Given his status as a longtime member and high profile volunteer, it is my unofficial opinion that the newsletter dedication is sufficient in terms of official CC commemoration. We all walk a fine line whenever anyone passes---especially when it is a sudden occurrence. No one wants to be that guy or gal that is out of touch with sensitivity and good taste. I think the Newsletter's dedication was a terrific idea---and I think the Volunteer Appreciation Day dedication was also fitting. And as mentioned above, the avatar epidemic shows it all.
I like the sentiment behind this suggestion, and I think it does have its place, though most appropriately for large scale tragedies like the Haiti earthquake, the Pakistani floods, etc.
In the end, we are all affected by a loss---directly, if we knew the person, or indirectly, reminding us of past memories we have experienced, or the dread of experiences yet to come.

As much as I, and the rest of the CC community shall miss our respected volunteer MrMoody, I don't think that the band would be good for the site. This is mostly because of the flood of complaints that I can foresee coming from those who want someone they knew on here that passed away be remembered, who is to decide who is important enough or unimportant enough for there to be a different banner up commemorating one person? Personally, I would do it in an instant for MrMoody, as an impartial man with a clear third eye, I see it as a bad idea.
