Re: Players who totally had no idea Kemmler was points dumping
Hopefully this time a proper example will be set and there will be rather more to it than just taking back the points in question, a reset to 1000 is no big deal for a cheat righttyche73 wrote:i gained a 150 points from klemmer big deal
the points will be recycled back into CC eventually anyone who has risen in rank will eventually get the points taken off them in games or add to them.
the flip side to it the points would be gone permanently taken out of CC sitting in a dormant account
if you feel the need to take the points back take them no big deal
i started those games in good faith by the time i'd won (deadbeated) the first..12 points was what i gained
a general setting up 1v1 speed games seemed like a good risk and the more i join the better the odds of coming out points up even if i lost more than i won (my logic) klemmer deadbeating never crossed my mind
anyway if you feel the need to take the points back go for it

Re: Players who totally had no idea Kemmler was points dumping
Has anyone every had a score reset for taking the points someone was giving away? I've never heard of it. The player giving away points can be banned, yes, but the others aren't really cheating.
Re: Players who totally had no idea Kemmler was points dumping
I am in five casual games with Kemmler right now. I started them because I thought if I could win 50% I could gain some points (Kemmler was a major). Kemmler had a whole host of private games at the time that were speed games and had deadbeated on a single freestyle game I had played. So I thought I would challenge him with casual freestyle play. Wasn't until after my first turn in each that I found out more.
The games I am in are:
3309328 3309323 3309324 3309325 3309318
Please feel free to cancel these games (if possible) and take the 29 points I got from him in a singles game I won previously. Not the way I want to move up in rank

Games are almost never canceled. You won't gain much now that he's around 400 points. I wouldn't worry about it.PMClay wrote:Please feel free to cancel these games (if possible) and take the 29 points I got from him in a singles game I won previously. Not the way I want to move up in rank

Re: Players who totally had no idea Kemmler was points dumping
Justification for abusing the system to gain points doesn't make it any less wrong. How about you dump me 150 points so I can be Conqueror again? I promise I'll recycle them back into the system after I'm bored with the balloon....tyche73 wrote:i gained a 150 points from klemmer big deal

if someone was handing out free money it would be tempting to get in line
i dont know what went through peoples heads at that time
i do know tyche for a while and his play and attitude have always
been honest and ethical.
the real abuser was point dumper and by putting a cap on speed
games, which i dont think would be to difficult cc can eliminate these problems.
i dont know why anyone would want to dump points, but if they do will cc reset a players points on request?
lastly although it is unfair to those who fight for every point, over time a 2000 point player gifted with
500 points or reduced by 500 will quickly return to his level of 2000.
so rather than beat up on those gained lets find a solution

I think that more or less, a player will eventually go back to their "true" score, if you see what I mean. If a player gains 500 points from playing dumped games on purpose and gets promoted to a Sergeant, but is only as good as a cook or whatever; and so will go back down to cook (unless the player continuously plays such dumped games).

agree but playing these games is still against the rulesManBungalow wrote:I think that more or less, a player will eventually go back to their "true" score, if you see what I mean. people should get a warning and if they do it again, a point reset

Unfortunately it looks like they want to sweep this one under the carpet as well (dfaarc's thread hasn't been dealt with either). It's odd though as this situation has been covered in the unwritten rules (I'll quote them again for poops and giggles).comic boy wrote:Is anything going to be done ?

Spikeboat was permanently banned, but dfaarc is still enjoying his premium account let alone banned. I've said for quite sometime they need to sticky a list of all the rules , ie forums and game play. Along side it, a list of punishment for each infraction. There's way too much gray area when it comes to laying down the law or lack of.

I'm not convinced there's much you can do here...
A points reset would seem harsh (possilby discouraging people to play), and possibly delay the return to the "true rank" (as in my earlier post here).

Re: Players who totally had no idea Kemmler was points dumping
I beg to differ as resetting their points is a win-win situation - either they stop playing as you say (good riddance) or they learn that they shouldn't be taking advantage of a point dumping tard. It's about time CC sends some strong signals to all the cheaters, abusers and other dillwads out there.ManBungalow wrote:I'm not convinced there's much you can do here...

I was thinking: what does anyone reckon is the best way to send such a message out?
Any ideas anyone?
Re: Players who totally had no idea Kemmler was points dumping
Zero tolerance. Severe punishments for every violation and more importantly putting them on display for the whole community to see (forum announcements, separate tag or icon next to their username, etc.). CC has to start getting the message out there that they won't allow anyone to ruin our gaming experience.ManBungalow wrote:Your point is well taken...Frop wrote:I beg to differ as resetting their points is a win-win situation - either they stop playing as you say (good riddance) or they learn that they shouldn't be taking advantage of a point dumping tard. I like the idea that a warned player has an icon or something next to their name. That could work nicely. Maybe the player could have something next to their user-name for a few weeks after they are warned/banned etc. Or they could "work" it off, by playing properly? Although having to work it off may discourage people from playing...
I dunno :\
