If you ever got a bad mark on a paper in grade school did you jump to the top of your desk and scream loudly at the teacher "stop insulting me you old bitch!"?
You're a bit of an off-kilter one, aren't you?

Historically, in Germany, we would do the opposite.jefjef wrote: But to whom do you come running when you need help? Italy, France, Germany, canada or England?
Instead of waiting for people to run to us for help, we would run to people to provide help.
Often, in fact, they wouldn't even know they needed help when we started showing up. Sometimes our offers of help would take people by surprise; occasionally they'd try to resist us giving them help. But, when that happened, we'd just give them a big ol' bear hug and shoot them full of love! That's how we'd roll, gang.

Re: Does the rest of the world really hate America?
I blame the British for everything. Most of the wars the USA have been involved in were due to the British dragging us in to it because of their imperial practices. The Middle East and Muslim conflicts were brought on by British creation of borders and nations there, their manipulation of Eisenhower and the CIA to get us to depose the secular elected leader of Iran and put the Shah in his place, and their influence and support of Zionism going back to the late 1800's. Rhodes had a plan to ship all the Jews in Britain to Palestine so they would have a puppet government to control. Now they have taken a great big dump in the Gulf. The British have screwed up the world everywhere they have been and the USA has been duped in to helping them over and over.
Yes, that includes both world wars. The Brits are clever evil bastards and we Americans have been chumps.

Re: Does the rest of the world really hate America?
Yes, but interestingly, the USA is accused of each of those at different times, depending on its present policy. for example, its initial refusal to enter WWII was self-indulgent, ignorant, and close eyes. Its entry into Korea and Vietnam were hardly self-indulgent, but could be considered ignorant... either way, it certainly wasn't close eyes. Entry into Afghanistan was similarly not self-indulgent or close-eyes, but could be ignorant. Entry into Middle East affairs (current and prior conflicts) were self indulgent to the extent that they were primarily intended to protect U.S. oil interests, but only close eyes if you disliked the effect on "innocent" people in the Middle East - which often depends on your own political or social leanings. For example, refusal to assist Israel is viewed one way, refusal to assist Gaza viewed another way, bombing Pakistan to get at probable terrorists viewed another way. And going back further and to a different part of the world, the US built the Panama Canal for its own interests; later, the political climate 'required' us to deed it back to Panama. Fair? Unfair? Smart? Depends on individual, political, and social perspectives.Falkomagno wrote: Now, the inhabitants of USA, if a generalization is “necessary” , have been characterized as a herd tending to the self indulgency, ignorance, and close eyes regarding the rest world.
Here's another example... we're "detested" for not wanting illegal immigrants (well, some of us don't) or for not just throwing open our borders to those who feel they want or need what the US has. Meanwhile, places like the Netherlands Antilles are even more selective about who is allowed in (Bon Aire, for example... you can only stay there 90 days in a year, unless you apply for permanency, which you can only get after a ton of paperwork, forking over a bond, proof of adequate health insurance and income to support yourself for at least 12 months.) I don't hear "latinos" griping about the Netherlands Antilles.. why? Because they aren't trying to GO to the Antilles.
So, if the US is being "self indulgent" in wanting to protect US citizens... so be it. If we're close eyes to the rest of the world's plight (despite 90% of our manufacturing is now over in other countries) so be it. I think it would be more ignorant to think one country can save the entire world...and as my previous lengthy post tried to indicate, the suggestion that the US did save the entire world is why the accusation of "arrogance" was merited.

Re: Does the rest of the world really hate America?
While I am satisfied that the United States provided support to the Soviet Union to liberate my former country, Germany, I will note you are correct about the criminal bloodlust of the UK.Uncle Death wrote:I blame the British for everything. Yes, that includes both world wars. The Brits are clever evil bastards and we Americans have been chumps.
The Hohenzollerns and Hapsburgs had proffered surrender terms to the UK well before the US entry into WWI. The UK rejected them hoping to engineer a more thorough defeat so that they could seize German colonial possessions and so kept on fighting while using every diplomatic tactic in their arsenal to goad the US into war so that, by the time the Lusitania was sunk, there was already tinder box ready to blow.
In the inter-war period it was British enabling, cheerleading and tacit support of the Nazi cult that helped them seize power in Germany and subjugate the German people. They got a rude awakening when the dog went off its leash and attacked the master and were left running begging, hat in hand, to the United States to come save them from their "Big Mistake."
The UK has done such serious damage to the US over the centuries it is amazing the latter country tolerates Britain's continued existence now that the shoes are reversed. During the US civil war it was Britain who was on the verge of giving diplomatic recognition to the slave-owning Confederate States - only when the US activated their alliance with Russia and Emperor Alexander notified the slack-jawed Britons that he would unleash the Cossack hordes on the UK to deflower the plump pig Victoria did the dim-witted islanders back down.
Britons are a terrible, evil people reviled by everyone. Now left with nothing more than a tiny little island, where they are all crammed together shoulder-to-shoulder, they continue engineering their crimes against humanity in also-ran munchkin fashion, unleashing their criminal bloodlust on Ireland, the only country still remaining in their grip.
Thanks, gang!

Strong arguament there. Btw, Britain has supported Zionism for over 100 years? You aware that there was deep anti-semitism in Britain in the early 20th century and the British government disowned the Balfour Declaration in favour of the Sykes-Picot agreement directly after WWI.
Re: Does the rest of the world really hate America?
Titanic's right about the last part - former British cabinet member Lord Oswald Mosley was leading the fight against Zionism as far back as the '30's. Here's a great clip of some of his courageous campaigning from back when Britain was fronting the Nazis (before that dog bit them and they had to put it down) that exemplifies the British spirit in everything they do:Titanic wrote:Looking post war: Korea (not Britain fault), Vietnam (not Britains fault), Grenada (not Britains fault), Panama (not Britains fault), Gulf War (not Britains fault), Somalia (not Britains fault), Kosovo (Blair persuaded Clinton into this, rightly), Afghanistan (not Britains fault), Iraq (definitely not Britains fault, you dragged us into this).Uncle Death wrote:I blame the British for everything. Obama Im afraid is looking like a shallow popularist , he is starting to get some bad press over here because of his xenophobic comments about BP . It has been pointed out to him that it was the greed and incompetence of US financial institutions that plunged us all into financial meltdown, so he might well be advised to stop the mud slinging.
