Being an occasional visitor of the Map Foundry, I looked at the Revamp thread. How many people were protesting against WM's one? A few, if I remember correctly.AndyDufresne wrote:The best way to decide, is be active in the Foundry Process. Check out the Foundry, follow some of the maps, comment, critique, etc.I like old one better, maybe there should be a poll to decide

Well, if people are still protesting, why don't you just put the old Canada map up next to the new revamped one? It'll fix the protesting and then everybody would be happy.

This is a bad idea - why do we need two maps that are exactly the same bar graphics? The maps in the game finder are already cluttered enough since there are so many, and new maps are being forged all the time.-ShadySoul- wrote:yeah...that is the best solution...why not keep the old one?Skittles! wrote:Well, if people are still protesting, why don't you just put the old Canada map up next to the new revamped one? Seriously those complaining will get used to the revamped map soon enough if they liked the original and will have forgotten all about this in a week or two.

Hopefully we'll be able to do a few REVAMPs of the forums, but if you don't take the time to care, that is your own fault.

Oh, and good job WM....you never disappoint!

Just saying "i don't like it" doesn't give the develops any clue to what you want done. They would have listened if you had of used constructive criticism, such as, "i find that the armies are too hard to see on such a dark background" or whatever (i don't think that they are...just wanted to give something concrete for him to see)AndrewB wrote:I dont like it either. It was one of my favorite maps before, now it is too busy with graphics, and I won't play it anymore.
And I did check the thread before it was quenched. But saying "I don't like it" apparently is not good enough, so I didnt bother.

I really like this map but I wish it hadn't replaced one of my favorite maps, just because something was made a long time doesn't make it inferior. WM did a great job but I do believe cc has lost one of its best maps. I played the old canada map a lot in 1 v 1 which it was ideally suited to - i realise this is the same layout but it is far tougher on the eye and in my opinion not half as good as the one it replaced purely because its so difficult to see. This map looks good (much more snazzy than old Canada) but this is a games site and in terms of playability this is a vastly inferior map to v.1 and I'm speaking as someone who has 5 active v.2 games going at the moment.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

I did like the old one but thats not why I posted here this revision has a huge flaw - the worst I have seen since I joined cc. It is next to impossible to distinguish army numbers if like me you have poor eyesight - making the background colors so similar to army number countries in a few of the territories was either a nasty joke on us with less than 20 / 20 (which I hope it was not) or the singlest biggest design error ever. It does not matter that this map looks fantastic visually its currently unplayable until this huge error / nasty trick is fixed.

see my post above it is extremely difficult to see army numbers for someone like me with not so perfect sight - although i suspect even those with good eyesight will struggle to see green army numbers in B.C.Syzygy wrote:I prefer the new style. Ah, alright. That does make perfect sense. Isn't there a colourblind option in Greasemonkey though?rebelman wrote:see my post above it is extremely difficult to see army numbers for someone like me with not so perfect sight - although i suspect even those with good eyesight will struggle to see green army numbers in B.C.Syzygy wrote:I prefer the new style. But if the colourblind isn't , I'm sure widowmakers would fix that.
That good point aside, there isn't anything else bad about the map.

if that is true then these two should have been fixed prior to any revamp being quenchedbenjij wrote:look better then the old 1 ,,but still,, many province and territory name are wrong

i am not color blind and the color blind option was not added to give cartographers an easy way out - there is a colorblind palet available (if widowmaker is unaware of this I will send on details ) but the issus here is more fundemental than that we have six basic armie colors (seven if you include neutral's color) and choosing background colors which clash directly with these make this map unplayable for many like me no matter how well it looks - until this is fixed this map should not be live and should be returned to foundry.Syzygy wrote:
