As you wrote your post before my edit perhaps you didnt get that irony? And if you still think I have so bad understanding of the word irony, let me put it in clear writing for you. Ill play for fun, but I will achive victory by any means possible as long as its by the rules, and as long it doesnt involve anything I dont find fun(at this site... deadbeating or waiting for my turn in freestyles so I can play 2 turns in a row and such). As for irony number two, you think you can judge my character from this site? Your welcome to try, but I have to warn you.... when not playing games... my word is rock solid, I fullfill my promises and I give alot and I almost never expect anything in return.b.k. barunt wrote:Yea, i guess nobility shouldn't come to play in a game, and games are not for fun - they're for winning. I guess our cultures are different . . . ? . . . that sounded wrong . . . actually you'd make an ideal American, and a good Republican at that. P.S. i think you need to look up irony in the dictionary, or maybe have someone explain it to you.
Yeah.... and playing fps games shooting other ppl makes you a potential killer. Playing monopoly, forcing your opponents to pay up when the have put their marker down on the most expensive property which you have loaded with hotels making them go bankrupt makes you a coldhearted mf.Jafnhár wrote:Anyone that thinks that breaking deals is OK because this is a game is not only naive, but also ignorant. I would like to put it like this instead... anyone not being able to tell a game from real life are just stupid. Dont play the game if you cant face the consequences...

I will take your advice here. Since i don't want to "face the consequences" of playing with you (i.e. getting stabbed in the back), i will not play with you. Thank God for the ignore list. Oh, and yes i still think your understanding of irony is less than superficial. You've given us a glimpse of your character here whether you know it or not.
It doesn't always make sense to attack the leader, though. That's overly simplistic thinking.Deals, truces and all the rest of this crap are just that.... crap. If your not in a doubles or a triples game then you are on your own. When there is a clear cut leader in a game, then I think most people know to attack that person until the rest of the game catches up... or if not then your playing with the wrong people. There is no need to have truces.
I think people who automatically nay-say deals are just showing that they don't want to work hard enough at another aspect of the game.
Although Iv been accused of it I never have broken a deal.
Lets say iceland/greenland border truce. They get a little strong I simply take out europes bonus with my troops in asia. He left all borders with me light and heavied up his african borders.
He accused me of breaking deals and suicided me. By that time though I had just been acumulating men on his Greenland border. When the truce ended I blasted his measly dfense away.
He had several chances in alaska to take some of my budding power away but he chose not to.

Deals are used in the boardgame as well. However, in the game I played, the leader made a deal with someone, and the only good that came out of that was that the other person got eliminated last. The reason I dislike rule breaking can be taken directly from history.
World War 2
Hitler and Stalin make a non-agression pact. Hitler breaks it. He ends up getting owned.
The Japanese make peaceful statements to the U.S. Pearl Harbor happens. The Japanese get owned.
Hitler promises Chamberlain that there will be no war. Hitler goes to war. He gets owned again.
I rest my case.

I agree completely with the above posters. I would also like to add that fortifying territories is, without exceptions, a thing that only very weak players do. In other words, fortification is almost always done by the lower ranks since it is both unnecessary and unethical to the rest of the players.Kid_A wrote:deals are for the lower ranks
I also think that conquering Greenland is unfair and that real players should never hold two continents at the same time.

And I certainly have got a glimpse of yours..... btw, It feels darn good beeing on your ignore list since I prefer not playing games with whiners.b.k. barunt wrote:I will take your advice here. I've had deals broken before, but I don't play enough flat rate or 3 player games for it to really be a big deal. And yes, my last sentence was meant to imply that flat rate games and 3 players games lead to alliances, which is why I don't play those settings very often. Also, when I say flat rate, I'm including no-cards games too. All these settings are likely to lead to an alliance; I don't care what anyone tells you. If you don't want to deal with that diplomacy crap in this game, then play 5 or 6 player escalating games.

And now you give us a glimpse of your intellectual capacity - let's see, how old was i before i could spell "being"? 6? I now understand why your reasoning is somewhat skewed - illiteracy does not exactly lead one to sound logic.Smurf75 wrote:And I certainly have got a glimpse of yours..... btw, It feels darn good beeing on your ignore list since I prefer not playing games with whiners.b.k. barunt wrote:I will take your advice here. If you want to we can continue this debate in swedish, I apologise deeply for not having english as my mother tongue. How old was I when I learned that not everyone in the whole world speaks the same language? 5? But this discussion is not really about breaking deals anymore so Ill let you have the final saying. You know where I stand in this matter, and I know my character...b.k. barunt wrote:And now you give us a glimpse of your intellectual capacity - let's see, how old was i before i could spell "being"? 6?
