I apologize. I did not explain to anyone apart from GLG why he was given a ban. I will now, and we will see if it is ok with everyone. I am also going to unlock the thread, allow for people to post their (respectful) thoughts and comments, and attempt to answer them as much as I can.

Gen.LeeGettinhed was banned for 1 month as per the situation guidelines for Gross Abuse of Game, which is a major offence. The unofficial term for the particular problem is "Ranching". Simply speaking, it is the case of someone abusing the game by purposefully inviting people who have no experience with certain settings to guarantee a win.

Now, it isn't the fact that he is making these games that resulted in this. It is the fact that he would purposely seek out players with little to no experience on the maps, create the games, and invite them to private matches. This was under the guise of limiting losses, but regardless of the reason, it is still a gross abuse of our gaming system. People will say other players do this. Other players will start games, multiple ones, on maps that they are good at. I myself start 10+ Poland games whenever I get the urge to, as I feel it is my strongest map. But they do not purposely hunt down players who don't understand the maps and invite them under the guise of education, whether there was education or not. Again, this is abusing our system. After examining the situation, it was decided that this indeed did qualify as a Gross Abuse, and the infraction was handed down as per our guidelines. Any questions or comments (within reason), feel free to post in here. The same rules I posted earlier apply though: I won't tolerate any flaming, baiting, or anything of the sort. Keep the remarks clean. Thank you.

it's actually really easy to convince a low ranker to play with you if you're a conqueror.
first of all there's the potential of getting big points vs losing just a few which is appealing to anybody.
but more than that, you have the chance of beating the conqueror on his own turf under his own terms. it's the ultimate bragging thing for a lot of people.

I'll preface this with this... I've been accused of being one of GLG's minions or something to that effect because I posted things that could be construed as supportive in this thread... I have no relationship or attachment to GLG whatsoever and I don't like or dislike the guy... I really don't feel strongly in any direction about the him, and have chatted with him briefly on what I would guess is 2 occasions about topics that have nothing to do with game play... so I simply ask you read what I type critically and try not to inject personal feelings it... I know I don't take any of this personally, so I hope none of you do either... now...

most people control the games they play to some extent.. maybe GLG takes it too far, but I don't agree with this latest ruling (I do agree with the previous warning he received however)... people he has "targeted" in this latest round are people with experience on this site... sure, not on Mogul... but though most think that's the point, I would argue it's not.. How much experience would they need? 10 games? 50 games? some would say "how about 1 game?" lol... point taken. but the issue here is expectations... what were those players expectations when they were invited by GLG on that map? they have general CC experience, and if the top ranked player on the site invites you to play a game on a map you aren't familiar with, what are you your expectations? to gain map knowledge? to win? hahaha... seems the people that start these threads might be a bit more concerned about how it will affect the accused rather than the improvement of the site as a whole... I might be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time... It just bothers me when people aren't allowed to be responsible for themselves and their actions... If I were invited to a game by a top ranked player on a map I wasn't familiar with and got crushed, I wouldn't accuse that person of "gross abuse", "farming", "ranching" or anything else of the sort... I would accuse myself of stupidity, or at the very least of not paying attention to what I'm doing if I expected a different result.....
the last I'll say on this is that a few (1,2?) of the players he played spoke on his behalf... these testimonials, so to speak, were shot down, it was said, because GLG pm'd or walled them and told them what to say.. Ok.. granted... but did those players have to? Are they not able to make up their own mind? They easily could have said no to the invite, and then after the fact they could have said no to standing up on his behalf... just a thought...

This is not our site, and if the people in charge want to punish him.. fine by me... I just don't like the precedent it sets... that is, that people who have some reasonable level of experience need the protection of certain players and mods in order to play on CC.. It just doesn't seem right to me...
