the foundry is the largest design by committee process I have ever seen.boberz wrote:perhaps he does not need to seeing as there is plenty of comments coming in and he does have a life he does not need to be the most involved poster for every map. NO COMITEE. nothing ever gets done in a comitee i dare you to go to any commitee from a locall tennis club to the EU and find a positive, they all dont take quick and decisive action any knows what he is doing and doe sit well the process works so long as people are prepared to work o their maps.

no the foundry is not a comitee process you have designers, commenters and andy; things only dont get done when designers or commenters think they can overule andy. So long as andy can make a decision and everybody follows his lead we will be sorted. As i say if you dont like the process draw a map print it off and play with your mates otherwise do not complain that a map is not progressing fast enough.

If Andy dont have time to folow all maps, then definitly must have 2 or 3 map foundry helper too look all maps, in my map i also have these problem, if he have time to folow all my topic then he will know what people like and what dont, in these way, when he dont folow work in map, he can ask something what all ready pass Majority aproval, and these not right.

I don't think Andy is following this thread at all.spinwizard wrote:andy should have 4 assistents-
yetti_c (codeing)
Keogei/teya (graphics/ gameplay)
dim/??? (abstract ideas)
querty/humly (graphics/gameplay)
something like that, what do u think?
However why should he need someone to assist him with coding or abstract ideas (???) for example? Coding just needs to be done and that's it.
Andy gives input on what to improve in a map (mostly playability and graphics) and determines at what stage of development the map is. He also decides when it gets quenched.
What could probably be implemented is more people to help Andy with a holistic approach to the foundry. People who would check maps when Andy is not available and help him follow the map progress in general.
However it's useless debating on this issue unless Andy or the mods are involved as they have to decide if this needs to be done or not.

qwert andy is here to make sure maps are made to their full potential! Part of his job is to make sure that no half assed maps get quenched. You seem to think that your opinion is greater than andys and act like because you say you're happy with the map it should be quenched.qwert wrote:well when mibi complete satisfy all desire of people, then will Andy kick hes brain with something minor thing.
i must say that rule of 1 man is also not good, you can apply all of majority, but when andy say something, then he dont care what majority say, you must do what he say, these like dictatorship, becouse before andy, nobody comlain whit my borders shape. But andy start mutiny and now i must for all litle things to put vote poll.
The way andy works the foundry has NEVER been an issue until you came along. But andy is the problem right? lol get off your fucking high horse and fix any and every probem with your map if you want it to get quenched. If you refuse to make maps to the best of your ability you have nobody to blame, but yourself when they don't get quenched.
this isn't qwerty club...
if it was something that drastically changed your map or a request you weren't even capable of doing then yeah I would find something wrong with that. Seeing as so many things that get requested you either shoot down, completely ignore or say that's not how it's suppossed to be. Yeah I agree you make polls, but don't act like you make a poll for all your suggestions because you don't. I've seen numerous times on your threads where you ignored peoples input or just tell them you don't like the idea. So don't act like you're always trying to please the majority...

I've been following the thread, and many other maps threads. (I don't always post, because I can see that the 'Foundry Process' is working. I.E. I don't need to guide the map with my hand, the members are doing so).
In regards to the original Cartography Committee, read up on it, and see how it was shot down.
I've got something in the works, so stay tuned.
Oh, and stop flaming everyone. This will be the first public warning, then I will warn the individuals on a PM basis, and if you continue, I'll be happy to rid you of Our Foundry for a few days with a Minor Forum Ban. Take it all to the Flame Wars.

Well, I don’t think there is a problem with getting moderator comments on a map. The people here in the foundry give back a lot of comments so as long as the map is progressing I think that’s fine.
The only problems I could see is that the developmental atlas seems to be missing a lot of maps that are in development. One of the things that seems to be a prerequisite to getting you map on the atlas is for Andy to personally like the map. I don’t think there is any possibility to get your map forged if you aren’t even listed on the atlas. Getting a few people to look over the maps officially could help. There are historic maps, world geography maps, fantasy maps, and abstract maps and I don’t that there is any one who likes all of these. Having a couple people in official capacity would allow for people with varying tastes to look over the maps and possibly make it a little more objective.
