Also can we get a vote count?

Re: Mass Effect 1 - D2 Something ancient...
I apologize profusely for not getting in my promised post. This week has been much more hectic than anticipated and I've barely had a chance to skim the thread. I'd understand if I need to be replaced.
Now what I have skimmed from the thread is basically a pile of evidence against caff. Jailed with no night kills and a counter-claim. Now, I doubt there are two townsided trackers, and even if we lynch the town one first we get the scum the next day, which isn't too bad for town all things considered. No deaths last night also helps cushion our numbers if we make a mistake. I doubt any more evidence will appear today by this point so in case I don't make it back here I'll vote Caff

When I was vote counting, Benga you unvoted and then were the last one to vote again. Can I ask why? Just interested that you were the one that applied the first pressure on Caffeine and when things were a bit up in the air, you unvoted, and now he was fully lynched, you voted again.

Let me count the votes myself first, sorry, I haven't been on all day to count.

Re: Mass Effect 1 - N2 United we stand
Shepard received a transmission from Admiral Hackett as him and his team were departing Feros.
Hackett: "Come in Shepard! I'm in need of help, Cerberus has tracked me down! I'm sending you the coordinates!"
Joker chimes in after the transmission, saying that the message was encrypted, and not something the Alliance would normally do.
Shepard travels back to the citadel, and is greeted by none other than Admiral Hackett himself, who confirms that he wasn't the one that transmitted the message. This only reassures Shepard that the message was an ambush, and Shepard behests the council to send the entire fleet to confront the threat.
As they arrive, they see a massive capital ship that even dwarfs Destiny Ascension.

Immediately the fleet engages the massive ship, and after a long battle, and heavy losses, the ship is finally destroyed. But during the ships destruction, what can only be described as a transparent red light that latches onto an escape shuttle.
Saren has made his escape and is still a major threat to the rest of the Galaxy. With that news, the team makes their way to Virmire.

You have 72 hours to send me your night actions.

Quick reminder guys. The day will start on the 28th in 2 days. Still have not received most of the actions. If I get them all before the 28th, we can move it forward faster. (Also, because I'll be out of town for the weekend after the 28th to the 2nd.)
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Mass Effect 1 - D3 Together We Fall
The team lands on Virmire, where Saren has established a base of operations. What awaited them was deeply disturbing.
An army of Krogans and the Geth. Fortunately, a special task force courtesy of the council and the Salarian race greeted Shepard. A battle plan was formed, to where one of Shepards team will remain with the Salarians and nuke the place. Ashley volunteers for it, and with that, both teams set out to destroy the base and the experiments conducted there.

The team sets out to systematically destroying the base and the labs. Shepard, however, comes across a hologram depiction of what looks like the ship they had destroyed earlier. It turned out to be more than just a hologram, but an extremely intelligent AI.
A brief conversation with the hologram revealed that the ship's name that was destroyed was Sovereign, a vanguard, and their leader, Harbinger, will come with a reckoning. A cycle that has continued for a millennium carried out by the Reapers, and that Saren has been nothing more than a puppet.
With Sarens plan revealed, Shepard and his team continue fighting their way to Saren, and are finally greeted by him. After a brief struggle, Saren makes his escape. The Geth, however, remained, and in overwhelming numbers.
With deep sorrow, Shepard had no time to rescue Ashley from the Geth and to get away from the bomb. Thus, Ashley is sacrificed and will always be remembered a hero. A really racist hero.

As the team drifts through space, one of the crew went missing without so much as saying a word. Evidence of foul play is present, blood stains in one of the cabin. For some reason, no one can recollect who that member was.
With the loss of Ashley and the unknown member, Shepard continues his pursuit of Saren, all the while noticing subtle changes in his crew...
Pika - ???? has been killed, the body has been hidden.
Mitch - Ashley Williams (Body Guard) has been killed.
With 14 alive, it takes 7 to lynch.
Many decisions lie ahead, none of them easy.
Deadline set for August 10th

Okay... so.. Good work on lynching Caff, but wtf with not knowing Pika's role? Does that mean we may find out later? This rly limits the actual amount of info that we can get from the night kill. Also rip Mitch, who the hell did you try and protect?

Usually a question mark would mean a janitor. Though I don't know why mafia would kill Pika and scene evidence would suggest that Ashley was the mafia kill.

Re: Mass Effect 1 - D3 Together we fall
Okay, ready for some more (maybe not so) dumb questions?
First of all, why were two people killed last night? I know we don't know for sure, but what are some likely mafia game scenarios that would cause this.
I'm presuming mafia can't kill twice in one night, or can it? And I thought the Thorian recruits but doesn't kill, or does it? In what ways can a townie kill at night?
I remember hearing mention of things like serial killers and vigilantes. Are they a possibility in this game?
Secondly what are the reasons we don't know who Pika was? Please list possibilities.
Basically, I'm asking for help with hypothesis generation.
I also want to confess another noob mistake. I actually didn't know days (and nights) end early if enough votes are cast, So night kind of took me by surprise.

Re: Mass Effect 1 - D3 Together we fall
I just looked up Bodyguard on the Mafia Wiki. The opening paragraph supplied me with some food for thought:
So it sounds like there were still two kills but Mitch wa snot the target of the second one, ...or maybe Pika was killed twice, or extra hard or something (??). Also the wiki draws a connection between bodyguards and vigilantes."A Bodyguard is a role who can target a player at Night to protect them. However, if the protected player is supposed to be killed, the Bodyguard is killed instead ("taking the bullet" for them, as it were).
Bodyguard only protects from a single kill. If multiple people try to kill the Bodyguard's target, both the Bodyguard and the protected player will die.
Bodyguard is usually Town. It makes little sense for there to be a Mafia Bodyguard, as they have no reason to target anyone except a scumpartner; and a Vigilante who finds that their kill resolved on a different scum than they expected can simply shoot their previous target again".

Re: Mass Effect 1 - D3 Together we fall
Well in terms of character flavor. Someone who could flavor wise fit as bodyguard isn't too often far from vig flavor as well. Cult can't usually kill unless they recruit a vig (mafia/SK as often as not are unrecruitanle and can cause the recruiter to die if he targets them) and even then somrtimes people lose tjeir abolities when they are recruited. Considering that most seemed to be favoring getting rid of Pika as inactive and possible scum and no kill N1, I would normally chalk up the Pika kill as a likelh vig shot but that doesn't explain why he would come up dead with an unknown role.

Re: Mass Effect 1 - D3 Together we fall
Another question. This one about the percentage needed for a lynch. On days 1 & 2 it was 10/17 which is 59% ...and now it's 7/14 = 50%
The rounding error from an odd to even-numbered group could explain about half of the descrepancy but not the rest.

How dare you bastards kill mitch.
The alternative is that mitch was not targeted, but that he successfully saved someone else. Bodyguards have a 50/50 chance of dying or killing the attacker when they protect someone. Certainly seems more plausible than someone directly taking out mitch.
I still suspect Fircoal.

Pika might be cult. It could be a built-in feature of cult rather than a targeted janitor action.

Firstly, you also suggest that Mitch died while being a bodyguard and that certainly makes the most sense... but there is also the more remote possibility that he actually WAS targeted.
Secondly, you mention that a bodyguard has a 50/50 chance to kill the attacker? Is that always the case?
Could there be a scenario in which both the body guard and the killer (or the target) die, perhaps due to another action by a third-party? if so Pika could be Mitch's killer or the character that Mitch was trying to protect.
I admit that I'm speculating out on a slender limb but what you said got my imagination going.
Hate to admit it, but the game is becoming more fun with a few killings to investigate.
