire is too light, and needs some black/dark edges to highlight it against those brown background colours.
2. some of your borders don't connect properly
3. the border lines are very pixely and the way to fix this is to give them a gaussian blur or similar...i use 0.5 gaussian blur.
4. the flag on some terts are confused as to which tert they belong. e.g. are there two or three british flags on yorktown, and if so, shouldn't one suffice
5. the legend is very small, and i can't read the text...dont' be afraid to use some lighter colours for contrast.
6. your legend doesn't match your map colours
That's all for now....i'll take another look after these things are fixed and we can go from there.
