Re: The big one is coming....
Give natty a break. I actually found what he had to say quite interesting (and, being an old fuddy-duddy, quite agreeable, as I refuse to be a slave to fashion). He certainly didn't try to get a rise out of anyone in the manner he's now being attacked, so what's all that about?
I respect anyone that can hold his own against Dako, as the guy's an intellectual heavyweight in the IT sector. Both made good arguments and neither should be dissed for it. Whatever happened to good old-fashioned debate?
Back on topic....I wish I was a fly on the wall in these Conquer Cup games as there must be some funny goings on (crazy attacks, vendettas, bonus attempts, etc etc). Must be as frustrating as hell for any decent player who watches helplessly as someone two turns after him destroys the balance of the board.

We should encourage Conquer Cup reaction recording. I'm sure the meltdowns will be epic. Mines usually are.

It's KA's cousin (someone in the family has to work). But yeah...interesting. One year on the site and never a game played. Just plugging insurance whilst making meaningless posts such as the one above.

Are we sure KA's cousin isn't just a spambot?

Enough with the questions!! I demand reckless action immediately!
HANG THE SPAMBOT! BAN ALL Filipinos!!* THIS IS A CANADIAN SITE, which has been co-opted by the United States; therefore, it is unAmerican to be a Filipino spambot!!!!
*Why is it "Filipinos" when their country is labeled "Philippines"?
Re: The big one is coming....
I think it's probably a misspelling made so frequent it somehow made it's way into the dictionary. Swedish is a closely related language to English and we call the Philippines for "Filippinerna" and it's citizens are called "Filippiner" which makes a lot more sense than the English translation.BigBallinStalin wrote: *Why is it "Filipinos" when their country is labeled "Philippines"?

I'm beginning to think this thread is the "big one" and its still coming and cuming and coming
Re: The big one is coming....
I think someone already answered this, but I don't see it now:BigBallinStalin wrote:*Why is it "Filipinos" when their country is labeled "Philippines"?
The Phillipines are named for King Philip II of Spain, and of course in Spanish that's spelled "Felipe". So, the islanders were called Felipinos and later Filipinos, which is still the way they are referenced in most usages. When the Americans conquered them from the Spanish, they insisted on changing to the English spelling of Philippines, and that spelling got attached to the political and geographical entity, but not the cultural entity. The Filipinos now reject both the Spanish and the English spelling, and spell it Pilipinas.

Re: The big one is coming....
200 maps and Game 10^6 were eventualities so I don't really care about them. They are not updates, they're just CC jerk-off sessions.
Conquer Cup and CCC were supposed to be huge but everyone can see through the mist and it's obviously just a shitty money-making scheme by lack. If lack truly gave a shit about us, he'd implement the suggestions that are rotting in the Suggs forum. Instead he ignores all of us and implements a direct attempt to make more money.

THOSE DAMN CAPITALISTS AND THEIR MONEY-MAKING WAYS!!!
If you don't affect their bottom-line, then there's no need for them to implement change.
However, if you leave en masse, they'll quickly respond to the loss in profit.
The problem is that hardly anyone values leaving over the lack of desired modifications.
So, CC will reasonably do it's thing, some may hold B&M sessions, but the bottom-line isn't affected.

This site's membership has been steadily decreasing over the past 2-3 years. I believe this will do nothing to affect it.BigBallinStalin wrote:THOSE DAMN CAPITALISTS AND THEIR MONEY-MAKING WAYS!!!

Re: The big one is coming....
Even if people don't immediately choose to leave when they're disappointed with CC:s decisions, it would be smarter for CC to maintain good relations with it's customers. Building good relations increases customer loyalty, and loyal customers are immensely valuable to any business, much more so than customers who come and go.
Even more so when you consider that CC relies on it's customers for the majority of it's content.

Re: The big one is coming....
Until you stop paying for your membership, then your position will become credible. I'm not saying that it's wrong for you to complain about particular CC policies, but it's apparent that their current policies don't really offset your willingness to continue "rewarding" CC.Army of GOD wrote:This site's membership has been steadily decreasing over the past 2-3 years. My concern is that the CC owners don't perceive the loss in membership to be problematic because the decrease in profits (whatever that may be exactly; it may not be significant) can be substituted with $5 tournaments and yada yada. If people were aware of this CC change in strategy, then they might be more likely to stop paying the membership fees because the ConquerClubbers might begin to realize that their suggestions can "reasonably" be ignored by the CC owners.
Until then, we'll see if people "put their money where their mouth is."

First, you should be hanged.Army of GOD wrote:I haven't paid for a single membership.
Second, you can't reasonably write off the hours spent in providing escort services to certain ConquerClubbers in exchange for the "free" premium membership, can you? Alas, there may be the day when you refuse CC credits and will insist on "Cash Only."

Not sure what this has to do with Matthew 24:7, but I digress.BigBallinStalin wrote:First, you should be hanged.Army of GOD wrote:I haven't paid for a single membership.

We are aware of decline in membership, or specifically, it is actually a decline in new sign-ups according to the data. We are investigating factors that have led to a drop in sign-ups, and once that is complete we'll have an updated action plan for boosting recruiting.BigBallinStalin wrote: ...My concern is that the CC owners don't perceive the loss in membership to be problematic...

Re: The big one is coming....
Don't just try to boost recruiting. That's entirely the wrong way to go about it. Fix your current problems, pay more attention to old members, and listen to the community. If you make the old members happy, you'll get new members as well - word of mouth and all that. Word of mouth of a happy customer is a 100 times more effective than any advertising money can buy. That is, if you want long term customers, not just people who come in, maybe buy premium once, and leave... if you want customers who are loyal to the site, who commit to it and help improving it.AndyDufresne wrote:We are aware of decline in membership, or specifically, it is actually a decline in new sign-ups according to the data. Lackattack should just come out and have an honest discussion with the community, particularly: those members who are responsible for driving CC ahead - the clans, tournament organizers, mapmakers... the ones who create content on the site. Find out what are the biggest complaints, concerns, wishes, suggestions and hopes of those people, find a way to address those issues, and the rest will follow. It's really simple.
