The setup is pretty simple. A new user has the option to join a quick game with a veteran player, for no points, just experience. If they choose to play such a game, the system looks for registered Guides who are online and active, and sends a pm to the first one it finds.

Our theory is that many players sign up and disappear because they didn't find something to do right away, so we try to make an opportunity for that. We don't know yet whether this is accurate, or if it's the best way to remedy the situation, but we're gathering data and we'll analyze it after we get a good sized sample.

Keep in mind that this is less about teaching than it is just playing a quick game. If they start asking questions, fire away, but don't unload on them until they ask. Just be friendly.
