I think that this is the design or purpose of a speed game. It's supposed to be Real Time. If you had to go to the bathroom in the middle of a fight - would the other person say "okay I'm not going to hit you while you do that" *lol* I doubt it.insomniacdude wrote:Just lengthen the round in general. A five minute round tethers the player to the desk (or table or wherever the computer is). There have been several horror stories posted about how a trip to the restroom or to get food has resulted or nearly resulted in a lost turn.
Ten minutes also compensates for technical difficulties (I have been forced to restart my computer in at least three separate speed games, and I think the restart cost me the game in at least two of them).
For the record, I voted for five minutes.
That's completely non-sequitor. The defense in Conquer Club is passive. You set it up and hope for the best. That kind of defense doesn't apply in any other game or fight, so the analogy doesn't fit. In a 1v1 speed game, I literally cannot go anywhere. I finish my turn and have nothing to do but watch, and yet the time is so short and the other player usually fast enough to say that the site would rather I get shit my pants then go use the restroom.Aerial Attack wrote:I think that this is the design or purpose of a speed game. I made that suggestion (a break every hour) a little while back and it just kinda died before it could get some kind of tag on it's title.Aerial Attack wrote:If you are going to quote me - quote the WHOLE passage. 5 minutes is plenty of time for a real-time speed game. The only times you are going to run out is a) you eliminate someone or b) real life [bathroom, food, "visitors", minimal connection loss] intervenes - in which case you have other worries. By minimal, I mean at most 1 turn. Otherwise, it's enough of a connection loss to effectively deadbeat you in a speed game.

I think 5 minutes should be the max...as in Speed Games when you start your round you get 5 minutes to do what you please, and take someone out...you shouldn't get anymore than the standard round time added to take someone else out.hecter wrote: I made that suggestion (a break every hour) a little while back and it just kinda died before it could get some kind of tag on it's title.
I think 5 minutes might be a little short though, especially if you're in, say, a Freestyle game.
No, I was reffering to the break every hour, not time added every time you take somebody out. I actually think 5 minutes is plenty of time to do what I have to do...AndyDufresne wrote:I think 5 minutes should be the max...as in Speed Games when you start your round you get 5 minutes to do what you please, and take someone out...you shouldn't get anymore than the standard round time added to take someone else out.hecter wrote: I made that suggestion (a break every hour) a little while back and it just kinda died before it could get some kind of tag on it's title.

That and I think it's part of the nature of speed games to race against the clock... It adds to the thrillHerakilla wrote:ya five minutes is more than enough time

very true, when i played the few games i did i always felt a need to finish as fast as possible lol. my turns rarely take half the time im given unless im doing homework at the same time (dont try it much, it doesnt mix too well lol)hecter wrote:That and I think it's part of the nature of speed games to race against the clock... That didn't go unnoticed. I just think it would be fairer for all players and all games and all maps to simply have a standard increase of time. Plus it's be easier on Lack to code.Aerial Attack wrote:If you are going to quote me - quote the WHOLE passage. See, this is part of what rubs me the most. Everyone keeps saying that five minutes is plenty of time unless you eliminate someone or if you're on a large map. I'm glad to see that we're address the elimination problem in some way, even if I think it's not the best way (any progress is better than no progress), but why should player be penalized for playing a speed game on large maps?5 minutes is plenty of time for a real-time speed game.
