This thread started off boring and goes down from there.
This ridiculous idea will NEVER be implemented. Mark my words.

homes32 wrote:thanks for the input Andy. this is exactly what has been running through my mind since jiminski and I started hashing this idea out out a few days ago. If this is to work we need to keep the community involved. medals or other rewards could be a good solution for this.AndyDufresne wrote:When we were in the initial stages of planning for the next feedback system, we did consider the idea of having "community moderation." But I believe we steered away for it for the time being because we weren't sure if "enough of the community would actually do it." Who comes here to play games, and who comes here to moderate feedback?
--Andy
another possible solution would be to post for example 3 comments to rate on the top of the user's my games page. this would put the opportunity right out in front of the user and would solve the problem of "I'm not going out of my way to mod feedback" and would keep the mod system moving at a fast pace as the whole community would be exposed to it.
how do you guys feel about this?
nice idea Homes and at the very least a link to the moderation page.
Andy:
hehe, you know, i think you would be surprised, a hell of a lot of the posters here don't even play games but post on a game related site? It amazes me.. but web-communities are so much more than just one thing.Who comes here to play games, and who comes here to moderate feedback?
the only way you would truly get a handle on how viable it is is to ask the whole site
Although there is a fair amount of people voting in the forum which indicates that many would contribute; it 'may' not be a reflective cross-section.
But i think 'feedback-comment' is different to the forums .. it is specifically about players and games and that does hold a 'nosey-fascination' for all players here, forum-visitors or not.
and let's face it, it will only be the juicy comments which make it to moderation in the first place; what could be more interesting than gaming controversy and squabbles, to squabbling-gamers?
Re: FEEDBACK COMMENT - Community moderation
KLOBBER wrote::::yawn:::
It's a very good and well illustrated point Klobby!
Would the community get bored of keeping up with rating feedback comments?
I don't think so; as Homes said in the General thread - we could have a top 3 comments (or at least a Link) to be rated on the front page in order to draw in players, who would not usually consider coming to the forums.
And as Andy said: who comes to play and who comes to moderate!?
I think you would be surprised! Many people do not even play the games in the site and just come for the Forums.. Web-communities grow into far more multi-faceted entities!
But after the initial flurry of adjudication would people maintain an interest or as Klobby indicates:- become bored!?
I think not! the contested Feedback would be that of the most 'interesting' and dramatic nature!
It would be people bickering about the game and yes, why not, 'abusing' each other! after all who doesn't like to witness a good bit of intrigue? particularly one with no way of coming back to bite you!
this is not the same as the small proportion of people who consistently populate CC forums! Comments on gameplay and players are absolutely poignant and hold resonance to every one who is a member of the site! Therefore it is very interesting in a way which is unique to this site!

Dude, you seem to be pretty much the only one who takes any interest in this foolish idea at all.
This lame idea will NEVER be implemented, and you're just digging yourself deeper and deeper in a hole.
Face the facts!

Re: FEEDBACK COMMENT - Community moderation
That would be true if the 72 people who have even bothered to vote on this idea held any authority in the decision-making process, which they do not.hulmey wrote:judging by the votes, klobber is on the losing side yet again !KLOBBER wrote::::yawn:::
All the other people on the planet, besides those 72, have absolutely zero interest in this lame idea, which will NEVER be implemented.

Bumping this up so that more people have a chance to vote.

Re: FEEDBACK COMMENT - Community moderation
There was a need for two threads as they were in different forums. Unlike the thread that started this stupid feedback change, we would like this poll to be seen by as many people as possible. Usually, nobody comes to this forum unless they have a problem or bug to report.wicked wrote:No need for two of these threads... Topics merged.
If you don't put the other thread back up, I sincerely hope that the thread starter puts up a new one. Please don't remove the new one simply because you don't like the way the votes are going.
Re: FEEDBACK COMMENT - Community moderation
The same thread doesn't need to be posted in two separate forums. Just ask the map people.

Re: FEEDBACK COMMENT - Community moderation
Yes it does if you want it to actually be seen by people! If you don't change it back, I'm going to start up a new one myself. This kind of "sweep it under the rug" junk is even more annoying than the comment-less ratings system.wicked wrote:The same thread doesn't need to be posted in two separate forums. well can it be left in General were more people can see it please?wicked wrote:The same thread doesn't need to be posted in two separate forums. Just ask the map people.
