Led Zeppelin III may be one of their best albums, soo good tangerine and celebration day, and gallows pool, oh and bron y aur stomp
Re: LED ZEPPELIN
No, Physical Graffiti is the best. The Wanton Sing and The Rover will make your knees buckle.
Re: LED ZEPPELIN
I saw Robert Plant in the 80's but that didn't compare to Jimmy Page and Robert Plant at the Omni in Atlanta, GA March 1, 1995. That was one of the best shows I've ever seen. They sounded great and they played everything I wanted to hear. I was hoping for "Bring it on Home" and it was about the forth song they played.

Re: LED ZEPPELIN
The beginnings of Led Zeppelin can be traced back to the English blues-influenced rock band The Yardbirds. Jimmy Page joined The Yardbirds in 1966 to play bass guitar after the original bassist, Paul Samwell-Smith, left the group. Shortly after, Page switched from bass to lead guitar, creating a dual-lead guitar line up with Jeff Beck. Following the departure of Beck from the group in October 1966, The Yardbirds, tired from constant touring and recording, were beginning to wind down. Page wanted to form a supergroup with himself and Beck on guitars, and The Who's rhythm section—drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle. Vocalists Donovan, Steve Winwood and Steve Marriott were also considered for the project. The group never formed, although Page, Beck and Moon did record a song together in 1966, "Beck's Bolero", which is featured on Beck's 1968 album, Truth. The recording session also included bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones, who told Page that he would be interested in collaborating with him on future projects.
Jimmy Page and Keith Moon, were good buddies...when Jimmy announced they were forming a band, Keith said they would go over like a Lead Balloon....Which ended up being one of the all time best Led Zeppelin.....and No Quarter is one of my favs, with bron, yar, stomp

Listen to Elmore James, Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson etc...
and you will hear some of the inspiration behind this music.
Willie Dixon's "I Can't Quit You Baby" and You Shook Me"
are both covered on Led Zeppelin's first album.
The live BBC Sessions are a real treat too.

I love Physical Graffiti.... but IV is just amazing. I can listen through the entire album without even being tempted to skip a song. Possibly the only album by any artist I can say that about.

Re: LED ZEPPELIN
In the world of Rock & Roll, Led Zeppelin was a complete game changer...like Elvis before them and to a lesser degree, Nirvana after them.
It's no surprise that just about every band today will list them as a major influence.

their symbols on the fourth album (see the first pic in my sig) are really awesome, although Zoso, Jimmy's nobody knows what it means for sure

More testament to their marketing genius. They intentionally didn't explain what the runes were, which created massive amounts of speculation and talk.LED ZEPPELINER wrote:their symbols on the fourth album (see the first pic in my sig) are really awesome, although Zoso, Jimmy's nobody knows what it means for sure

Re: LED ZEPPELIN
they had to do a lot to convince the record company to allow their album to be called those symbols, because on the music charts they wouldn't have anywayt to represent the album

you gotta keep in mind that the members of Led Zeppelin are still walking, and alot of their fans were younger than them probably, so not that many weelchairsknapper wrote:They would need to make the venues wheelchair/walker accessible, to accommodate the majority of their fans.
Maybe the Grateful Dead could open for them...well, the members who are not gratefully dead, anyway...
