Suggestion: Ignore/foe list change
Concise description:
- Make a difference between ignore list and the foe list, as discussed here
- The current foe list that has replaced the previous implementation of the ignore list is generally nice, but does assume a bit. Some of the top posters I wouldn't want to play with, or would like to ignore their game chat, but still want to view posts on the forum (maybe because of mafia games, or clan challenges, or flame wars - you get the picture).
- While you can click the "show post" link, this can rapidly get annoying. So, the solution posed by greenoaks: have differing "levels" of ignoring. For those you really would rather pretend don't exist, the current foe level. for those who you do want to know forum stuff about, the old ignore list. Maybe also an option that will allow you to view the gamer chat of someone but not play with them, though I personally don't know the demand for that and it might be more trouble than it's worth.
- it will give more options, which is almost always good
- it will reduce the annoyance factor of using a foe list for both rather than one or t'other
- It would make ignoring Fircoal, hecter or wicked that much easier

Re: Suggestion: Ignore/foe list change
Sounds good to me, but doesn't seem like this has gotten any "official" attention ..
Re: Suggestion: Ignore/foe list change
That's because I already brought it up and it's being discussed.
One problem now is you can't ignore mods or admin, and I know there are plenty out there who don't want to play us.
So it's been suggested to split the ignore for games and forum, so you can choose either or both.

So will there be an official word on this at any time in the near future? It's not urgent, but it is somewhat annoying and even a simple "Maybe when we sort chat and whatever else gets broke" style answer would be good enough.

and i think it is of the utmost priority that you should be able to ignore mods, i had two on my list but they were taken off with the update.

Forum/Foe Option
Hey,
I was just wondering if we could get an option that allows us to read posts of those on our foe list. I find it quite annoying to be reading about a topic and have to click a button to read something to continue the conversation. The reason people are on my foe list is because I don't want them in my games, not because I don't want to read what they have to say. For instance, I never want to play with whump again, yet I love reading what moronic thing he has posted yet again.
So...
Have an option when placing people on your foe list:
-Ignore for games
-Ignore chat
-Ignore PMs
thanks,
-tig

Re: Forum/Foe Option
Personally I like that there stuff is removed I usually had a good reason to make them a foe and do not want to read anything from them...But to each there own...xxtig12683xx wrote:not when they post like 7 times in the thread, its just an unnecessary annoyance.

Re: Forum/Foe Option
I agree with tig. There are definitely some people who I never want to play again but do not mind reading their posts. There are also people who I have never played, or do not mind playing, but I cannot stand their posts at all.

Dude, it's a single click, a micro-second. NOT that annoying.There's higher priorities, more important issues.xxtig12683xx wrote:Hey,

it gives you the option to read posts from those on the foe list.Simon Viavant wrote:I'm with tig
Re: Forum/Foe Option
But if they ever do that option, I want to see an option where you WILL NOT see games that your foes have joined.
Right now they only can't join the ones you have joined but you see the games they joined.A few times I have joined them by going too fast. Now i go over every players in a game I want to join: annoying.....
Doesnt make sense to me.
ok, back to to topic

Re: Forum/Foe Option
I believe lack has to recode the way the foe list works to separate games from forums, but I'm hoping it'll get done because there are Team CC members who want it as well.
My suggestion would be to make foe list a list with check boxes: one for games and one for forums. You click which one or both you want to apply to that person then save it.

Re: Forum/Foe Option
it would be a lot easier to bring back the ignore list, because the foes list is hardcoded to be part of the forum. the ignore list was added for games

exactly, how difficult can it be, as before there were no blocked posts.

Re: Forum/Foe Option
I would like the options to include not removing game chat. I have had a couple of situations where I wanted to read what was being said in an active game but did not want a given player to be able to join any more with me. Having to remove and re-add players to my foes list to read the game chat can be quite annoying.

The Friend/Foe list will most likely undergo numerous upgrades and improvements over time.

[Foe] Foe List 2.0 - Customization
Official Suggestion wrote:Concise description:Specifics/Details:
- Improve the customization ability of the foe list.
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
- Allow toggles to block PMs, block game chat, block game joining (still remains on your end and theirs), or visibility of forum posts.
- This function may additionally allow you to block a player as a teammate, or from playing you on a certain map or setting for medal hunters
- Less non-sensible user frustration with other non-sensible users
Mod Note: Due to the variability in Foe List Customization Suggestions, this thread has been created to encompass a large majority of them.
Spoiler
Concise description:
Create "not on my team" list.
Specifics:
A list of folks who could not join your teams (or you theirs, to be fair .. .except in tournaments)
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
There are a lot of reasons you might not want to team with someone, but would be happy to play against them. Most particularly, if the person just does not communicate or play well. This is a problem in and of itself, but also might be one small component of the "extensive foe list" issue. That is, folks putting others on their foe lists specifically because they don't want to partner with them.
As already noted, this could cause tournament issues, so I suggest simply having tournament game types override (ignore) this list (or the entire foe list)
I know I saw this posted before (maybe even by me???), but could not find it when I searched. It would have been posted some time ago anyway, so maybe(?) it was deleted in some revision (?). Anyway, I started a new thread, if not OK ... sorry.

Re: Allow "teammate only foes"
makes sense.
