Yeah, it's only playing in the Atlanta area near me... I'm not driving an hour and a half to see it, unfortunately. It'll be cheaper to rent the DVD. However, if I had gotten in to see it locally, I could have seen it without economically supporting the movie. Perhaps I'll just borrow it from someone.

Did anyone see his promotional appearance on THE TODAY SHOW? He is a quack when it comes to economics too. And no, Mr. Stein, Creationism should not be taught in public schools.

I suppose I have more respect for him on his economics, since that is what he actually studied, and I don't know anything about the subject. All I know is he is a quack in at least one department he is vocal in, so I do lose respect for his overall views.

I've been trying to get hold of a copy of Expelled. It's not on piratebay yet and i doubt it will gbet shown here. But the marketing is interesting - apart from the word 'pastors' there is nothing on the websiet home page to suggest its fundy agenda. Why not? Because intelligent documentary watchers aren't generally wackjobs?

BTW if anyone knows where i can watch it online or in the UK, please let me know

Yeah I saw it. Provoked a lot of good thought. Many people applauded and I heard some people talking on the way out that it was about time the other side was heard. It didn't really get into the whole evolution vs. intelligent design, which one is right and which one is wrong. What about flat earthers? Should they be given their classroom time as well? plenty of evdience for that in the OT.
What about people who believe in the Inuit creation story? What about Hindu creation?

Or, how about you take your kids and homeschool them if you want to teach them unsubstantiated fairy stories, or alternatively have some faith in the overwhelming scientific consensus, arrived at over the past 150 years by men and women who have devoted their lives to its study, and may of whom had their faith sorely tested while doign so?

Actually it's far more logical that people evolved from more simplistic life forms by a long process chance-governed refinement, than that some mystical invisible mega-fairy conjoured them up out of nothing. If you can't see this, it's because you don't want to see it.

The other side is in fact heard every day in the environment where it belongs, be it church,temple,mosque or synagogue. It was also generally taught as the definitive explanation of creation for over 1000 years with rather unfortunate consequences for those who cared to question it, those who dismiss evolution are at worst dismissed as cranks in comparison. There is no great conspiracy against creationism,it has simply been superceeded by a theory the most people accept as far more likely and logical, except within a narrow religious framework creationism has no role to play in modern education and it should certainly not be considered in any way scientific.

lads firstly i dont believe in a "GOD" but i also believe its a personal choice!

In your search for meaning people often follow the wrong road. It starts with philosophy! its fundamental questions are
-who am i
-where do i come from
-why are we here
-and most importantly, why

every person will have a different quest for meaning and it will pose infinte numbers of mental paradoxes!!
I believe that the god most people believe in is their only way to explain, bypass or understand these questions.

It is the clear inability to provide a definitive answer to these questions that leads people to believe in a god! the reason they believe is because they feel deep down(they want to and hence need to) that there is a meaning to their life.

which in a simple persons mind equals "their" god!

well if your lookin for that sorta shit den i also believe (just didnt want to say earlier) taht anybody who claims there is a god is mentally weak, dependant on hopes that arnt there because they cant find enough reason in there on lifes to find meaning. obviously they are seeing themselves as failures in their own eyes without admitting it! live for your self if your able, only the weak and puny say they are livng for there "god" doing his wil and all that shit.
hence anybody that believes in a god is self pronouncing there mental inferiority!! .

Come on, if you're so fixated on your idea of a god being the source of all life, you could compromise; the evidence points to evolution, whether you like it or not, so maybe you could claim that whichever god it was created the precursors to life (that then evolved) even if that does hold its own myriad flaws for you to amplify.
