Spider-man is dead to me after they ruined Venom in the 3rd one.

I always see the films as being secondary, transient. I have loved comics since I could read.
Best superhero movie ever - either Spiderman 2 or The Incredibles.
Best comic book character, either Daredevil or Invincible.

Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
I would agree with you on Spider-man 2 and The Incredibles (even though it was a bit slow getting going), as for comic book characters, I don't really know enough about Daredevil or Invincible to really say much about them but I have always been a Spider-man fan.
My main problem with Spider-man 3 is the portrayal of Venom/black suit spider-man. Growing up, Venom and Carnage were two of my favorite villians, Venom is to this day in my favorite villian portrayed in comics. In Spider-man 3 I did not get the same feel from Venom as I had in the comic or even the TV show.

I agree - how many explanations have we had for the black outfit now?
When it first appeared, it was just supposed to be cool - (it was given to him by aliens in the Secret Wars)but the readers didn't like it so they gave him his old one back. Then the whole "sentient, nasty" bit came up - and worked so well Venom has a version in every continuity, even though the Secret Wars didn't happen in most of them.

But if you like comics at all you should check out Invincible. It's about to reach issue 50. Robert Kirkman is a good writer (I loved the Marvel Team-Up where Spiderman met Invincible. Very very funny).
Oh, and another recommendation - check out Hedge Knight, based on George RR Martin's Ice and Fire setting. The first story arc is available as a TPB, and the second (Sworn Swords) has just finished.

My parents' plane is on time - they should be here in a few hours time.
I await with interest my father's opinion of Noo Joisey. He will either think its the greatest thing since sliced Tories, or it will be dreadful.
He's a man of very Celtish temperament, and tends to see things in extremes. Often he has decided what his opinion of something will be before he sees it, and reality seldom alters his opinions.
To paraphrase Robert Heinlein, he doesn't let the facts get in the way of a good opinion.

Logic dictates this thread shall NEVER truly be the longest and therefore people would stop posting here! However the mods insist to defy(and deny) logic. This thread is all spam anyways. Don't people get banned for spam?

I wonder if that's what's happening now in the Civil Wars saga, becuase at the beginning of it Spider-man was wearing a suit that Stark had made for him but has since switched back to his old costume due to a change of loyalty.jonesthecurl wrote:I agree - how many explanations have we had for the black outfit now?

Whatever the origin for the black suit spider-man I am glad that it lead to Venome because he has proven to be a pretty good rival for Spider-man. I also heard that there is a separate comic starring Venom as a crimefighter in Los Angeles or something like that. I haven't read any of it, but a friend of mine who knows more about comics than I do says it was kind of funny because Venom would take a purse snatcher and just smash him repeatedly into the ground until the guy was just a bloody pulp.

Logic dictates that you've been proven wrong many times before and will be proven wrong again several times in the future. Therefore, we will not listen to your mindless jabber. Just ask yourself, who's the real spammer? The guy who dedicates himself to a cause? Or the guy who comments in a thread he doesn't like even though any logical person would know that his comment is completely wasted and only helps to achieve the opposite of what he was aiming for?

I think this may be "Thunderbolts" - I only read one issue, didn't like it - various villains are recruited by the govt, I think their main job is to bring in heroes still unregistered after the Civil War.strike wolf wrote:I wonder if that's what's happening now in the Civil Wars saga, becuase at the beginning of it Spider-man was wearing a suit that Stark had made for him but has since switched back to his old costume due to a change of loyalty.jonesthecurl wrote:I agree - how many explanations have we had for the black outfit now?

I think this is actually supposed to be earlier than that, but I could be wrong.
