will the sum of money robbed increase in later stages of the tournament? If not we are due to a very long tournament...
If we start with $5, and the winner will end up with $80. that means that minimum of 75 wins are required to win this tourney

The simple answer is the way it's set up "no". However, IF we play out the current tournament set up and the player count drops significantly, we can arrange for some other method that's fair to all players remaining.

Right now, I want to play it as designed and see how it plays out. I do understand eventually it may need to be tweaked, we will broach that when we get there. I have a few ideas
